That's high praise, since I think the Ironhide/Ratchet mold is really good

My Sunstreaker should arrive today, but he has to put in some effort to top the Brawn figure from that movie.

I feel like we all have different favorites from that wave, I really liked Wheeljack.

Wheeljack irked me just slightly with the limited ankles and the wings being on his shoulder, but he was still solid.

The Ratchet/Ironhide mode feels slightly incomplete in alt mode in the back, with maybe slightly too small of arms compared to the torso, but otherwise I like it too

Wow, nothing on that list jumps out at me as something I need or am after. A Grimlock reissue seems justified with how quickly he sold out, and that I've recently come around on getting the Dinobots.

But Jazz? Jazz is still very much available not to mention his inclusion in the 5 pack. Perceptor also feels unwarranted since he's also available at most online stores.

I'll be interested to see how Leader Megatron turns out, and if it will be worth the price tag.

This is what happens when they have to plan their case packouts a year or more in advance and figures they expect to be big sellers end up being shelf warmers like Earthrise Arcee.

This may be more a 3P topic, but the base figures are official so...

About the DNA Design upgrade kits.
Lately, I struggle with them. They need glue, sometimes, things don't fit well, and the overall upgrade is barely worth the trouble and especially, the super expensive price.

Here, I upgraded Leader ROTB Scourge. The armor pieces are nice, but the "rib cage" is annoying. The worst is the head. The neck part was barely holding on the balljoint. I tried to improved things until... I destroyed everything. So I ended up screwing and gluing the old head on the new neck and the new neck on the torso. So now, the head does not turn at all.

At least he look nice, especially without the giraffe neck.

For the truck mode, the new rib cage gets in the way a bit, but the rest is the same fiddly transformation. I don't like the fact that the canon can no longer store like it did before, but I do love the fact that the canon now can be stuck between the legs to be completely out of the way. As for the sword, it just drop there. No little minions interaction possible. It still look nice.

So, was that upgrade kit worth the price of the whole damn figure?
No.
Not at all.
If the upgrade kit would sell for 50% off the price, it would be worth it. But at full price, it's not worth the money.

I secured my Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. I talked a bit about Sideswipe in the gamer thread, but he surprised me with how good he is.

As for Sunstreaker, he is a really fun figure. I like how he feels, and I like how he transforms and how he looks in both modes. He is fun! I really enjoy him. They also did a good job with his headsculpt.

Do you think Sideswipe will be retooled/repainted into Sunstreaker and Sunstreaker retooled/repainted into Sideswipe?

They'd both have to be concept figures since there is no Sunstreaker in the games and Sideswipe in the movies is the silver guy, there is no red car guy designed for the Bumblebee movie that I'm aware of.

And Mark Maher specifically made sure that these two particular figures were released together in the same wave, strongly implying that they're meant to go together as they are, even if they represent versions of the two from different continuities.

And they do kinda sorta work together as a pair here

They do look good together, just wish they were closer to the same size. Unfortunately they're working with two different scales here, all of the Bumblebee movie Deluxe Autobots are on the short side.

They do, but it's Hasbro, we all know they love to milk molds.

The second wave of Transformers Studio Series is being found in the US, The deluxes were found a little while ago at US Targets and Canadian Walmarts but the voyagers are fresher on the scene. The only new voyager mold of wave 2 is Shockwave (with a repacked WFC Starscream). He was found at US Targets (here's a specific sighting from Florida).

Below is a review if you are curious about the toy.

Canada's GameStop PO is set for May 1st. So it's still a few weeks away. Hope it'll be shipped sooner!

As a Shockwave collector, I feel this figure is a wash at best. Good posability and proportions, but the cannon is too small and weird, his head looks like a football with ears, and his chest should have been lighter than the purple parts, not darker.

Bummer, Gamestop delayed a few of the Studio Series releases scheduled for today. Shockwave shipped, but Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were pushed back to May 10 and Swoop all the way to July 1! Hopefully these are temporary delays and they end up coming sooner.
