According to statistics from Box Office Mojo, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen has now grossed over $710 million, with the US Domestic and Worldwide split being more or less 50/50.
Revenge of the Fallen now finds itself at #30 in the highest grossing films of all time, only three weeks after it's release.
It is also the second fastest film to make $300 million within the USA (only beaten by The Dark Knight), and again second only to the Dark Knight in the highest grossing films in the US of the past 365 days, taking over half what the Dark Knight did in it's nine month run, in three weeks.
More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

I almost feel sorry for that Potter kid having to follow this movie.
Actually, no I don't. The others can grovel at RotF's feet but none are worthy to follow...

Not bad for a movie that was utterly blasted by mainstream critics.

It fell to number 3 this past weekend in the U.S. so it may not have the same steam to keep going as far as TDK, but it'll give it a run for its money.

I believe that it's going to beat out The Dark Knight. once you get to dvd, bd, itunes, etc. releases and then the umbligatory speacial editions, director's cuts & whatnot. I think it will top all. I personally can't way to get the Blu-Ray of it so I can enjoy it beyond 1080P goodness. Just not looking forward to seeing Simmons' ass in HD.

Unrelated point to the odd prospect of a bad film making enough money to guarantee an even worse third act, here is a link on the "its / it's" debate from the University of Victoria (British Columbia, Canada).
http://web.uvic.ca/wguide/Pages/UsIts.html
"Probably the most common of all usage errors.
Its is the possessive form of "it": "Pick the skunk up by its tail." Like other possessives ("his," "hers") it has no apostrophe.
It's is short for "It is": "It's the end of the world as we know it." The apostrophe is present because it's a contraction. Only use It's where you can substitute it is, and the whole issue becomes amazingly simple.
The construction "its' " exists only in students' imaginations."
And knowing is half the battle.

I never realized Dark Knight was out for 9 months...TF2 has made half that movie in 1/9th of the time?!?!? Holy crap...
...yeah...I was wondering that myself. Are we having an ADD moment?

What's the point, gentlemen? The *point* is that by contrast, y'all shall now appreciate *my* grammar corrections more. Mine are at least relevant to the matter at hand, and more or less lovingly given. Yes, even when it's a loving bitchslap. (It hurts me more than it hurts you!)
As for the movie, while part of me says, 'Yay!', another part of me is rather annoyed, because sound you hear? That's the sound of Orci/Kurtzman et alia's *heads* swelling.
All we need in Hollywood is *more* ego.
HK, ego? I'm more id, myself.

I was finally able to help the numbers increase this afternoon. Given the price of the popcorn and coke, I could have watched the movie two other times!
Anyway, I thought this was a dang good movie--a little rushed in parts, but for the life of me I could not understand what the critics were talking about except that they just don't know Transformers. I thought it was a much better movie than the first, and I can't wait to see them improve on this with TF3! The plot was better, the action was better, the acting was better, the humor was great--"Location under giant enemy scrotum!" That was a hoot! It did leave us guessing as to why there were so many constructicons running around, especially after Big D was formed. When the DVD comes out, I'm gonna be watching that Devastator combination sequence over and over.
And some of the "inconsistencies" in the movie are not so much--like when Mixmaster knocked down the American flag, and then it was shown to be up in a later scene--that was a completely different day. Granted, it was kinda fast that the flag was put back up (given the fact that things usually take an unbearably long time to get fixed in the real world). But all in all, it was a really fun movie and worthy of the $700+ million it has earned.
And I can't close this post without noting the hotness that is Megan Fox. Isabel Lucas was purdy nice to look at as well.

I think some levity was intended plus it was still gramatically correct at least as far as American English is concerned.
As I happen to be part 'Appalachian American' (i.e. Redneck) I think she used it perfectly.

Yeah I know but trying to explain the difference to most folks is 'bout as frustrating as being a one-legged man in an a$$-kickin' contest.

A) Thank *God*: I think way too many people have been taking me way too seriously lately. Myself included.
B) The local 'you plural' where I currently live is 'youse guys'. If you think I'm ever going to use that, ummmm, you are mistaken.
C) It's true, I do have a Southern accent from my years living in the South. It's more of a military Southern, but it's there. But I also live in New York, so if you can imagine a Southern accent at New Yorker speeds.... It is...unholy.
HK, yay! whatever this topic is on that I'm apparently hijacking. I suck.

DAAAAAAAAAYUUUUUMMMMM!!!! If it means good funding/preparation for TF3 -then it's all to the good. I won't be mad if HP beats ROTF b/c it should teach the studio to put more time & care into projects & not rush them out just to make $. Think if they waited another year --better movie --please critics, fans, and make boatloads of $ ala The Dark Knight -- win/win/win. Instead they just went for criteria #3. BS imho.
