Additional Masterpiece Optimus Primal Images including Head Transformation and Scale

Posted by D-Maximal_Primal Feb 3, 2016 at 2:27pm CST 29,954 views
Thanks to the Transformers Masterpiece Collectors Group, we now have even more images of the upcoming Masterpiece Optimus Primal. These 4 new images include a shot showing the scale with generations Rhinox and Rattrap, confirming his size, a picture showing his robot-to-beast mode head transformation, and several accessories and gimmicks.

Fellow member Sabrblade had this to add:
To reiterate some of the previous notions given by this issue of Hyper Hobby, in case anyone missed them, the figure is MP-31, will have four robot faces and three beast faces, the swords are too big to store inside his body but can instead be stored on his back somehow, and the height of the figure is 19cm or roughly 7.5 inches, making it about a head taller than Generations Rhinox.

These new images exciting? Thinking of taking the plunge on the Boss Monkey yet? Let us know in the comments section below and stay tuned for even more news and updates!

I'm pretty sure it was said that it would not come with the mutant head. :BOT:

MP31?! And here I thought they were going to be their own range, similar to the Bayverse "MPs" that came out a few years ago.

im kinda digging him. It's not my main area of collecting (g1) but i loved the show and have a few of the generations BW figures. I have more connection with this than with star sabre and though I wish there to be more more g1 MP output, I don't see this as taker branching fully into BW. I just hope that they do a megatron too. I don't like having a character without his counterpart :D

Thanks for the roundup Sabr! I updated the news story with all this information :BOT:

This isnt first for the MP line. Starsabr doesnt have a counterpart and wasnt part of the Sunbow cartoon we got. We call it G1, but its another era entirely that has it's own name Victory.
And plus, they had both Roadrage and Exhaust which are not original G1 characters either. The MP line was never about a particular era of transformers and its been loosey goosey in what it includes.

I love that head transformation. I always liked action figures that could flip their heads around like that, and it seems delightfully 90s to me (although that's probably just because that's when I paid attention to action figures).

The only problem is the smiling faces. They look accurate enough, but they're CREEPY. Like, worry where he is in the middle of the night kind of creepy. If I ever got him, and I really want him, I would absolutely hide him in random places with those smiles and wait for people to notice.

Yes, that. Those toys fascinated me as a kid. I would spend forever just flipping the heads around because it was so weird looking. I seem to remember a friend of mine had a bunch of Power Rangers ones that he would get mad at me for leaving with all of their heads stuck half-way flipped.

I really hope no one gets too peeved off that I am going off tangent about changing heads but this si a story I thought I would have no place to tell again (and that I just remembered). As a kid, my favourite toys were the ones that had a cool gimmick. Beast Wars toys going from beasts to robots was the best thing ever and that was always what I asked for on christmas and my birthday. I did spot this box once at toysrus and the bottom really impressed me:

It looked like he could change heads and turn from a power ranger into a T-Rex :michaelbay: So I asked my mom to read to make sure that's what it was. She read the marking below and confirmed that yeah, this guy should at least change his head into a T-Rex. I had transformers, so I knew you could do cool stuff with changing heads and modes but I didnt see how you could do it with such a humanoid toy. So we asked the clerk and I was hopeful. The clerk didnt know, so they decided to look into it with me and we opened the box together to see if the toy could indeed turn from a power ranger into a T-Rex like the box indicated at the bottom. It was full of suspense and I remember it well. When everything was removed I turned the toy around to see what kind fo mechanism this ingenius toy must have only to realize he had nothing going on. There was no gimick, it was just the red ranger. :(
What crappy misleading boxart. I never made the mistake again of even thinking of buying a power ranger toy and just stuck to Beast Wars

But seriously, what kind of souless company would have such awesome misleading boxart. Maybe they thought no one would beleive it could turn into a T-Rex, but it wasnt obvious to me (I was 9), my mom or the TRU clerks.

The company in question caught up with you eventually, Will (just, PR wasn't dinosaurs by then...)

I am loving Boss Monkey. I'm not one to be 'snobby' but this does feel like a 'Masterpiece' This is what MP toys were before TT confused it for a near main line of toys! There is so much detail and work gone into this. And it shows. Ironhide, Magnus, Hot Rod2.0...they seem so flat and belted out.

I wish the MP line was 1-2 GOOD new molds a year, maximum, again. :(
Shame about the robo legs at the back...but this guy has achieved so much else.

No. No it's not. G1 ended in 91/92, when G2 started. Beast Wars is part of the Beast Era. It's like Transformers: The Next Generation. Saying it's G1 is like saying Picard is the same as Kirk. Same continuity, but different times/eras.
