Yes, that. Those toys fascinated me as a kid. I would spend forever just flipping the heads around because it was so weird looking. I seem to remember a friend of mine had a bunch of Power Rangers ones that he would get mad at me for leaving with all of their heads stuck half-way flipped.
I really hope no one gets too peeved off that I am going off tangent about changing heads but this si a story I thought I would have no place to tell again (and that I just remembered). As a kid, my favourite toys were the ones that had a cool gimmick. Beast Wars toys going from beasts to robots was the best thing ever and that was always what I asked for on christmas and my birthday. I did spot this box once at toysrus and the bottom really impressed me:

It looked like he could change heads and turn from a power ranger into a T-Rex

So I asked my mom to read to make sure that's what it was. She read the marking below and confirmed that yeah, this guy should at least change his head into a T-Rex. I had transformers, so I knew you could do cool stuff with changing heads and modes but I didnt see how you could do it with such a humanoid toy. So we asked the clerk and I was hopeful. The clerk didnt know, so they decided to look into it with me and we opened the box together to see if the toy could indeed turn from a power ranger into a T-Rex like the box indicated at the bottom. It was full of suspense and I remember it well. When everything was removed I turned the toy around to see what kind fo mechanism this ingenius toy must have only to realize he had nothing going on. There was no gimick, it was just the red ranger.
What crappy misleading boxart. I never made the mistake again of even thinking of buying a power ranger toy and just stuck to Beast Wars
But seriously, what kind of souless company would have such awesome misleading boxart. Maybe they thought no one would beleive it could turn into a T-Rex, but it wasnt obvious to me (I was 9), my mom or the TRU clerks.
The company in question caught up with you eventually, Will (just, PR wasn't dinosaurs by then...)
I am loving Boss Monkey. I'm not one to be 'snobby' but this does feel like a 'Masterpiece' This is what MP toys were before TT confused it for a near main line of toys! There is so much detail and work gone into this. And it shows. Ironhide, Magnus, Hot Rod2.0...they seem so flat and belted out.
I wish the MP line was 1-2 GOOD new molds a year, maximum, again.
Shame about the robo legs at the back...but this guy has achieved so much else.
