BBTS Update On FansProject City Commander!

Posted by Tigertrack Oct 1, 2008 at 12:07pm CDT 8,853 views
BlackMagnus found out about a little change in plans by site sponsor BigBadToyStore, and City Commander Upgrade Set provider Fans Project.

According to the updated pre-order page for the Fans Project City Commander set, the set will be arriving to the store in Early October rather than September which was the previous release date.

Are we looking at a few weeks here, or will we see an even longer delay? Does early October mean first week, or before the 16th?

BlackMagnus just wanted the community to be aware so that you would not be frustrated about your pre-order for this popular set.

More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

It's certainly nice of BBTS to alert their customers IN OCTOBER that a product will not be available IN SEPTEMBER.

In other news, I'd like to announce that John Kerry will NOT win the 2004 presidential election.

Those dates for when products should arrive are ESTIMATES. Don't blame BBTS for being the messenger. BBTS gets some products in early, some products in late. They get them when their distributors ship the products to them. BBTS has the single best pre-order system. I wish you guys would stop bitching about dates that are out of BBTS' control. That's not fair to them.

Same boat, different household. I can't wait to get home today.

Even though I don't get money from BBTS :P , I still have to agree about their pre-order system. It's the best I've seen!

...and no complaints about the "Pile of Loot!" Your pile takes up very real space, and it would really be in BBTS's best interest to get your Sky Lynx or your Voltron out of their warehouse ASAP so they can make room for new inventory.

Don't forget BBTS lets you cancel your pre-order and they won't ask for a cent. They don't even have your $77 dollars yet, so you won't need to wait for a credit to be issued.

It's really a win/win with them!

I'm not blaming BBTS for the delay; I'm just pointing out the redundancy of the announcement, which I find amusing.

But as for being "fair to them"; I'll be fair to BBTS as soon as they offer fair prices. Their preorder system doesn't justify their excessive price markups.

Well, actually most of their pricing on new release stuff is pretty on-point.

In regards to things where they do have higher prices I will counter you with two points:

1. PoL allows you to recoup any mark-up if you play it right.

2. BBTS has a real and totally legit return policy. It has saved me on three seperate occasions on expensive figures. MP Starscream, Reissue Soundblaster, and Encore Prime were all factory defective. I got them exchanged with zero hassle. None. That alone is worth the mark-up.

Funny, life never really slaps me in the face. I guess being a man about dealing with life's issues helps me out in that regard.

Well I never said life slapped me in the face. I just have a very sarcastic way of dealing with things.

'Slapped in the Face' really needs to go into the TFwiki...

It's almost become banned verbage after the 07' Seeker debates. It's generally seen as an entirely over-dramatic response to issues of minor importance.

So I was expecting it to Come in October anyway.
Can't wait for TFsource to settle in and send that thing to me. :D

It's no biggie; in fact, this gives the Magnus I FINALLY scored off of eBay time to arrive before his armor does. I was afraid Henkei Convoy wouldn't hand it over if he wore it first. ;)

Sorry if I made it seem that way.

I love the pile of loot feature! I don't recall complaining, just anxious. I've been wanting these figures for a while, but I guess a couple more weeks of waiting is'nt going to hurt. They're are certain things I wait for to show up in stores, but BBTS usually has decent pricing on stuff that's normally only found online.

The fact that BBTS is actually holding onto my figures while I wait for City Commander is a relief for me. Being a college student and tight on money, I need to save every cent I can on shipping. The only reason I was even able to afford these is because I live at home instead of a dorm.

I still need to find an Ultra Magnus vs. Skywarp set. Looks like I'll need to spend about $50 to get a one.

What happened to the term 'Slapped in the Face' during the Seeker '07 episode was a slap in the face. It can never be used properly again.

I still think my favorite meme from TFwiki has to be "dull surprise".

Ah, the suspense continues to increase! I bet Seibertron's just laughing at all of us now :P

Seriously though, I'm fine with waiting an extra couple of weeks. Gives me a chance to get some more money together, plan out my shelves, and get excited all over again for the beauty to arrive. As long as it comes, I'm happy; after all, if it's as awesome as most seem to think it is, then it's worth the wait.

Maybe this will give you guys some help... I asked FP when BBTS and TFSource would be shipping out to customers, about 2 weeks ago. So they were expecting the shipments to arrive at US shipping docks last week. So basically, its probably just a small delay getting the shipments from out of the docks and to the store warehouse. :)

Hey guys I just got my City Commander Trailer, but I did not get it through BBTS. I bought mine off Ebay. A seller from Hong Kong is selling them for $139, (I paid $129) but it's the trailer and a Ultra Magnus/Prime 2-pack. It's worth the price considering that a loose Ultra Magnus is going for about $50. The shipping took almost 1 week, but that's faster than some people take to ship from the U.S. I must say I am very impressed, I posed him with leader class Megatron and he looks like he could take him! He's taller than movie voyager Prime, so he stands tall with the best of them. Totally Awesome!!!!! A+ for Fansproject! You won't be disappointed. Go to ebay for continue to wait to BBTS, me, I'm waiting for Cyclonus!

I was browsing eBay a few days ago, and saw an auction for the Ultra Magnus/Skywarp 2-pack, and the bidding was up to $90 and it wasn't over yet! Seems that the release of the City Commander is driving up demand for UM. Hasbro should realize that fan projects like this keep their fanbase strong and encourage sales. They should embrace this kind of stuff the way that some video game publishers have embraced the mod community. I'm not sure how they'd do that, but it seems like they're missing an opportunity to expand and bring TFs into the 21st century, the Do-It-Yourself age of YouTube and mods. What if they held a contest where fans could submit their own prototype molds, and the winner would actually be put into production? That would be a good start.
