Damn. Metroplex box twice the size of retail = higher shipping charges (if I even manage to snag it). Mini-figures unpainted and looking like 1986 decoys. I hate to sound like an old fart, but I'm starting to wonder if this is worth the effort and expense just to get a second red gun without forking over even more money for the Takara Tomy edition.

I'm liking the nice molds to reflect the Generations Deluxe line. I see Orion Pax there instead of Optimus. If I get a chance, I'll snag one. But I won't be disappointed if I only get the retail version.

Ah, so the minifigures are kinda like the decoys of the Generation One days. Though it's odd that they included an Orion Pax one and a War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron Starscream one.

This particular old fart happens to agree with you. The second red gun doesn't get you a Six-Shot figure so there isn't much point there and from my POV, given the size of those non transforming decoys, it would be more worthwhile to just pic up some loose mini-spies online to fill in that particular void if you want something close to scale. Yeah, you won't get the variety of cool designs and it looks as though one of those decoys is either Generations Scourge or the IDW Megatron that's soon to be released, but at least the mini-spies transform. In the end though it's up to you if you want to pay more for the little bit of extra bling and fancy packaging. I'm a cheap-skate so my opinion often doesn't coincide with the more avid collectors out there. It does look cool and the decoys do appeal to my nostalgic side so I'll admit to having a bit of indecision but my wallet is mightier than my nostalgic tendencies. I'm often amazed at how well it talks me out of purchases I'd otherwise love to make.

Count me as another 'old fart' that sees little to no value in getting this exclusive. One extra gun and some minis like that? Pass go, save a lot of money. [-(

Screw the extra gun and minis; I just want the chrome job! =P~

Factoring out difficulty and shipping, this set is only $25-40 more than the vanilla Metro. :-B But yeah, unless HasbroToyShop stocks this, I'm gonna end up with Vanilla-Metro. I'm not paying Poacher fees to those A-holes who managed to get to SDCC. :-x

I wonder what kind of limits they'll set at SDCC on this Metro... It'd be nice if one of us could make it to SDCC and just secure a sizeable stash to sell to Seibertron members! But I'm thinking it'll be something like "2 per customer" or less. :-?

"Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite" made me think they were both frozen. Together. Kinda disappointed that wasn't the case.

I have absolutely no clue as to what the Deadpool Squirrel and tacos are all about, but I like it!

Too bad we couldn't get a Six-gun figure. That would have been the icing on the cake.
Btw, pre-ordered the Tomy version.

I prefer the Takara deco. Those chrome hips look a bit odd to me.

I'm beginning to realize that I seem to like the SDCC boxes more than the figures. I really like that Metroplex box.

Shockwave's laboratory and the (almost confusingly named) Titan figures are easy passes. Really don't care for them. =;

I'm not as impressed by Metroplex as I thought I'd be. I wasn't expecting much from the twelve mini-figures, and while they are a nice little extra, I don't think they make this version more essential than either of the other two. Not really digging the chrome. It looks a little obnoxious here, and considering it may eventually chip off, again maybe not worth it. May just stick to Takara's version. Will be a damn sight easier to get hold of as well.

Probably during or after SDCC, which is 15 July. I can't imagine people getting them earlier than that.

All of the 12 little mini-figurines that come with Metroplex are super-detailed in sculpt and use designs of the Generations Thrilling 30 toys.

None of the SDCC exclusive TFs interest me this year (which is kind of a relief).

I like the GI Joe crossover set, but like the last two years, I assume it will be sold out within seconds.

I'm loving all of the disinterest in Metroplex... Maybe that means I have slightly more then a snowball's chance in hell of snagging it from the HTS! While the twelve extra figures don't look like anything hot, I'd love that extra gun and the chrome. (I normally don't care for extra chrome... but it looks good on Metroplex!)

The SDCC exclusives for Hasbro generally became available on their website Monday morning after SDCC. From my previous experiences a couple of years ago that meant anywhere from midnight to 6am. Is this still true?

Sometimes. I think last year saw releases on the Tuesday and then more and more was released through the day into Wednesday.
