Thanks to JT Prime we have a breakdown of the Studio Series coming out for the rest of the year. This shows us the month they are meant for release and which characters are getting repacked from previous waves. The good news here is that none seem shortpacked since WFC Megatron and Optimus are from previous waves. Speaking of "WFC", those listings are said to refer to the High Moon games. We also see that some toys from the Rise of the Beasts film will be available months after the release of the film, like Primal, Mirage and Nightbird. So it may be a while before fans know what they look like and decide if they should wait for those or buy the mainline versions.

So, based on what we see below, which will you be getting?

Wave 3: August

Core:
TF3 Bumblebee x4
86 Ironhide x4

Deluxe:
WFC Cliffjumper x3
86 Brawn x3
TF7 Bumblebee x2

Voyager:
TF7 Rhinox x2
WFC Megatron x1

Wave 4: November

Core:
2x 86 Frenzy
2x TF7 Delta 2
2x TF7 Hydra
2x TF3 Bumblebee

Deluxe:
TF7 Nightbird x3
TF7 Mirage x3
WFC Bumblebee x2

Voyager:
86 Ratchet x2
WFC Optimus x1

Leader:
TF7 Optimus Primal x1
86 Snarl x1

I still have Prime, Megatron and Bee from WFC, I wonder what the size differences will be with the new figures. IIRC the older figures were sold as deluxes.

They sure pushed Leader 86 Snarl out towards the end of the queue didn't they?

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the WFC game figures...

Thank you! I'm planning on painting the other NEST figures in a similar style.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they decided to introduce WFC during a movie year. Buzzworthy is at least helping out with the recent NEST figures and Optimus reissue (and hopefully we hear more about Hatchet soon), but yeah, it's kinda lame that the Bay movies are getting neglected this year.

It's very lacking scale wise with the only toys of the leader characters being deluxes.

By "leader characters" he means Optimus Prime and Megatron. They're just Deluxes.

Bumblebee's even bigger than both of them.

The WFC listings reffer to the high moon games, is that what you are talking about?

War for Cybertron the game, not War for Cybertron the Generations series. The original figure line did only five figures, all Deluxes, the new releases are going to take scale into account and do more characters.

It is though? Or are you talking about the TF7 in the listings? If so that's how hasbro always referred to the movies internally, with Bumblebee taking TF6. After all, officially no live action movie has used a number in it's title.

well Chefatron did have a SS86 Snarl review up a few minutes ago, but he removed it. I wonder if Hasbro finally is putting the hammer down?

I kick myself for not getting that one because of the prices it now commands, but at the time I thought $80 was bit much not understanding the full scope of what a Commander scale was. lol

This was back when Hasbro was still of the mindset of "Redesign everything! Never use an existing design from the 80s! Kids today don't care about the 80s! Screw G1-accuracy!"

I wouldn’t mind a little more of that mindset these days xD

I’m much more attached to the redesigns from the movies (and to a lesser extent Prime and WFC/FOC) than their G1 counterparts.

While my focus is always going to be geared towards G1 upgrades I'm not opposed to some of the new non animated or bay designs. Even though I'm not into ROTB Wheeljack as Wheeljack I can't deny it has some weird appeal to me, goofy glasses aside. I also kind of like Nightbird and even TLK Hod Rod and I very rarely like any of the Bay designs.

They could be done in the Selects line with redecos and minor retools of already existing figures. Wouldn't be that difficult. Now if you wanted all new molds for them, then yeah. You'll be waiting a while.

I think they meant reinvent like how the Dinobots were changed in Age of Extinction...which I would welcome, no problem with different takes on characters.

I just don't think Hasbro would bother since they never really caught on and were barely utilized well. I especially don't think they would incorporate the gimmick.

With o much to cover I'm sure several bots will get overlooked even if they are trying to do odd ones out like GoBots and such.

Hope we see some of the other KSI bots in the future like Junkheap, but what I’d really like is an AOE Hound and Bumblebee to take ‘em down!

My next project (looking to upload very soon) is another bot from this group!

While this wave was released a while back by online retailers (and found sparsely at Toysrus in Canada), many many fans were still looking for this wave in stores to no avail. Well, reports have been coming in the the past week of this 2022 fall wave finally appearing in Walmart stores, both in the US (in several states) and Canada simultaneously. This makes it the first time this wave has been found at a big box store in the US. It comes to show how all over the place brick and mortar distribution is now with this 2022 fall wave being found at the same time at the 2023 summer wave of legacy toys (that being the Legacy Evolution wave 2 core class figures).

This leaves TMII Dragon Megatron as the only 2022 toy not released in American big box stores, so far.
