Ha ha! There would have been 17 if I hadn't meddled in their affairs and bought one. I'm waiting on it to show up in the mail along with what sseems to be the very last club exclusive from last year's membership (referring Heatwave).

Really...
I suppose this explains why a good number of people didn't care about the problems with P/PC.
They've just lowered their standards.
Of course that would explain allot of things.

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/prod ... ode=retail <- cheaper. Especially for non-members like me.

I bought this guy from BBTS when they had their sale. Seems like a nice enough homage.

So let's see. This exclusive took about 2 years to finally sell out. That's never a good sign. I think part of the problem was the mold used for Nightbeat. While I don't mind Energon Hot Shot's mold, I know others despise it. My biggest beef has more to do with the head (pretty common complaint among exclusives). I don't mind the head, but the lack of antennae ruins the figure for me. I know there was some BS about them interfering with the transformation, but still. The original antennae/guns were removable. Would adding 2 small accessories have ramped up the costs that much? I have never liked the club's decision to abandon the antennae.

So to sum it up, the club was sooooo close to getting this exclusive right. Nightbeat would have been sold out long ago if antennae would have been included. I can almost guarantee it.

And if enough fans echo that complaint, maybe Headrobots will somehow fix it for us? Perhaps an accessory set called "Muzzle-Loader" because he'll also comes with a firepower upgrade like Hot-Head?

I just can't stand that mold. Antennae would definitely have been an improvement, but I would probably still have passed. There are just so many other molds that would have made a better looking Nightbeat.

Damn, these comments are almost making me regret buying the cheaper Nightbeat from BBTS last week.

Antennae would have been nice, but I can understand how they'd be prohibitably expencive.

I didn't care about the existance of antennae or lack thereof. Making him a headmaster would have been a stronger selling point I think. As for using Hot Shot's mold, that didn't bother me any. It's a decent mold.

WTF is prohibitably expencive? And what context is that being used in?

Okay, I probably spelled it wrong. It just means antennae accessories would be too expencive to do. I read somewhere that that is the reason they didn't make the antennae as seperate accessories, although I couldn't tell you where I read that.

I can believe it. The remolded heads alone are supposed to be really expencive for these exclucives, and all new accessories are probably in the same veign. Even if they're small.

Two reasons I did not buy him.

I did not like the mold
It is not a headmaster

Don't let the opinion of others make you regret a thing. There must be something about the figure that attracted you to it in the first place. Regardless of homage, the nightbeat paint job is so much better and makes it look better than the original figure.

Maybe your standards are too high.

That club nightbeat was so underwhelming that I stowed it under my bed, then bought a pristine headmaster nightbeat.

Could be the case. However, I think the comments in this thread highlight Nightbeat's shortcomings. Plus that pinhead for Punch/Counterpunch is laughable.

I see nothing wrong with high standards. As consumers, we can't just settle for whatever Hasbro (or the club) rolls of the assembly line. That's the power of the consumer dollar.

This is true, but the club does an excellent job giving us newish figures with the limited resources they have. It would be impossible for the club to give us brand new molds. The nightbeat paintjob looks much better than the original hotshot. P/CP has its problems but until Hasbro decides to give us a proper P/CP they did and excellent job.

I just read up on Marvel issue #62 (Bird of Prey!), and rekindled my desire for a Nightbeat (not the Mini-Con!). I don't buy online though...
