Thanks to multiple sources, we have several outlets where you can now buy the Platinum Edition Combiners Wars Liokaiser Boxset!

First up, for our Canadian friends up north, we bring to you news that Liokaiser is available at Walmart.ca for $149.97. The listing can be found HERE.

Up next, we have a reminder that Robot Kingdom has an order open for Liokaiser, as previously reported. Robot Kingdom lists Liokaiser for $109.90 and currently has him in-stock.

We also remind you of the Entertainment Earth catalog that shows that Liokaiser will be available from there for $129.99, which should qualify for the free shipping option Entertainment Earth offers.

Finally, Ebay has several listings up for Liokaiser, the cheapest of which have him averaging around $115 including shipping. We do ask that you be careful with these Ebay sellers though. Make sure to check their approval ratings before you commit to buy.

We will continue to keep you updated on any Liokaiser listings that make their way to us, so until then, stay tuned!

I'm amused that Guyhawk is holding Deathy's blade in his hand in arm mode.

Tempted by the 109.90 at Robot Kingdom but I'm still hoping that Takara makes a better more accurate one next year. That and I still don't like that "Deathsaurus" substitute (no bot mode anyway). So if Takara also makes an MP version that'll really render this Skylynx remold even more useless IMO.

So yeah, I'll pass.

RK has a good purchase price, but add on shipping it gets outrageous, and will bring it closer to $150 to ship to US. The best prices for LioKaiser are still on eBay, but as others have stated, caution should be taken. I've never had a problem, but I know others have.

I still don't see a listing for it on Entertainment Earth's website yet. eBay is a bit sketchy, & the shipping charge at Robot Kingdom is a bit steep, so I guess I'll wait and see at this point.

Entertainment Earth is only for their catalogue at the moment. You have to call their 800 number and place the order.

I feel you I'm always worried about eBay sometimes but make sure to look at their past 6-12 months of history and feedback. If it's all positive or 99% positive you're fine especially if it's a store's eBay account. Online store a take their rep very serious.

If it goes on rollback for around 100, I might jump on it.

Ordering a toy out of a catalog.....they're going all the way with the 80s nostalgia on this one!

$50 for the Insecticons Platinum set on Amazon. Good deal?

Thats what I bought it for. I think its a good deal, less than 20$ a piece for the insecticons. They go for about 20$ second hand complete on e-bay and here you are getting them minty fresh (with exclusive energon cubes made for their cockpits) so yes its a good deal. They look like little jewels.

back in April when my local K-Mart was closing, they had at least a dozen of these starting at $80, then every couple weeks the toy section would go down an additional 10%. Finally just before the store closed, a close friend bought the last 6 sets they had at 60% off ($31.99 each), but at the time I was seeing them all over eBay in the 30-40 dollar range and nobody was buying them. Of course I'm not a big fan of the Insecticons, but if I were still collecting I probably would have picked up the more compact release from TRU a few years back. I had every TRU re-release starting with the first assortment in 2004 (Prime, Magnus, and Hot Rod) all the way up until I think Astrotrain somewhere around 2006. I loved those toys, but I think the realization that they would never re-relese the original Megatron (aside form the Takara re-release), plus the fact that I was selling off my collection lead me to stop collecting that series.

That's some crazy distribution. Send a dozen to a store that's going to be closing while sending not a single one to the two Kmarts near me which are still open.

I know right? at first I thought it was a mistake because in my mind "Platinum" was somehow associated with "on-line only" as I had never seen one at retail. Of course *someone* here likes to flaunt their pics of Canadian stores that sell them as if its no bid deal. ;)

Of course the one Platinum I do want (LioKaiser) truly is an online exclusive as far as I know, thankfully it doesn't appear to be to difficult to acquire.

Has anyone got any side-by-side pics of the Insecticons with the 1980's originals - as they sometimes show up cheap I wanted to see if there was a reason to buy some more or not. Or if perhaps I should buy some more older ones. I'd certainly buy some more if they had some colour differences like different colour plastic.

-------

I'm still a little miffed that Blaster/Perceptor were the same colour as before as I considered that a missed opportunity to make a blue accented Perceptor instead of teal. or to at least re-issue Blaster with a different leg or different shade or finish to his red parts.

Considering how cheap and easy it is to get collectors edition Blaster I would have preferred a Platinum version to show some distinction.

Heck I like that idea in general - say G1 Tracks reissued with metallic blue paint / plastic for example and a tampographed hood sticker and chromed weapons.

There are no side by side pics, but from what I have heard in reviews, the colours are very close to the originals.

I found a seller that seems to be pretty legit. I ordered Liokaiser Tuesday night from a seller from Taiwan and it arrived today! I was expecting at least another week, so I did quite the happy dance when I saw the DHL truck.

Seibertronians, today we have some additional images of not only one of the most anticipated Combiners of the year, but one of the most anticipated figures of the year, Liokaiser! Thanks to Seibertronian TF-fan Kev777, we have up-close-and-personal looks at all of the figures included in this set, minicons and all. Check out the photos and tell us in the comments below: do these additional pictures change your mind on this classic Combiner team, now that it's starting to become more and more available? Is the price Tag for the set too high? Are there any design changes you would have made to maybe make the set more accurate? Please let us know!

Is he really that anticipated? Seems like the people who actually like him (I'm one of them) are in the minority. Or maybe it's the complainers that are in the vocal minority? Seems like more people like the idea of the set (without Dezarus) than actually like it.

1.) He's the first modern reinterpretation of the most awesome G1 Combiner ever
2.) The original Liokaiser is hard to find
3.) One if his components, Killbison, suffers from Gold Plastic Syndrome

So yes, he is anticipated. ;)

I dunno. Victorion, Technobots, hell Scrounge, were highly anticipated (not to mention figures like MP Shockwave or Primal). With Liokaiser, everyone's just waiting for the replacement already. That's not really impressive.

OK, but on the other hand...
1.) It's hardly an ideal interpretation lacking two key members (including the team leader!) and replaced by someone that wasn't part of the original team
2.) It's still a very obscure character for any casual fan, unlike the bulk of the CW teams making it a difficult sell.
3.) Hasbro CW figures aren't exactly substitutes for Japanese G1 figures.

Compared to the likes of the Technobots, Combaticons, and Sky Reign, to say nothing of the UW stuff coming out of Japan or the Titans Return, Legends, and Masterpiece stuff he seems a little low on the 2016 "OMG I NEED THAT!" list. Especially when so many people seem to be hoping for a sale before they buy it.
