Do the pile drivers just slide over the existing arms, or do the arms have to be removed?

They just slide on. You wouldn't be able to remove the lower arms on a G1 they are riveted on. I'm not seeing that much of a difference in the new guns they are providing and the originals outside of the finish.

Hah. I never realised they animated them holding the guns upside-down in the cartoon.
