All this and DOTM hasn't even opened in Japan yet, which it will later this week. It is safe to say that DOTM will reach the $1 Billion mark. Perhaps fans can celebrate by going to see DOTM again.
More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

Well... Yeah. This was obviously gonna happen.
Didn't expect it to happen this soon, but I expected it to happen.

The biggest reason this is happening is actually quite simple, and you'll read about it in various articles about recent top-grossing movies. This Transformers movie, like many other recent movies, is in 3D, meaning they can charge a higher price. That means more revenue per person, so even if the same number of people see it, they'll pull in more money. In fact quite a bit fewer people could see it and they'd still make more, because 3D prices can be as much as 50% higher than normal prices. It's like inflation, except that you actually are getting some "value" added (not simply buying the same product, i.e. 2D, for a higher price), and you have to factor that in when making comparisons. Of course thanks to regular inflation, where the dollar simply becomes worth less and less over time, future movies will forever continue to break past records because it will cost more dollars to see them, regardless of their actual quality or how many people saw them.

That's the FIRST thing I thought when I saw this article.
There is NO WAY the TF Movie franchise is over, my friends.

1 Michael Bay revive Starscream give him his own team
2 revive megatron and turn him into galvatron
3 Bring on unicron
4 Have unicron planning to devour the earth
and the Autobots and Decepticons team up to defeat him and galvatron

Neither Hasbro nor the movie studio is going to want to give us too much of a break with this kind of box office success. Numbers don't lie. This movie is a hit, and hasn't even opened in Japan yet.

I watched a 2nd time today, and was amazed that 3+ weeks later the theater was still quite full for this film. I think the 3D is as good or better than Tron:Legacy, but still not up to Avatar quality.
As for the film, I like it quite a bit. I'll need to rewatch the 2nd film now to see if I like it more than when I saw it in the theater. I hated it in the theater. Same thing happened with Indiana Jones 4, and then I liked it more when I watched it again as I tend to forgive many of the flaws on later viewings. The truth of it is these movies are hell of a lot better than I ever expected live action transformers movies to be. I don't think Bay is a good director, but I think he is perfect for something as corny as making a live-action Transformers movie.

DAAAAANNNNNGGGGG......
That's uber impressive. The Japan thing is really surprising. I thought ROTF made big money, this thing is crazy! Pretty much confirms a fourth movie.
