Fansproject Crossfire 02 Set Delayed Again

Posted by Seibertron Jul 18, 2010 at 11:07pm CDT 29,526 views
Fansproject has once again updated their site with news about the upcoming Crossfire-02 Bruticus upgrade. According to the new message, an issue with the mold caused final QC problems. However, to their credit, they're reworking the mold to correct the problem prior to the set's release. The latest message is below:

"FansProject will start shipping out both Explorer & Munitioner in the first week of August. We find out from the final QC check that two pieces will not perfectly fit all versions when combine into giant robot mode.  To keep our level of quality, we had remold and replaces that two pieces for the whole shipment.

We are deeply sorry for the delay and Thank you for your patient!"

Disappointing, but the set should definitely be worth the wait.

More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

It doesn't sound like it's another delay to me, it sounds more like they're explaining the reason for the delay.

Either way, it's all good to me, I've been (somewhat) patiently waiting for a long while now.

I wonder what the difference is between the different versions of Bruticus that causes the set to not fit perfectly. How many versions are there? Just Energon and ROTF right? Is the Takaras' different from Hasbros'?

I'm okay with it. I've been having money issues the past couple months & this gives me time to prepare my budget for it.

It's nice that they're making sure the end product is as good as possible, but I hope these aren't delayed that much; I don't want to wait until September for these guys to arrive.

I appreciate their concern for the product and the fact that they are planning on correcting the issue. My only problem, and it's very minor, is that if this last shipping date wasn't going to be met, then they should have let us know sooner. These two figures were to ship the last week of June and here it is nearly 2/3's of the way through July and we're just now getting a reason for the delay. But I'm willing to overlook this tiny oversight for the sake of receiving two excellent quality toys.

While I appreciate that they are trying to work out the kinks in regards to weaknesses in the mold so as to put out a satisfactory product for their buyers, I found the previous delays intolerable enough as it was and therefore this one takes the absolute piss for me.

My birthday is tomorrow and my mom pre-ordered these sets with the understanding that they would be here in time for said date. If I had known this was going to happen I would've had her cancel the order when we still had the chance and instead spend the money on Figuarts and save these guys for some other occasion.

Worst of all it's also holding back a Henkei Megatron since I had it all put in the pile of loot! :BOOM:

Oh man, I've been waiting for this set like a rabid dog since I found out about it. Bruticus Maximus is quite possibly my favorite combiner to date (toy not character). I pre-ordered this bad boy back in February. So yeah, I'm about to explode if I don't get it soon.

That being said, I would MUCH rather see it delayed so we get a better quality product then have it in my hand right now. Holy crap, this totally gives me a new level of respect for FP. Good on you!

It takes stones to not only admit that a mistake was made but to man up, take the hit for remaking those parts, and replacing them in every set before shipping them out.

Am I ticked these aren't already on my shelf? Yes.
Was I worried about the delays with not word of why? Yes.
Am I OK with the delays, seeing that we now know of a QC issue that while it won't even effect everyone buying them, but they felt was important enough to delay and correct before shipping. Absolutely.

Kudos to FP for wanting their QC to be that important.

As for ruined. FP isn't some huge corporation that is trying to screw you over, they are a small group of fans like us that banded together to make these projects. How many e-mails do you think these guys are getting every single day? If you got a bad unit, why didn't you just return/exchange it with the retailer you bought it from?

I will gladly wait another month to get my hands on these guys. Hopefully this delay will give my local Zellers a chance to put all their RTOF Bruticus on clearance!

Im ruined, I believe you should be contacting the retailer, not FP. I did that for my City Commander, who's hand was glued so it couldn't rotate, and TFSource sent me a replacement hand. No dramas.

Grats to FansProject for ensuring their products are high quality. I can certainly wait longer for my preorder if it means a better figure. You'd have to be mad to complain about that.

I just shipped a Pile-o-Loot from BBTS, just missing Arcee & Paradron's release.

I probably won't do another till around Christmas.

So, for me, it's all the same till then :-)

Check them now. My local Z, had 3 of them in the clearance aisle last Thursday. They are tagged at $47.95 but they scan for under $34.

I am so glad that this is the general attitude of this forum with the regards to the delay.

Ruined, parts replacement should be handled by your retailer because they're the ones who sold it to you, they're ones who goals include customer service, and they're ones who made a contract with you (yes, your receipt is a form of contract under law). Not trying to piss you off, but inform you as to who you should be taking your beef with. Also, I like the drawing. Rough, but promising.

Yeah, more kudos for Fansproject making their product worth the price. I really wonder how much they're actually making off of each one sold. The quality is mostly excellent, but can't be cheap at that volume.
