Might have to get this one. Keep my original G1 Hound company.

Nice, I'll likely pick him up as my Tf collection hound has a rusty screw from brand new in packaging
plus it can replace the wfc garbage that's on my shelf

Totally down for this! I'm not getting Legacy Hound because my Universe Hound doesn't need to be replaced, but the G1 toy would be distinct enough to avoid feeling redundant.
I've always wanted to see the Autobot Cars reissued. Normally it's been the same G1 figures getting reissued, which I thought was because the pool of available molds to use was just that limited. That Hound is getting one is a nice change of pace.

I'll be getting this. I didn't have the original and wasn't importing when the reissue came out in Japan (it wasn't reissued by Hasbro) so I need one in my collection even if it does look like it was molded out of Laffy Taffy.

Still have the Takara Book-Reissue from almost 2 decades ago, so I'm on the fence bothering with this Hound...unless a local Wal-Mart gets too many and clearances them out.
As to which early G1 mold I'd like to see reissued in show colors? I may be RIR/FIB for eternity, but Rumble in Sunbow-purple would be really cool.
(Yes, I have the Hasbro MP)
And while they're at it, they could repaint the mold into all the cassettes in that crowd shot in the middle of MTMTE part 2!
Show-accuracy for nameless generics!

Considering what fans have done with the Seekers it's amazing that all of these tapes don't have names.

You know what surprises me? That with all the animation errors involving seekers, they never retconned in a seeker whose special ability was to change his color pallette to mimic others, sewing confusion.

How cool! This is great news, I bet he’ll sell well.
Having just watched Sixo’s video on the G1 toy I’m actually hoping for a Retro (Targetmaster) Kup, despite a prior total lack of imterest in the figure. I’m also really hoping for Mirage and maybe one of the Lambo moulds.
And Shockwave…EDIT: sorry, I missed william-james88’s comment about price point. In my dreams lol!

That Hound have a "knock off" look with nothing shiny whatsoever. But if the price is right, I'll still buy it.

I'll pass since I haven't been into OG reissues. However this being the first time and Original Hound has ever been offered by Hasbro (was only offered By Takara back in 2004), this will be extremely popular, no doubt.

That's my thinking - I'm hoping (foolishly optmistic?) that such a finish will be reflected in a sensible price for him and any others who follow. I would LOVE some G1 toys but cannot afford to go for originals right now.

Even the KO are expensive as Hell. Plus they are very, very cheaply made.
As for prices, so far both Hotrod and Starscream are at the price of voyagers. Hound should be the same. And for a G1 toy, that's a perfect price. They're no leader priced trailerless Optimus.

We had seen that the G1 reissue of Hound in cartoon colours was made available for fans wanting Transformers toys first through Asian retailers, so a video "review" was inevitable, and we now have one on Christmas day. While many know the classic transformation, this video will show you what the cartoon deco looks like in all angles in both modes. There are no comments, just music. While there is no chrome, the die cast has apparently not been replaced by plastic. This toy has yet to be revealed by Hasbro.

Nice to see a G1 TF that hasn't been reissued to death. I don't think Hound has been released since the TFC series.

Despite the no-show of chrome, if it's prices similarly as Starscream and Hotrod, I'm getting it.

So I guess I'm the only one not impressed by this? It's nice that G1 hound is getting some attention, but I just don't like the shade of green or his build in general. Oh well, more for you guys. I just think Hasbro could have done better.

Most are unimpressed with the execution. The excitement comes from another opportunity you own an iconic G1 toy.

I like it. As a cartoon color figure I think it pulls it off well, chrome wouldn't have fit that aesthetic. Not surprised they kept the diecast, probably would have cost more to make new plastic molds than to just keep the diecast intact. It's not as easy as filling the diecast molds with plastic, they don't even go in the same molding machines.

I believe this has more to do either with appealing to metal fans, or with structural integrity that plastic would otherwise compromise. Besides, metal pieces are solid, something unheard of for plastic pieces.
