José Delbo, artist on the original Marvel comics Transformers series, will be appearing at Past Present Future Comics in West Palm Beach, Florida. He will also be making an appearance the following weekend at ComicsFest, the convention at the Museum of Art in Coral Springs, FL - who also have a gallery of Delbo's work on show.
In more recent creators, Transformers vs G.I. Joe writer and artist Tom Scioli will be at Challengers Comics in Chicago for FCBD, and has also been announced as a guest at HeroesCon in Charlotte, NC. More information on the event can be found here.
So if you're in the area this Saturday 2nd May, drop by a comic shop, grab some free comics and bring along your own to get signed!
More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

Obviously there is an extreme cultural difference that is fueling your sarcasm. South Florida has a heavy Latino population among other minorites that shun most collectiing hobbies. Most of the comic book shops, baseball card shops, vintage vinyl shops, and hobby shops closed years ago because they werent making enough money to cover the rent let alone make a profit. There are a few but not many. You have to go up further north where there is a larger population of white Americans who still embrace collecting. Its a cultural thing. If I asked you to go outside to your backyard and catch a dingo or koala, you would tell me I dont know a thing about your part of Australia. Same thing here about Miami.

The link provided above shows a minimum of ten shops. I count 5 in the Miami area, 14 between Fort Lauderdale and Leisure City (96 km, more or less). An extra two are listed as permanently closed in the Miami area.
By comparison, central London, UK, has four shops, one fewer than Miami.
Stores in Miami participating in the Free Comic Book Day initiative are the following (found via this):
Games of Gauntlet
Mac's Comics and Collectables
Korka Comics
Movie Stop Store
Superheroes Unlimited
No special Transformers events, but there is the issue #0 of the Robots in Disguise series as part of the free books on offer.

Cool thanks. Ill have to check them out. None of them are super close, but alot closer than west palm beach county. Im not really a comic guy, but hobby shops sell a lot of cool stuff.
On a separate note, what did you tech guys do before the internet? Theres a large number of social people like myself who still live by word of mouth. Dont get me wrong, if I hear about something locally and want to know more Ill "google it". But if the word on the street is that it doesnt exist locally, I generally go off that.

The internet came into my house when I was a teenager. I usually take recommendations by friends and acquaintances, and double check location/accessibility with a quick search.
Word of mouth is just a starting point. And we're already on the internet.

I went to the Coral Springs ComicFest in Coral Springs, Florida last weekend to get José Delbo to sign some Botcon filecards he penciled. But there was an unannounced guest there who also had a hand in the Marvel G1 comic-Dan Reed! Since he was mostly a Marvel UK guy I was surprised to see him. But it turns out he lives in southern Florida and is returning to the convention circuit. This was his first show in forever.
Since I remembered him best as the guy who penciled and inked 'Kup's Story' I had him draw me a Kup. I also did a little gallery of pictures I took at the show with him and Delbo here:

The lovely folk over at Anime Blues Con (July 10-12) in Downtown Memphis have dropped us a line about not one but three Transformers voice actors in their guest line-up: Garry Chalk, Scott McNeil and Trevor Devall! You'll remember the former two as major parts in the Transformers: Beast Wars animated series, and Devall as a recurring role in both Energon and Cybertron. Head here to check out more detail about the event, and more about the guests below!
In addition to his rich film and television resume, Garry Chalk’s animation career spans 30 years and over a thousand episodes of cartoons. Among them Optimus Prime and Primal in The Transformers, Energon, Beastwars, Gi Joe, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Watchmen, Reboot, and many, many more. Recently, he starred as Sky Marshall Wade in the new hit series, Voltron Force as well as in Cedar Cove. Further, Chalk will be seen in the new Godzilla film in 2014!
Scott McNeil - After appearing in a few films and two episodes of Highlander: The Series, he provided voices for Beast Wars, as Waspinator, Dinobot, Rattrap, and Silverbolt. He has described this as the work he is most proud of. On another fan favorite show, Dragon Ball Z, he was cast as the original voice of Piccolo and various other characters. He then provided the voice of Duo Maxwell on Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Principal Kuno on Ranma 1/2.
Trevor Devall is a prolific voice artist, having performed in hundreds of animated productions including television movies, series, feature films and video games. Some highlights: Rocket Raccoon of Guardians of the Galaxy in Marvel’s Ultimate Spiderman, Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious, Admiral Ackbar and Jar Jar Binks in Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles, Iron Will, Hoity Toity and Fancy Pants (for which he was nominated for a UBCP Award for Best Voice) on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Dukey on Cartoon Network’s Johnny Test, Captain America and others in Marvels’ Wolverine vs Sabretooth, Jayce on the globally popular League of Legends video game, Colossus on Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men, Dad on Disney’s Kid vs Kat, Mu Laflaga in Gundam Seed, Togusa in Ghost in the Shell-SAC, Mr. Palmer, Ike and many others onZeke’s Pad, Moordryd Payne on Dragon Booster, Aizawa on Death Note, Chang and the maniacal Irishman Leigarch on Black Lagoon, Alpha Q in Transformers: Energon,Pyro in X-Men: Evolution, Wild Weasel in G.I. Joe: Valor vs. Venom, Scourge in Transformers: Cybertron, and the voice of the alien helmsman Hermiod on Stargate: Atlantis.

Anybody know if there's going to be a big Transformers presence at Florida Supercon in Miami Beach on June 25-28? I'm thinking about taking a drive down, but only if there's some cool bot stuff to check out.

If you go for the G1 Marvel comics artists it can be a cool show. Just off the top of my head I know Jim Shooter will be there and he wrote the Transformers comics bible. He created Cybertron and the Witwickys and a lot of the mythos. He's pretty much Transformers ground zero. He alone would be a great signature on TF #1. Jose Delbo will be there and he's done everything from old Marvel pencils to a guest stint on Regeneration One to the file card art for Botcon exclusives. Michael Golden did the cover to Marvel TF #2. Mike Zeck did a cover to Wizard with Megatron and Snake-Eyes on it. I guess it depends on what kind of fan you are and what you consider a big presence.

Peter Cullen and Frank Welker will be at Rhode Island Comic Con this November 6-8. Details are a little sketchy but it looks like you can get a combo package with both of them for $224, which is less than the $300 Texas Comic Con in San Antonio is charging for a combo experience with both of them.

Awesome news for those of us in the 401.
Don't know if i will be able to swing the price tag but, wow, this is a hell of an opportunity for any TF fan in New England.
