Earlier this month the new saga began with IDW's TRANSFORMERS: The MOVIE PREQUEL #1 started off with a bang. Now the excitement continues with with the second chapter in the saga, TRANSFORMERS: The MOVIE PREQUEL #2. The Autobots and Decepticons are in a race in search of the Allspark, when the bots arrive on Earth. Will the Autobots prevail or will Megatron win? Who knows what will happen as the battle field shifts to Earth. The only way to know is to pick up a copy of TRANSFORMERS: The MOVIE PREQUEL #2. You can check out a five page preview of the TRANSFORMERS: The MOVIE PREQUEL #2.
After you get your copy you can post a review for this issue here.
Thought Soundwave was great, but the movie prequel wasn't wort the $4, although the cameos in the museum were amusing.
I know I recognized BW Megatron's last fragment of the Golden Disk, a sketch of Cosmos, a chunk of energon (purple crystals), a chunk of those red crystals Megatron tried to lure the Autobots into to kill them in G1, and what looks like the severed hand of a Predacon, specifically, Magmatron. I figure the three-eyed skulls and the diagram behind them must be significant, but I can't place them.
Well, my FP today had two copies of Spotlight: Soundwave (both the Marcelo cover) and about the same number of copies of TFTM Preview #1, both the (I think) BB non-wrap cover, plus a pile of Generations that they don't seem to be able to shift. They've been a bit crap for TF comics lately...
I enjoyed the Soundwave spotlight, unimpressed by the Movie preview on a first read. Even with Don on art duty, I found it pretty difficult to tell which character I was supposed to be looking at in any given panel, and TBH the movie designs are still just killing it for me. Don makes them look better than the CGI, but even he can't save them IMO.
I've read Movie Preview 2 today and for my money it seems to be more interesting than anything I've seen about the actual film. I really like the scenes set at the fin de siecle. They're clothes and facial hair look awfully familiar... I would have liked to have seen more of whoever this group conspiring to cover the truth is. I would quite happily buy another two issues if they focused entirely on these chaps, rather than Bumblebee, etc.
That said, I am still not convinced by Megatron sinking into the ice. Even if his body temperature caused the ground to cave in, I don't believe that he wouldn't have time to transform and escape. In fact, I wasn't convinced that he failed to restrain his reckless abandon when entering Earth's atmosphere in the first place.
