Funko is Giving Transformers Themed NFT Trading Cards Another Go

I know what you needed more of in your life, NFT trading cards showing Funko Pop toys based on Mr Potatoe Head dressed up as either Bumblebee or Optimus Prime. Well Funko is there to help with their latest NFT lottery offering (here is a link to their previous one). It was revealed on their site that their next NFT lottery will include Mr Potatoe Head Transformers Funko pops among other Hasbro "retro" toys themed pops. Below is a breakdown of how it works, written by Pcsolyar, along with the NFTs and images of the physical Funko Pops you might win through this.

You buy a digital pack of NFTs (5 NFTs for $9.99 or 15 for $29.99) and have a very small chance of getting a rare one that comes with the physical product redemption. Optimus is the "grail" of the wave, with a 0.28% pull rate. The other 5 physical redemptions, including Bee, have a 1.72% pull rate. Most people just get worthless ones. It's just digital trading cards with the NFT buzzword tacked on and the chance to win a physical Pop! figure. And if you collect the full set, excluding the physical redemption ones, you get a bonus physical Funko of their mascot in a Hasbro t-shirt holding a Simon game.

These were successful enough last time to warrant a second go? That's unfortunate.

Electronic Arts would be so proud of Hasbro giving Funko the go-ahead on this.

Sad to read that this isn't their first rodeo with the NFT scam.

I'm glad to confirm that cranial nerves 3, 4, and 6 are fully functioning on me...because they just got sorely tested as I rolled my eyes so hard that my right eyeball made a popping sound...

The more I think about it, the more they're like those decorative prizes you can win in any given "free-to-pay" mobile game... >:oP

They will keep pushing that NFT garbage as long as people are willing to buy them.
Meh, business as usual.

Business people are simply people who have identified a niche and provided a service for it. In this case, they've identified the super-hipster niche who like digital things and don't have any brain power and believe that something with no physical form will not appreciate in value.

If the Eskimo is willing to buy ice, sell it to them.

Those digital Trump trading cards doubled in value.

NFTs will go up in value as much as people think they will (and buy them accordingly)

I know these were highlighted under the ROTB discussion but i thought i would post this here. At a Target in Springfield, MO I was able to find the Target exclusive ROTB Rhinox. In addition while looking on the shelves were they stock other Funko Pops, my wife found Optimus Prime for me.

Have to say for his size, Optimus Prime is very detailed. Whether I find the rest in a store or order them online, look forward to completing this group.

I found two more at a F.Y.E. store in the local mall. That would be Arcee and Scourge. As you can see from the photos Arcee does include a stand. I wasn't sure if it was connected like the stand for Rhinox. Again, for their sizes, they have a lot of detail.

So, I found the Big 3 at Gamestop, as well as an exclusive I somehow completely missed.

Sweet find D. I haven't found Primal yet. I spotted Mirage but didn't buy him ( i need to). Now that two pack is really cool. The GameStop stores near me don't seem to carry that much in regards to Transformer stuff but need to start looking.

Wild title, I know. But did you know that the only Funko Pop from Beast Wars so far was Cheetor and that the only way to get him was by redeeming a token that could only be purchased with crypto currency? This is not a joke, Cheetor was part of Funko's NFT release where buying Funko NFTs would give you a chance to get a token that could be redeemed for a physical item. And these tokens could be purchased (and sold) through the droppp.io marketplace where it could only be purchased with crypto currency. And some hardcore fans did all that.

But you (probably) won't need to since the Funko line is now expanding to Beast Wars in 2025. The news comes from Skittlerampage who pulled from various Twitter account. The rumours are that next year we will get BW Megatron, Optimus Primal, Rhinox and Blackarachnia. That does mean that Cheetor remains a crypto exclusive for now.

In other funko Transformers news, we did get an image of an upcoming Soundwave Funko Pop which has a helmet which you can open up to reveal one of his cassette bots controlling him, men in black style.
