Courtesy of ACToys we have some in-hand images of Hasbro's upcoming version of MP-10 Optimus Prime along with comparison shots with the original Takara release. Images mirrored below. There is also a rumor circulating that the Hasbro version will see a "wide release", rather than being a store exclusive. Take that with the normal dose of salt until officially confirmed.

The Hasbro version appears to use lighter colored plastics in general, comes with a blue roller, Spike has some alternate paint on his sleeves and painted pupils, etc.

Boo to the lighter blue. But I'll get it because it's cheaper. I'll make it darker anyway.

Why does the US always get these corny shades of color? So sick of it. Here's a blue that looks cool, and here's one to catch the eye of 7 year old american boys....

Just give me a trailer. I have the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime who never got the same love as MP versions. Please no remakes of incomplete products.

50 Shades of Optimus.

Like always, I disagree with robofreak. Definitely prefer Takara's darker blue.

I like each one for different reasons. Light blue is nice for the cartoon accuracy. Dark blue hearkens not only to the show models over time, but also the dark blue of the G1 toy.

With this one being $150 cheaper than the original, I will have to go with this one though.

MP-04 is still my favorite

And that's why I didn't get the Takara release (like I normally do with my MP's).

Would definitely prefer Takara but I might have to face facts, I have a mortgage.

Though another reason I didn't get the initial Takara release was to hold out for a hopeful Ultra Magnus set.

Im hoping the rumor of the wider release is true. That will drop the price overall and make more available. The SDCC shots from this site say "Transformers Exclusive",but not for where. But the shots here, non show the front of the box, which worries me.

If I remember correctly, when the Hasbro version was announced at Botcon it was said to be a Toys'R'Us exclusive. I certainly won't mind if that doesn't turn out to be the case, though. :D

Although I do prefer the colors on the Takara edition, I don't think the Hasbro versions colors are bad. And at their relative price points I'll definitely be picking up the Hasbro version as soon as I can find it. :BOT:

Hmm...the Hasbro version actually looks BETTER, overall.

Also noticed that the packaging mentions Hasbro Canada on it. Which means this was probably meant for stores in Canada. Probably Toys R Us since they don't really care so much about the French language laws and I don't see any French on the packaging. So where the heck is this figure?! I want my MP-10, damn it!

I just want to point out the box that say:

HASBRO CANADA LONGUEUIL QUÉBEC MADE IN VIETNAM FABRIQUÉ EN VIETNAM.

I bet my lest nut that the asswipes at Toys R Us will never have it in Québec stores because there's not enough french on the box.
 :BANG_HEAD:  :michaelbay: :HEADHURTS: :BOOM:

NOT more cartoon accurate. The Takara version was...is. I was excited about this until I saw the pics. Ugh :-( I really didn't want to buy the Takara version, but that's the way it's looking. Then again, I may not have to if I put it on my x-mas list. 8)

Can someone explain to me why Hasbro does this crap? I can understand cutting back on the silver or any shiny color app, but altering tones to intentionally make them look different? Sigh.. annoying.

I'm thinking, maybe I should purchase Hasbro Prime (in addition to my current MP10). Once TTomy release an armor MP UMagnus, then the Hasbro Prime can serve as the inner core of the armor fighting along side with the TTomy white robot Magnus. Then my dream display will be completed   :

Not too bad at all, but I'm still glad after seeing the comparisons that I picked up the Takara version.

I'll be skipping this one from Hasbro. I do like how they painted the lights on top yellow though. I may have to do the same on my MP-10 :).

I think perhaps, in this case, they've gone for comic colours.

I'm glad I got the Takara version.

For my part, owning an MP-10, I sort of prefer the way the Hasbro version optics were colored. More noticeable/ prominent unlike the Tomy version. Spike too has more details(surprise surprise) though the cab of the truck has less paint details except for the overhead headlights(again, surprise surprise again).

Though I kind of not like the washed out colors.....looks a bit on the cheap(maybe the reason for the price difference?) like the infamous G1 anniversary version released a few years ago by Hasbro or better yet, like the MP-01 mold DVD version.

I don't mind the colours on the Hasbro one. Yes, in comparison, the Takara is more in line with the G1 toy, but the US/Europe(pwease?) release is toon/comic colours and doesn't look bad. The shade of blue is different, but other than that, there's the lights on the cab now painted, and the bits on the wheel arches not, so it balances out fine for me.

Other than the shade of blue, there aren't many differences on Prime. I like the painted yellow lights on the top part of his cab. Looks nice for such a small touch. For $100, I'll pick him up as well.

I think I would actually shed tears of joy if the rumors come true about the Magnus armor. Idc if they charge $300 if it's done right and I would die happy if they released mp wheeljack

 Oh boy, oh boy! What can I say about this?

Well, comparing the two...
I like the shade of red of the Hasbro version, but the shade of blue of the Takara version.
I like the bright optics of the Hasbro version, but the lemon shade of yellow of the Takara version.
I like the shiny trailer of the Hasbro version, but the silver Roller of the Takara version.
I like the better-painted Spike of the Hasbro version, but the dimmer shade of gray of the Takara version.
But, the deciding factor:
Gauntlet101010 wrote:I prefer the colors of the Takara version.

I prefer the price of the Hasbro version.
Yeah, I'll have ill choice but to get the Hasbro version.

Though, the differing shades of blue reminds me of the light blue variant of G1 Optimus Prime from back in the 80's.

But, then again, these pictures seem kinda low quality. What we need is a full blown Seibertron.com Toy Gallery to give a toy comparison between these two the proper justice they deserve. I'm sure there's one coming down the line, but just sayin'. :-B

Over the past couple years, I've discovered a deranged solution:

Buy both! #-o

I open the Takara versions and put them on display, and keep the Hasbro versions MISB. The Hasbro versions - Grimlock, Rodimus, and now Prime - come in the nice windowed boxes for easy display. The Takara versions, on the other hand, come in black, not quite-so-attractive boxes.

Stop looking at me like that... :HEADHURTS:

:/

I can probably deal with the lighter colors, but the painted-over eyes are what's kind of killing it for me. :( I really prefer the transparent jeweled look of the Takara version.

Still, I'll reserve final judgement for when I see a better gallery or in person. And it's not like I can afford the Takara version anyway...

I guess he still looks good in the SDCC gallery:

Maybe it's just the lighting in this one.

I like the Takara price better, it's more elite and killer for my wallet.

I like the Hasbro paint better, cuz I love cartoon accuracy.

I think I'll go for the hasbro one, SDCC Bruticus has made me near homeless. My gawd, ebay........ Next year I'll be @ Santiago my self!

MUST..RESIST...

I prefer the lighter blue in the alt mode, and the darker blue in the 'bot mode. Spike is much better. I said I wouldn't buy this, but if it makes it to the UK< it will be very difficult not to! I still think that in alt mode, the legs look way too thick.

I wonder if the lighting or the camera flash (if used) made the Hasbro version look lighter? Still, who cares. It saves you a bunch of cash. I will buy on sight when it comes to the UK. :)

A couple of cheap and simple fix, squint your eyes when you look at the Hasbro version to cut down on the the light you let into your eyes OR stand the figure in a shadow. Sorted.

The lighter colours are a little garish, but they do also seem more cartoon accurate especially with the lighter eyes. The lower price also makes this hard to resist compared to Takara's version.

im only half as exited for this as i should be....but i had to go out of state for grimlock, online for rodimus, and as far as hasbro goes both my mp rodimus and skywarp are broken, skywarp had broken tail fins (lucky for me found another at walmart) and rodimus literally broke under his own weight somehow and is now glued permanantly into vehicle mode. Both my takara rodimus and black rodimus are fine, so i dont getbwhy that happened. Plastics on hasbros end do seem a lot cheaper these days....ill get prime but he is going in a glass case never to be touched again lol :michaelbay:
