Headrobots Hothead Alternate Universe Version Preorder at BigBadToyStore

I might be inclined to mix and match guns here. Anyway, preorder placed. I'm also pissed that I missed a "Knight Rider" version of Snake in vintage.

Im kind of torn here. I already have the original but I really like this version.

Ah, just what I said I wanted in a Hothead thread months ago. Thanks for coming through guys! Now our G1 Hardheads can finally look the way he did from the day he ripped his noggin off to impress the Nebulons, to the day he got squished by Unicron.

What happened to the original mold ??? Dont they own it ??? Why will another run of the original cost more then a run on this this new version ??? Isnt the molding process the same ??? I smell a rat. This anime version was probally planned all along after selling out the original version. Sounds to me like they want to capitalize off of people who cannot decide whether they prefer a G1 toy look or a G1 anime look. This is simply a business strategy.

I get what your saying but Im a little confused. Dont most of these 3rd party companies make this stuff out of a garage or a small home workshop ??? Other then the cost of a small amount of raw plastic and some time to mold, bake, and assemble, where are they taking a serious hit ???

The original came with a card that can be mass produced cheaply at Kinkos. The plastic bubble they pack it in is their choice. They could easilly ziplock them stuffed with padding to save money. And if he buys about 50 bucks of raw plastic in different colors, he can remold the arms and legs and sell the same mold as replacement heads for Brainstorm, Highbrow, and Chromedome. Its a win win for Headrobots. I dont see how he could possibly be struggling with this mold.

Now that cobra mold is another story...

Why did they have to put that one out right after I got the first version. That one looks so much better. I'll figure something out.....

About the molds, we do own the molds but if a certain quantity is not reached it is impossible for our vendor to manufacture more. We are using p20 steel molds which are the highest grade steel out there, you can google injection molding price and see how much of an investment this is. The plastic is also abs, this is definitely not something casted out of resin at someones garage.

We don't talk about it a lot but we are the only 3rd party company donating money to charity, check our site for a list. We will be donating money to an autism charity next. None of us have to do this and we can all be making more money doing our normal jobs, it's just about doing design we like.

The new face is a direct response to fan comments and it was not preplanned.

This is a much better looking face but I can't see spending another $30. So I will just have to be happy with the first release (which I am ).

Yeah, same here.

Think i'll just pick up a junker G1 Hardhead, and give him the head from the 1st release.

I'm like the new head, but I'm more interested in the new face. It looks good, but it will look even better on the head of the 1st release. So just a quick question; will it be possible to swap the face on the new hothead to the 1st realease hothead? I really want a Headmasters Anime look to my G1 toy, as seen in this pic...

Now this head I really want! Too bad I've never once seen the toy in stores...

why not make one with the onslaught colors. do one for the hasbro color and one for the takara colors. i mean its not like he doesnt need the extra firepower anyways

true the takara head is amazing..just give me the guns in the appropriate colors and leave off the head. the dinky wrist blaster they gave onslaught sucks...

Man, Clench is like the only one I need from that boxed set. NEED.

I'm getting him. I'm also getting a universe Silverbolt. Since I can be flexible with the colors, I'll have a (sorta) poor man's Brainstorm. IMO the shape really works as Arcana.

After staring at the first one for a while, I seem to like this one better than the second, but I may end up getting the second one for the weapons. I do like the way they look....

I saw a photoshop of Silverbolt as Brainstorm before and it really worked. Really reminded me of the Headmasters cartoon face rather than the boring faceplate look.
