I'm pretty sure he's going to use Starscreams skull as some sorta coffee mug when all's said and done.

Eh, I still don't see the point of a transformer that doesn't transform.

Might just be the first Hot Toys figure I get! Starscream thing is so random though, is that from anything? Seems like an excuse to make more parts and thus jack the price.

Starscream in disguise is a nice touch. Hopefully they reveal that Optimus' head is really a mask for SS. If they were gonna go the non-transforming route, they shoulda done AOE Optimus.

Bio:
OPTIMUS PRIME, perhaps the greatest leader of the Autobots has grown weary of war. Desperate to end the eons long conflict with the Decepticons, Optimus adopts extreme measures. In battle, he dons the corpse of the notorious air commander, STARSCREAM.
Most of the Decepticon ranks flee in terror from the visage of Optimus. Those with more courage are unable to land a hit against Optimus as he is now the master of the skies and road. When these foolhardy decepticons are depleted of energon from trying to keep up, the last image they process is a blast from their former 2nd-in-command's Null Ray Cannons.

At first I thought this was an homage to that episode where Starscream wears an Optimus Prime suit. This seems alot less impressive than what Hot Toys usually offers. As far as Transformers go, alot of the details on this figure are inaccurate

...Are you making this up, or is that for real?
I think this is a sign. Time to move on. Maybe we can get some Beast Wars minifigs or something?

For the record fellas, the reasoning behind Optimus Prime coming with Starscream's parts is apparently to evoke this particular scene from the original Generation One cartoon, from the episode "Megatron's Master Plan":

Hopefully this is the case and not the Optimus from the alternate universe using the spare parts of his foes as trophies.

Oh Primus, too many jokes to be made:
"It rubs the oil on it's skin or else it gets the axe again."
"Would you Powerlinx me? I'd Powerlinx me. I'd Powerlinx me hard."
Prime dancing to "Goodbye Mach Kicks".

You think I didn't know that? I never said that it was Optimus Prime "cosplaying" as Starscream.

I GOT IT! This was made as a homage to when Prime wore Jetfire's body as armor in Revenge of The Fallen. In other words, ROFL was a homage to G1 and this figure is a homage to both G1 and the scene in ROTF, but for reasons unknown Starscream was used instead of Skyfire/Jetfire. In a way this makes sense. Can't wait for them to release an "Ironhide" version of Megatron. Maybe they'll have his fusion cannon mount somewhere on Ironhide's battle platform. (a nod to Ironhide's original toy)

It's like if someone saw the Optimus/Jetfire corpse combo in ROTF, mistook Jetfire for Starscream, and then made a G1 version.
Either that or someone decided that G1 Optimus should be just as psychotic and sick as his Movie and SG counterparts, and had him kill Starscream to wear as a trophy or something.

There's definitely a dead, decapitated Starscream head included in this. This is Optimus wearing the wings of Starscream's corpse, not Starscream dressed up as Optimus.Mindmaster wrote:For the record fellas, the reasoning behind Optimus Prime coming with Starscream's parts is apparently to evoke this particular scene from the original Generation One cartoon, from the episode "Megatron's Master Plan":
