New Images of Transformers Titans Return Blaster Prototype with Scale Comparisons

A little while ago, we had seen a image of a prototype for the upcoming Transformers Generations Titans Return Leader Blaster. New images of this prototype have arisen on TF fan Doubleclouder's photobucket. These new photos give us an idea of how Blaster scales with previously released figures. We also get a shot of his inner legs. Enjoy!

Not really. we've seen how big the speakers are in his tape deck mode. I already figured that the panels would have to fold around the legs like that.

If anyone is curious, I found some pics of Generations Powermaster Prime. It seems the titan master can still sit in the cab :)

Two things....Blaster is HUGE!!! I don't know where I'm going to put him in my Classics collection... Image

Second (too bad I can't separate the images easily):

That third image down is awesome! As much as I love CW Ultra Magnus, I was bummed that Minimus couldn't sit in the cab in truck mode. Because PW OP is a Headmaster (*ahem*, sorry Titan-Master!) the head won't be in the way for the figure to sit in the cab, it appears. Nice pointing that out, WJ88! ;)^

No problem, I quite liked that as well. I am curious to see how much inside the cab has been remolded and what the new details are (too bad it is still all simply sculpted though with no paint bringing out the detail).

And I feel your pain with how bg Blaster is but that cements a theory that I think is pretty much fact now: generations operates within several scales simultaneously.

We had the deluxes and voyagers for a while and some legends scaling with the rest as well. But when they released legends prime, megatron and the seekers, it was pretty clear that there was a sub scale with the legends class (which is different from the previous legion class which also has all those characters). Shockwave fits with those as well.

And now we have another scale within the Generations line with the leaders. Of course, Jetfire and Ultra Magnus scale perfectly with the voyagers and deluxes and some legends but the leader seekers sure dont.

So now we hve this leader class scale for some generations figures like the Seekers, Megatron and now Blaster who will scale with them and not the deluxes and voyagers (or combiners). That means Soundwave will be there too soon once he is remolded from Blaster.

So yeah if you are wondering where he fits, Blaster fits on a shelf battling Megatron and the Seekers.

Here are the 3 scales within generations now:

PM/Titan Wars Prime looks really nice, accepting the new era of hollowness as a given now, but why Hasbro, WHY NOT PAINT THE WHEELS? I want to see how Takara blings him up (or is it out? :-? ).

Anyway, all things considered, I like him much better than Voyager Combiner Wars Optimus, and at least this HeadMaster gimmick is closer to the G1-toy's lineage than a combining feature ever was, and he'll be more proportional, and have a real, integrated trailer. What's not to like about that?

WHOA! Someone pulled the hollow alarm? OHMIGOD what is it!? Insides of the legs? Backs of the legs? Something with the thighs?

Oh, top of the legs behind the knees.

If you think that's a scandal, I need to warn you, Blaster's chest is hollow too. :-D

As long as the hollowness is at least somewhat less obvious I don't really mind. Being that they're reasonably priced toys and not actual aliens doesn't leave a whole lot of room (no pun intended) for completely seamless engineering.

Even with blurry photos I'm really liking the look of pm prime. The initial renders weren't really doing much for me but this is making me want him. Also blaster still looks great and I'll be happy to pick him up.

Even though the size is a little off putting, I'm liking the look of big Blaster. I'm guessing it's a safe assumption that the titan master helmet will be cast in clear plastic on the final production figure?

Blaster looks a bit too big scale next to Magnus, Blaster's head looks bigger than Magnus' and just seems odd. I really want Blaster as a Voyager but I've said that enough now.

Haven't been into collecting Combiner Wars or the vast majority of Generations but that Powermaster Prime is getting bonus points with me everytime I see another new image of it. Might just be the childhood part of me still wanting a better proportioned, much more articulated version of what was a fave toy (that I still own) but yeah he's tempting.

Blaster is a total fail. Why cant they just make him voyager instead of the stupid "kiddie size" that scales with nothing ?

Not really sure what you expected given his alt mode.

Blaster scales just as well as his g1 toy did.

Because hasbro doesn't really care about scale? Or probably and more accurately, the people in charge of signing off on the designs don't care. Also this is a child's toy franchise still...so I think the target market probably don't care either.

Also in my opinion? I don't care a bit about scale at all. Besides, not like you don't have other options ;)

Something isn't enough like the original G1 figure/character so I'm going to complain about it.

Something is too much like the original G1 figure/character so I'm going to complain about it.

Blaster was always shown to be taller than the standard Autobots and was always eye to eye with the likes of Ultra Magnus, Megatron and Soundwave. If anything, Jetfire is the one that's out of scale as he should be much taller than even Ultra Magnus and Blaster as he towered over Optimus Prime who's roughly the same size as those others. Also, while we would all like seekers that scale with the standard Autobots, they used to tower over them just like Megatron, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Soundwave and Blaster used to. The standard Autobot is supposed to be smaller than the standard Decepticons and later Autobots and Autobots that were rebuilt to be larger like Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus. I understand not liking that as I too would like my figures to all scale with each other better in robot mode regardless of any preconceived notion of what things used to be. However, I'm just trying to point out the hypocrisy of some people with things like this. They want certain things to follow the G1 scale and designs to the letter but then when they do it with other things, some of those same people then complain about it.

So how the hell is Hasbro supposed to know what to do if people complain about things NEEDING to be exactly like G1 and then when they give it to us, people (oftentimes the SAME people but also many different people) complain about things NOT needing to be exactly like G1.

Yet all I care about is if the figure is "good" or not overall. Does it look "cool"? Does it have an acceptable amount of articulation? Does it transform well? Do I like the alt mode/modes? Are the gimmicks intrusive? Are there any glaring flaws with the design that can't be fixed and if so, do I even care? Is it a character that I need again even though I already have an acceptable one and if so, can I use one as a different character or do I even care if I own both versions at the same time? Sure, I would absolutely love it if all the robot modes scales "properly" with each other but really, what exactly IS the proper scale that they should adhere to? There isn't one as nobody will all agree on just one.

If you don't like Blaster being an ultra class figure then you have options. Use or keep using the FoC voyager version. There's also the Device Label version which is roughly voyager sized as well. Not to mention that there's the Universe redeco of Cybertron Soundwave that is also a voyager. Those might not be ideal to what you're looking for in your Blaster but if the ultra class isn't either then you're out of luck.

Yes I said ultra because that's what they are. I have ultra class figures that are larger than the current leaders and all of my older leader figures are like twice the overall size/bulk and weight of the current ones. They're just ultras with the electronics ripped out and the plastic thinned and stretched out to make slightly taller figures in robot mode but are overall the same size as ultras.

For the record though, despite the leader seekers meeting most of my criteria, I haven't exactly tried to get them as I don't like how tall they are. Well that is to say that I really don't like the price of them more than anything. If I could get them at a good low price then I'd buy them up real fast so long as there wasn't something else I wanted that was more important. They look really cool and I really like the Jetfire mold overall. Also, while I don't like how much taller they are than then a lot of others, I do actually like that too. So yes, I'm a hypocrite as well. I'm just not crying about it and have moved on.

It kinda reminds me of G1 Blaster, who was also WAYYYYYY too big.

Because Hasbro hates you personally and wants to make sure every single decision they make causes you as much personal discomfort as possible. I heard they were going to recall every single VHS tape, DVD or Blu-Ray disc of Transformers and digitally insert Alpha Bravo into every scene.
