We have our best look yet at the upcoming Transformers Legacy deluxe Skids. In the images below you will get a good look at his robot mode and alt mode from various angles. Including the back, which actually looks very clean even though it's not an angle many care about. We also get an idea of his size and there seems to be some real life mass shifting going on since while his bot mode is much smaller than the MP version, his alt mode is almost the same size. We thank fellow Seibertronian LinuNui for the heads up regarding the review from PrimevsPrime which these pictures come from.

Thanks for just linking to the pics and not the video btw. I will say no more on the matter.

As for the figure, it's nice, but does anyone else get the impression that it looks a bit...basic? It seems to veer a little into the Cyberverse aesthetic, especially in car mode, where it doesn't seem as painted as it should be?

I'll be getting that Skids for sure. He may also be the first one that I'll pay extra to buy some much needed gaps fillers and a Reprolabels set.

The mold looks OK, looks a bit better in hand. I'll probably get it in Burnout colors

Once again, a Legacy figure that looks short and squat. It's a line of Wolverine-proportioned bots.

He looks like an upscaled Scout class figure.

It's because it's Skids, guys. He was always the blandest-looking of the '84/'85 Autobot Cars.

Giant feet notwithstanding, Generations Skids is anything but bland:

And sorry, my mistake...it was the new Bumblebee Movie figures (the Cybertronian ones) that all look short and squat.

While I don't have any strong opinions about this Legacy Figure, I always felt OG Skids was criminally unused in terms of media exposure. Sure there is that infamous marvel comic where a woman who shares my wife's name ;) gives him a carwash but... 2 animated series appearances and that's it.

Also years later, Energon Tow-Line I think was the only standard Autobot in that line not to appear in the animated series...sad...and ironic

It is nice that Skids and his other color schemes are getting MP releases. I doubt that Hasbro will pass at the opportunity for several easy Selects releases from Legacy Skids as well.

It's because of his figure's late release in December 1984. He came out too late to be incorporated into Season 1, and wasn't part of the new lineup of Autobot Cars for season 2.

Marvel UK did give him more story appearances (though, they also dumped him in limbo for most of that comic's run, but did bring him back to explore his PTSD a bit).

Skids is nice and all. He's very nice and I want him.

But Legacy needs to be frozen and delayed in favor of restocking most of Earthrise. The eBay markup on so many of the characters is obscene, and a lot of us were screwed out of being able to buy much of ER while it was on shelves.

What of earthrise has been hard to find? I have seen all figures multiple times. Wave 2 deluxe was the rarest, but still found them. Plus they are available all over online.

I never saw ER wave 3 ( Voyager or Deluxe) at retail. However they were readily available online for those that wanted them, that is the only reason I have Fasttrack. Still I think if Hasbro wanted to repack toys to pad out Kingdom, they should have taken from ER wave 3 as opposed to Arcee and Wheeljack

In Japan, for me, several of the WFC figures have been hard to find, due to:

- Japanese releases being (what feels like) up to a year after the US releases (and thus..)
- ...When "regular/normal" characters are released via Takara Tomy Mall and not via Amazon Japan/other shops (as I've just waited for Amazon to stock a figure I assumed was just "being released later").
- Some exclusives not being released in Japan?

Luckily, Amazon Japan has never cancelled an order due to problems their end (only if the actual product was cancelled by the seller/manufacturer).

Which exclusives haven't been sold in Japan? I thought Takara Tomy mall had caught up, or have they fallen behind again? I'm guessing you mean more recent things like Origin Bumblebee and BB Worlds Collide set, or are there still some older figures that are missing?

Sorry, I read Kingdom not earthrise. I do actually agree that a earthrise refresh could be good. Only way that I got wave 3 deluxes was from Entertainment Earth in a whole case. I am really hoping the rerelease the conehead 2 pack soon since I missed that because I wasn't sure if I really wanted them originally.

If we include all TF lines, then we didn't get Ectotron or the X-Men crossover, nor Dracula (presently). I think they're might have been some regular figures too? It got a bit confusing as TT Mall was releasing some "regular" toys exclusively at their site, plus certain "Amazon exclusives" too, both of which I assumed would be at Amazon Japan. Coupled with the late release dates, it was possible to miss out on several toys and be none the wiser...

Legacy Dragstrip review:

As surmised by some, there appears to be no combiner port to speak of. So basically the advantage here over CW/UW is that this is a Transformer with just 2 modes, which allows it to look it's best in terms of engineering, and it does appear that it will truly only be held on to Menasor by 5 MM ports. Although I'm sure there will have to be a way to integrate a hand accessory (perhaps there will only be ONE possible configuration for this Menasor?)

So basically the individual four Stunticons I imagine will all look really great. Motormaster however is going to make or break this whole concept. I've always been a fan of animation accuracy, but in terms of consistency, I'm breaking my own rule of preference and sticking with my UW Menasor. I know that's not a popular opinion, and objectively the Legacy one will probably better, but it is, what it is.

Also, I think we can put to rest the theory of Hasbro/TT redoing ALL the combiners, as really no other combiner besides Menasor came together in this way. So while I personally don't want redux of any Combiners, except for those that haven't yet been done, I think Menasor is truly going to be a one off.

I think they might re do Bruticus, because of the new accuracy trend. But I very much doubt they'll re do any other combiners. Maaaaaaaaaaybe Devastator, as he was rumoured to have been considered for SS86? But he was dropped, so there's clearly something about redoing him that Hasbro didn't like.

There is that metal circle on the back of the robot mode. Maybe the combined form will use a magnet to hold the arm in place?

Nope, he splits in half and likely pegs onto the arm frame. Hopefully the other arm bot splits similarly and we can play Frankenstein

So that Menasor can have a working elbow joint Dragstrip (and the rest) would pretty much have to split in half to achieve that and cartoon accuracy. I, for one, am very excited to see how all this works out!

According to one of the TFW leakers the combination instructions are only with Motormaster anyway, so it being a stolen copy doesn't matter in this case

I was going to pass on this, but the figure itself doesn't look bad. It's far from perfect, but it did meet my low expectations. Considering that the Motormaster torso is the worst of Combiner Wars, I don't mind having another option for Menasor. Curious to see the rest of the team and the overall package.

they should redeco him as a g1 mirage - has the abdomen pin split already built in.

he looks good and will be interesting to see the rest of the team. Would not be surprised if the first batch featuring non g1 inspired designs (according to the rumours) will be superceded by exclusives and selects featuring more g1 accurate versions

Interesting. Knowing that Dragstrip splits in two and clips on for Menasor, helps to understand what Motormaster is going need to be capable of and why he's at the leader price point.

That rumour was false, all the stunticons are G1 toon accurate straight from release.

Not only that, but the new $100 2x Leader Commander price point. Not more $80 Commanders (unless you be patient and wait for Black Friday, which I will finally do this year.)

This was never confirmed was it? The logic behind the new price point and adding a second Commander was that they wouldn't be doing any more Titans, but we have UT Cybertron Metroplex coming this year so the rumor really loses credibility. Maybe next year, but I think Motormaster will still be $80.

the $100 each 2x commander price was only being considered as part of a budgeting plan that included discontinuing the titan class, with the second commander taking its spot in the lineup. As long as we still have titans, we still only have one commander at the $80+inflation pricepoint.

On a separate note, chefatron has posted a video review of kickback, and it includes shots of selects? bw sandstorm with a new mutant mask head.

I really wanted Sandstorm to have the normal non-mutant head since the robot head was his true head. He never used the mutant head in any of his appearances.

They could have saved the mutant head for a toy-accurate Scorponok redeco instead.

Kickback looks to be Reflector/Refraktor-sized, which is EXACTLY what I have wanted for the Insecticons since Siege. I am VERY excited, Bombshell next please.

Drag Strip I still have no strong feelings about. Bot and alt modes look good, but I have mixed feelings about the head sculpt, I don't feel strongly enough about the character to want to replace my CW one, and there's zero chance I'm getting Menasor if he's the Sunbow design. If he goes on sale, I might pick him up.

Also very excited to see Sandstorm though, I was hoping for the other head but this will still do nicely.

It's kind of neat that since Kickback was the last Insecticon to get a Legends scale figure during Prime Wars, he was the First to get a deluxe size in the new series. I just hope that somehow, despite the controversy with Takatoku (now Bandai) designs, they can make new Deluxe Insecticons true enough to the original, but unique enough not to have any legal issues.

I don't think there are any legal issues per se, toy designs aren't copyrighted the way that media is, and any patents for the original toys would have expired long ago. If anything, Hasbro probably doesn't make toys for those characters because they rarely appeared in any media, with RiD's Chop Shop perhaps the biggest exception.

Wowie I really like Dragstrip, his guns are so neat too. This is exciting stuff, having each combiner team have its own ecosystem for attachment and what not is an excellent idea and gets me excited for future teams since it means each one can combine in the most effective way for its own design ;)^

We have our best look yet at the upcoming Transformers Legacy deluxe Kickback. In the images below you will get a good look at his robot mode and alt mode from various angles along with comparisons to other Deceptions and the Titans Return version. There has been hyperbole used to say that Hasbro's smaller figures make the deluxe class look like a legends/scout class and these pictures show that there is no truth to that with Kickback well deserving the deluxe name, at least when it comes to size. We get a good look at the 3 accessories and how they can be used in different ways. The comparison between the previous legends version shows that Hasbro went with a more traditional Kickback transformation with the head being the same for both modes. We thank fellow Seibertronian Alakese for the heads up regarding the review from Chefatron which these pictures come from.

Nah, pretty sure the mold ownership is still an issue, otherwise there wouldn't be such a hubbub every time a Jetfire or Gobot-based character is released. I think Chop Shop might be the outlier in the whole Deluxe Insecticon group.

Then again, the main problem is with reissuing the old molds, so new toys aren't out of the question if they're different enough, I guess.
