In Hand Images of Transformers Generations Cyber Battalion Sideswipe

?????88 on Weibo has uploaded new images for the Cyber Battalion subline of Generations. We previously had images of Shockwave along with artwork for Sideswipe and now we finally have our first look at the Sideswipe toy in hand.

Looking at it compared to Prowl, we see that the sculpts are very different and they mainly share the abdominal/pelvic area. The transformation is identical though. And while the head is a very faithful G1 Sideswipe head, the way the chest protrudes is more in tune with G1 Override.

For those not in the know, these are very basic toys upscaled to the voyager class. Just to help fans understand what these toys are all about, these are very simple toys, with minimal articulation and a lot of hollow parts (same amount of plastic as a deluxe would have but stretched out to make a voyager). They are very brickish, similar to G1 toys but only in regards to articulation joints. If you like simpler toys and have young kids, then this might be up your alley.

But if you are expecting anything close to a deluxe class toy (in voyager scale), then this probably wont satisfy you. We have added a video review below of the previous toy to use this transformation, Prowl, for you to get a best sense as to what these toys are all about. Especially since there is a chance that Shockwave and Sideswipe will not come out in the US, and thus may be more costly to import.

Pretty sure the only car parts that are different are the roof (feet), bottom of the doors (arms), and front of the car (chest) as well. No complaint here, it's probably the best mold in the line. It really just needs bicep and hip swivels to be a proper looking Voyager, but for the price I can accept that they're missing. I'm going to keep Prowl with UW Devastator once I get around to setting up a proper display (my goal for April) since they look good together. If Sideswipe happens to show up here I might buy one, though his size doesn't really fit with anything else.

Now that i live next to a Walgreens, I'm hoping that that Sideswipe will make his way to my area. I would kind of like to pick him up.

Good news for those hoping the new Shockwave and Sideswipe toys find their way to the US. They are now being found at Wallgreens, at two per case. They were found in California, near San Francisco by SurgeOpressor, who reported this on the TFW2005 boards. He also showed the UPC codes and took images of Shockwave in his robot mode to give a sense of scale.

SurgeOpressor wrote:I'm about 45min outside San Francisco, CA.
Shockwave UPC 63050964914
Sideswipe UPC 63050964913
They only had one pair and rang up at $17.99 each.

We see comparisons to both voyager Megatron from Titans Return and Classics' deluxe Starscream. We also see a very telling shot of the back which shows very hollow limbs and confirms the lack of knees and poseability.

Of course, this is because these are voyager sized toys priced as deluxes aimed at kids who want bigger toys that aren't too complicated.

So now, knowing these won't need to be imported, will any of you be going to your Walgreens? Also, as you can tell, we still do not have many images of these toys so if any of you find your hands on these toys, please post several images on thes boards, including images of the alt mode and images that showcase the kind of poses you can do.

The aesthetics of that shockwave makes for a nice sit in for the generations collection until we get something more proper, if we get something more proper

Im feeling it. And the inevitable shapways knee joints are a given. Maybe leg and arm fillers too. Now all we need is a voyager soundwave and blaster with cassettes that dont suck.

He looks pretty decent. I'm still hoping we'll get a proper full articulation one in the soon to come Cybertron War line in 2019.

That is a nice-looking Shockwave. Too bad it'll never show up at my local Walgreens since the Primes and Bumblebees there are gonna be on that shelf 'til the end of time.

Images of this new Shockwave's alt mode properly transformed had yet to appear online. Now that they have been found in the US, a Walgreens, fans have finally taken some photos of his alt mode along with the kinds of poses he and his case mate Sideswipe can do.

As the small instruction images showed us before, Shockwave does indeed has a fake robot head for his alt mode. It is unpainted. This is similar to the Fall of Cybertron Shockwave who also had a fake head in cybertrotian spaceship mode (though less protruding than this). As you can tell, the transformation is very simple, though more involved than some previous toys, especially for the head switch. We see a shot of Sideswipe's back and images of the two posing against one another. The photographer, SurgeOpressor (from the TFW2005 boards) does a really good job using the limited articulation to its fullest, making good use of the swivel at the "knee" along with Sideswipe's transformation joint at the knee to make a dynamic pose.

As said earlier, these toys are available at Walgreens in the US, for $17.99, and here are the UPC codes to help you find them:
Shockwave UPC 63050964914
Sideswipe UPC 63050964913

I don't care about the lack of knees, that shockwave figure is the best we've gotten in a long time and I want it

Oh, so the second head isn't painted on the actual figure. That's good, like this it closer resembles the flip up sight on the original figure. Just more to like.

I'm with you on that one. A bummer that the Cyber Battalion line never came out in Canada. I want that Shockwave, but I'm not paying the full price of a leader class figure to get it.

I wonder how well that Shockwave could pull off a gun mode if you flipped his wings down to make a grip... :-?

Not really possible I'm afraid, the wings that actually fold are quite short and they fold at the edge of the back, meaning they are further apart than you would think.

Anyone else think that Sideswipe body looks very similar to RTS Scout Windcharger?
