In Hand Images of Transformers Legacy Dragstrip

We have our best look yet at the upcoming Transformers Legacy deluxe Drag Strip. In the images below you will get a good look at his robot mode and alt mode from various angles. Including the back, which actually looks too clean for a combiner. The final picture shows that the alt mode splits in half, showing that this will simply be parts to stick onto the menasor arms to give it the G1 animated look. We thank fellow Seibertronian O.Supreme for the heads up regarding the review from PrimevsPrime which these pictures come from.

they should redeco him as a g1 mirage - has the abdomen pin split already built in.

he looks good and will be interesting to see the rest of the team. Would not be surprised if the first batch featuring non g1 inspired designs (according to the rumours) will be superceded by exclusives and selects featuring more g1 accurate versions

Interesting. Knowing that Dragstrip splits in two and clips on for Menasor, helps to understand what Motormaster is going need to be capable of and why he's at the leader price point.

That rumour was false, all the stunticons are G1 toon accurate straight from release.

You mean Commander Class price point ;)

Not only that, but the new $100 2x Leader Commander price point. Not more $80 Commanders (unless you be patient and wait for Black Friday, which I will finally do this year.)

This was never confirmed was it? The logic behind the new price point and adding a second Commander was that they wouldn't be doing any more Titans, but we have UT Cybertron Metroplex coming this year so the rumor really loses credibility. Maybe next year, but I think Motormaster will still be $80.

the $100 each 2x commander price was only being considered as part of a budgeting plan that included discontinuing the titan class, with the second commander taking its spot in the lineup. As long as we still have titans, we still only have one commander at the $80+inflation pricepoint.

On a separate note, chefatron has posted a video review of kickback, and it includes shots of selects? bw sandstorm with a new mutant mask head.

I really wanted Sandstorm to have the normal non-mutant head since the robot head was his true head. He never used the mutant head in any of his appearances.

They could have saved the mutant head for a toy-accurate Scorponok redeco instead.

Oh no, I can already imagine a mix-up causing the toy colors Scorponok to have the normal headsculpt and Sandstorm to have the mutant one.

Kickback looks to be Reflector/Refraktor-sized, which is EXACTLY what I have wanted for the Insecticons since Siege. I am VERY excited, Bombshell next please.

Drag Strip I still have no strong feelings about. Bot and alt modes look good, but I have mixed feelings about the head sculpt, I don't feel strongly enough about the character to want to replace my CW one, and there's zero chance I'm getting Menasor if he's the Sunbow design. If he goes on sale, I might pick him up.

Also very excited to see Sandstorm though, I was hoping for the other head but this will still do nicely.

It's kind of neat that since Kickback was the last Insecticon to get a Legends scale figure during Prime Wars, he was the First to get a deluxe size in the new series. I just hope that somehow, despite the controversy with Takatoku (now Bandai) designs, they can make new Deluxe Insecticons true enough to the original, but unique enough not to have any legal issues.

I don't think there are any legal issues per se, toy designs aren't copyrighted the way that media is, and any patents for the original toys would have expired long ago. If anything, Hasbro probably doesn't make toys for those characters because they rarely appeared in any media, with RiD's Chop Shop perhaps the biggest exception.

Wowie I really like Dragstrip, his guns are so neat too. This is exciting stuff, having each combiner team have its own ecosystem for attachment and what not is an excellent idea and gets me excited for future teams since it means each one can combine in the most effective way for its own design ;)^

Isn't Menasor the only one with a radically different cartoon model for the combiner mode?

We have our best look yet at the upcoming Transformers Legacy deluxe Kickback. In the images below you will get a good look at his robot mode and alt mode from various angles along with comparisons to other Deceptions and the Titans Return version. There has been hyperbole used to say that Hasbro's smaller figures make the deluxe class look like a legends/scout class and these pictures show that there is no truth to that with Kickback well deserving the deluxe name, at least when it comes to size. We get a good look at the 3 accessories and how they can be used in different ways. The comparison between the previous legends version shows that Hasbro went with a more traditional Kickback transformation with the head being the same for both modes. We thank fellow Seibertronian Alakese for the heads up regarding the review from Chefatron which these pictures come from.

Nah, pretty sure the mold ownership is still an issue, otherwise there wouldn't be such a hubbub every time a Jetfire or Gobot-based character is released. I think Chop Shop might be the outlier in the whole Deluxe Insecticon group.

Then again, the main problem is with reissuing the old molds, so new toys aren't out of the question if they're different enough, I guess.

Yeah, the legal issues begin and end at releasing the original toys. That's already been decided in court, Hasbro can do whatever they want aside from reissuing the OG toys.

I’m having a hard time deciding wether I should cancel Dragstrip or not after the recent pictures. Not entirely sure I like the concept of a Menasor endo-skeleton where you just attach Stunticons to existing limbs.

I did however bite the bullet and pre-ordered Kickback though.
