In-Hand Images of Transformers: The Last Knight Leader Megatron, Sighted at UK Retail

Posted by Va'al May 29, 2017 at 12:45pm CDT 31,748 views
In a new turn for the books, we have UK first sighting of a main line Transformers figures, from the The Last Knight toyline - and it's none other than Leader class Megatron himself! Courtesy of TFW2005 user timelord10, the figure is reported to have been seen in Staffordshire's Toymaster, for £54.99 ($70 USD). Check it out below, along with some size comparisons and in-hand images!

Remember to use the Sightings Database to help out fellow collectors, and happy hunting - wherever you are in the world.

My local Toymaster in Staffordshire had him on the shelves at the weekend, along with wave-mate Leader Prime. In past experience this store gets stuff in 2-3 weeks ahead of other chain retailers (I bought Titans Return Galvatron last summer and didn't see him in Toys'R'Us for another month).

So I watched Baltmatrix's review of steelbane, and damn, it's terrible. A shame too, as it was one of the only deluxes that I was actually looking forward too. They made zero effort to hide any of the robot kibble, and it's a flimsy, poorly painted, loose jointed mess.

You'd think, since these movies make billions of dollars, they would try and make a decent toyline to go along with it, but no. We have an extremely small, low quality line that fails on simple things such as QC. (before some triggered fangirl attacks me for saying the line isn't good, I actually do like some portions, namely squeaks and the new voyagers, but that's undermined by the poor quality of the rest of the line for me)

Spiffy, but also looks a bit weirder than the Toy Fair images when it was shown off there. Still... I'll reserve judgement for when I get it in hand. Wondering when the ETA on the Voyager Megatron and Hound though with this news in mind. I know the Press Release said to expect the leaders in Fall while the Voyagers in the summer. I know last time with AoE I found Galvatron in July/August versus the expected June at TRU here in Ohio.

And if you think the quality is bad on TFs you should really look at the lackluster offerings made by Hasbro for the Jurassic World series, they totally stink and look dollar store cheap. The stuff they put into their own properties is by far better than the stuff that isn't in their specific creative property.

That Megatron does look gorgeous. I'm still gonna wait for the Voyager which I hope should be appearing soon. Bloody loving this line. Still tinkering with Sqweeks and Barricade on my desk here and still keenly waiting for reprolabels for Voyager Prime's flames.

This looks really good.

I've been a bit wary of the toys after pretty much the entire AOE and some of the DOTM lines, but this looks really good. It actually makes me like the design of Megatron in the film, too. Maybe it's the Fusion Cannon on his arm and the sick sword, but I dunno.

Umm... the article sounds like that Megatron is the first last knight toy found in the UK. It's the first leader class, I believe, but deluxe and voyager have been out a while. Just nitpicking. lol.

I used some clubpoints and picked up Prime for 'normal' voyager price. He's a really nice figure, well worth having. Knees don't have a lot of bend in them but overall, he's a good solid figure with a satisfying transformation.

Tried to do a headswap with an Evasion Prime to give him his mouth face, but the balljoints are different sizes.

Huh, I see that, but also don't. :-?

I guess teaching English all day to Italians in 34C can kinda slow my own syntax... #-o

I wouldn't base my opinion entirely on Balt's review. He tends to focus on the negatives of a figure.

I see it like this:

Baltmatrix - wines about everything wrong.
Emgo - fangirls about everything right.
Peaugh - unbiased, but mumbles and runs off topic. (Best if you are just watching one)
Thew - fun entertainment, three waves late (personal favorite)
Optibotimus - in love with his own voice, will do a sixteen minute review on a repainted legion figure and then mistransform it.

Vangelus - probably the best one, but will be at least 6 months later unless it's Top Spin.

Addition to Peaugh: Has issues keeping things in view of the camera.

I do subscribe to him on Youtube but the only one i actively follow is Thew, because he's very entertaining.

His robot mode looks great and loose joints can easily be tightened and poor paint can be added to with some model paint. I'll buy him in a sale with those points in mind.

He doesn't have bad paint, the reviews I've seen showed an impressive amount of good paint.

Breacher's words, not mine. :P And paint stuff doesn't bother me as much if the mold itself is still really good as I can have some fun painting it myself. :)

I stopped watching Baltmatrix once he just started to not give a crap, and gets many many things wrong about figures and generally has no idea about a figure he's reviewing.

Peaugh is okay, he's neutral but will miss some key points about some figures, and will just ham fist many of them and yes will do things out of the view of the camera.

I really do like Emgo even if he does fangirl about the positives. He'll still point out the issues he has with the figures, he just won't rant or get all bent out of shape about them. And generally is pretty timely with the reviews. He also has a sense of humor I can relate to.

Vange1us is indeed the best, but he takes ages to get to any figures. Though his reviews are really good, and in-depth.

Optibotimus, can get on my nerves real easily. I try to avoid him, unless I have no other choice. But many times he just won't care about the figure he's reviewing and that can get annoying.

I guess I'll have to give Thew a shot

I generally go for a combination of Peaugh, Emgo and Vangelus when possible.

Yep I tend to go with peaugh and thew, and vangelus if he puts any videos out.

Emgo was fun the first few times but he reuses the same jokes in every review. It gets annoying after a while.

Emgo I find cringeworthy to be honest. I just can't watch him.

Optibotimus much the same, I just...I dunno, man. He takes way too long to review simple figures and doesn't even do that good a job on them.

Peaugh is OK but very dull on occasion. Not terrible though.

Baltmatrix overuses the word "weird" and hamhands figures whilst blaming it on the toy. On the plus side he does review old obscure stuff and he is honest.

BensCollectibles is overly positive even with total crap. I have heard he's going through a real rough spot though so I find it hard to hate on him.

Vangelus I have no issues with. Well edited, short, to the point and entertaining.

Thew is the god of reviews. Most reviewers I'll only watch the ones I'm interested in. Thew though I'll watch them all. He's just so damn funny.

Bobby Skullface takes his time but he's very in-depth, quite professional and brutally honest. My one gripe with him is his obsession with everything being slathered in paint- and I say that as a paintoholic myself.

Anyway, Steelbane. The robot mode looks beastly. The dragon/wyvern mode is...well it's OK, hard to tell because Baltmatrix did a terrible job transforming him. The paint, I can see what they were attempting but it looks kinda awful. The QC is inexcusable. Like, yes you can fix it with floor polish but for £24 you shouldn't have to.

So yeah. Good engineering, rubbish paint, absolutely garbage QC. I'll pick him up if I have money to burn or he goes on clearance. At the very least I might be able to salvage him with the Airbrush of Power.
