Our fellow Transformers fans over at the AllSpark have been busy translating more of the manga included in the Generations 2013 book, as we previously reported. Thanks to Seibertron user sabrblade, we have now been made aware of Metrowars 2 being translated too! You can read the full set here. In addition, Guido Guidi posted some notes for Starscream's New Power, also included in the book.

I'm hoping this hints at a Metrotitan repaint... plus a retool in orange of his little car buddy. :-?

What's curious is that the cameos mostly stem from a semi-unplaced piece of Transformers continuity: Robot Masters. Most blatantly so with Delta Seeker loosing an arm to X-Gunner, like his Robot Masters bio said. Well, makes it a bit easier to place the new characters from that line

If anyone's wondering, what Straxus is doing to Metrotitan is he's infusing him with Megatron's evil nature, since Megatron lost it in the last story.

LMAO @ the last panel:
"Nice one Metroplex!
You WIPED him good!"
What, did Metroplex go potty and need his butt wiped? Surely it was supposed to be translated as "whipped?" Crazy Engrish :???:

Metroflex? Is that a typo, or is that what Takara have named the grappling arm on Metroplex? :P

"Wiped" as in "wiped out" is a phrase that can be used in that context.

Ohshima chose to use the original pre-2007 Japanese G1 names for these comics, so Metroplex is "Metroflex" and Optimus is "Super Convoy" (being in his Nucleon Quest body, that is).

And, to be honest, there isn't all that much a difference between "Metroflex" and "Metroplex" when spelled in Japanese:

Metroflex: メトロフレックス
Metroplex: メトロプレックス

The difference lies in the フ (fu) vs. プ (pu).

Yeah, in my (small) understanding of Japanese, there are a few letters you can "upgrade" to a slightly different sound by adding a tiny circle or double hatch to the character. Ka to Ga is another one... Ta to Da... Ha to Ba or Pa. (Correct me if I'm referencing these incorrectly.)

It's all really interesting how the language is constructed, and how the letters are almost always pairs of English letters — a consonant and vowel. (except for N. N is a loner. Ha.)

Understanding it a little bit helps wrap your head around how odd translations come about.
