Hopefully Steeljaw signals a rerelease or remake of Lockdown.
Springer shuts down the rumors of the Siege figure being repainted. That figure was basically perfect as a Voyager, not sure how they'll justify making a Leader.

Yeah I got Siege Springer for my movie shelf, because even though I would love a clean version, the figure itself is good enough for me. If this will be an all new mold fitting the leader class price, I expect the transformation to be even better. The thing is, considering how they butchered Blitzwing's jet mode, there's no excuse to screw up any of the modes given that the Siege figure is near flawless design-wise.

I really HATED the voyager Springer. Both modes were barely different from each others and the transformation was NOT fun.
But to be fair, that was pretty much what the original G1 toy was.
So what the leader price-point will add to the table?

Leader Springer? What's he gonna do differently except take a bath? Or maybe this is a repack and this is price creep BS. Remember deluxe Cybertron Unicron being sold as a voyager years ago? That crap can happen. Or maybe they'll pack in a figure like Daniel and do a few tweaks like with Netflix Soundwave and say "Leader price point met!"

Not one I thought they'd tackle so soon in the SS line - the siege version was the best of the triple changers with its fiddly transformation being the really true negative + the paint scheme for some. Think he looks good and scales pretty well.
Blitzwing and astrotrain could both benefit from he extra attention - I mean all they had to do with blitzwing is not include the rubbish hand things, and have the turret and extra kibble detach and they could've pretended it's a drone in jet mode. Astrotrain was good - but perhaps he feels a bit in need of a scale boost and also, I'd rather they had not included the tinder, and found a way to cover up the arms in shuttle mode.
Maybe that feeling of "too soon" as well... I mean for all know, it could be rerelease with the rocket launcher included from the city fight and call it a leader the same way they did coronation star scream.

I've had Siege Springer for a long time at this point and I'm pretty happy with him, battle damage decals and all, so this Leader Springer would have to be absolutely fantastic for me to consider buying one. It's nice to hear Bayverse is still hanging in there for Studio Series, even if it is just in the Core Class. I'm not a big fan of Bayverse's Lockdown so I'm not waiting with bated breath for a re-issue or anything, but the Steeljaws did have a cool design so I could always get a couple for my Multiverse Decepticon shelf.

Not a fan of the concept. I can't imagine what kind of accessories a cleaned up Voyager Siege Springer could come with to warrant Leader Pricing? If they do make an all new toy it seems wasteful. Besides, Siege Astrotrain and Legacy Blitzwing are still just Voyager toys with extra "stuff" added on. Would seem like a waste to do a whole new Voyager Springer ( with new accessories) to make it a "Leader", when the one they did just a few years back is fine. Just needs the battle damage removed.

Leader Class Springer?
I'm trying to envision how big Springer was? When in scale with everyone else in The Movie.
This from Five Faces of Darkness is all probably the biggest he was ever portrayed.

For me this^ The current Springer is just fine as is and I have no reason to replace it with a leader class version. So IMO I don't know why they're even wasting new tooling on it when we actually need a better Astrotrain first. That I would buy same as I did for Blitzwing.
It's definitely nice to see Steeljaw is happening sooner rather than later, and hopefully means others of the like are also soon to be. I am curious how they can improve on the previous versions being how well they handled the new Rumble.

AOE Steeljaw is awesome, I’m glad I found Lockdown recently!
Honestly bummed that Springer (yet another G1 remake that got a figure not too long ago) is taking up a leader slot for next year. That hope of seeing more AOE Dinobots soon after Grimlock got reissued was very short lived.
We don’t have all the deluxe and voyager listings for 2024 yet, but so far the only Bayverse representation in Studio Series mainline for 2 entire years will be 3 core class figures, one of which is a repaint.

Seriously, having Springer take up that slot sucks. It should have gone to literally any baybot, even Demolishor would have been better...

Given their proclivities so far, there's an equal chance they'll just do a clean version of Siege Springer, and throw in a couple of horrible 'energon' accessories, like they did with Blitzwing's silly boxing gloves. That's what Hasbro, in their cheapness and laziness, has been doing to justify the leader price point on voyager figures. And probably why we haven't seen a G1 style "leader" Megatron figure yet. They can't figure out what kind of useless junk to throw in the box with yet another Voyager Siege Megatron, to rationalize a higher price. Unless they re-issue the "Spoiler" box which had Skelivore in it.

william-james88 wrote:With Blitzwing and Astrotrain, we saw that from ehre on out, the triple changers would be released as leader class figures. And that's exactly the case with Springer. JTPrime has shared a listing for a leader class Springer in the Studio Series 86 line. This means taht those wanting a clean deco of the previous voyager Springer may not get that after all and instead get a new mold.

Maybe we'll get a proper blaster and sword for springer as well as the wrist-mounted blaster we saw in the 86 film.

Agreed with everything here. another leader slot taken by a G1 guy, especially one with a new mold only 4 years old that got 2 different releases, just feels super disappointing.
When will we get our Dinobots and Que????? Among others?????

The dinobots are the most glaring omission, but there's also Demolishor, Dragonstorm and Infernocus. I like the G1 aesthetic, but I hate how it's slowly becoming the ONLY aesthetic. Look at what they did to Prime and Animated characters. I'm still waiting for a core class Frenzy or Dispensor. Deluxe or core Protoforms too! But it seems Hasbro is obsessed with unifying the aesthetic of the brand or some other such pointless sillyness. Iron Man proved stuff like that's bullshit a long time ago.

I finally finished work on my custom DOTM Optimus Prime rework, including the trailer and upgrade kit! I've been working on this project for actual years now, it feels great to have it completely done!
This was one of my favorite figures of all time even before the paint and upgrade kit, so glad Studio Series made this one!

Well done!
My DOTM Optimus was customised as well, but only with the basic 3D printed upgrade kit and the Reprolabels.
