Lego Officially Announces an Optimus Prime Lego Set

This looks great! As a huge Lego fan I love this!

FYI multiple Lego reviewers broke the embargo date and took down their reviews. My preferred Lego site said their review will go up later this week. If Lego opens up preorders, they will probably go up at the same time.

I'm sure this set will need multiple production runs but it should remain available periodically and with occasional backorders for the next couple years. This set will also probably be available at other retailers including Amazon and Target. Point being: if you want it immediately, watch Lego's and fansites' social media for the formal launch. If time isn't critical, you can be confident it'll be available at list price sooner than later and that it will sell out only temporarily.

It would be great to stand this one next to my old Kre-O POS one...

It’s big, it transforms with what appears to be no partsforming, I get to build it from scratch… I could really just sit here and go on with the positives.

Hopefully this does well enough for future sets, I’d love a brick Megatron.

I never thought in a million years they could pull off a transforming Optimus Prime in LEGO! Super impressive!

FINALLY! Someone actually made an Optimus Prime that transforms like the CGI Optimus seen in the main menu of the Rhino DVD releases of G1 Season 2!

And, wow, it's as big as a Supreme class toy. Like, Armada Unicron-sized!

Lego announced the Transformers Optimus Prime Lego Set 10302 today and many reviews were ready to go. Below we have more images of the set showing the new pieces made for it (most are simply in colours we did not get before). There is no US listing yet but the word on the street says this toy will be available in Lego Stores June 1st for $170 USD. With there being 1508 pieces, this price comes out to the standard 10 cents per piece + licensing premium, the same we see with Star Wars sets. While many Lego fans have expressed anticipation for the novelty of this set both in terms of it being the first Transformers Lego set and this being transformable, Transformers fans are mixed on the toy due to lack of knee articulation and headsculpt. You will let us know what you thinK!

Pretty sure this is a one-and-done deal. Though I certainly wouldn't mind future collaborations between the two companies, even outside Transformers! I love when companies stop competing against each other and actually cooperate to give us something awesome.

Yes, the socket brick is debuting with the tallneck lego set, and the mouth plate part may be entirely new - I don't keep up with new parts and parts in new colors very strictly though
