Mark Wahlberg Confirms His Return To Transformers

Posted by Autobot032 Dec 18, 2014 at 3:02pm CST 84,036 views
Mark Wahlberg is currently doing press junkets for his upcoming film, The Gambler, and he just recently sat down with MTV News to talk about that film (opening Christmas Day) and this year's biggest box office draw, Transformers Age Of Extinction.

You can read the full interview and story over at ComicBookMovie.com, but here's the most important snippet:

While promoting his upcoming release The Gambler, Wahlberg spoke with MTV about the future of the Transformers franchise and seemingly confirmed his involvement in the upcoming sequel as well as possibly another sequel or two: "Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more... you know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon."

There you have it, directly from the man himself, a man who doesn't do sequels will now be in next film of one of the largest moneymaking franchises ever. Transformers 5 (still untitled as of now) is expected to see release sometime in 2016, and as soon as we have more info, we'll share it with you.

Transformers is like Crack Cocaine. (Not that I have ever done drugs! Don't do drugs kids!)
Once you start you can't stop... Look at the last set of actors... They did 3... I seriously doubt they would just drop the actors and bring in new ones for the last two movies.

#1 It would mean re-starting characters and storylines for humans.

#2 Talking about spotty! (Even with the spotty story lines we get with these movies...)

Bay will return seriously... I doubt he has gone to TF rehab yet.

Bay will come back because Paramount will drive to his house with a dump truck full of money.

I actually liked the actors in the 4th live action movie, but I wish Bay would learn what the word continuity means.

Also, Transformers should never, ever, have a 3rd alt mode of flying pink oxo cubes.

I'll take Wahlberg over LaBeouf, thank you.

For all the faults of AOE, aside from a few very minor bits, Wahlberg wasn't one of them.

Bay should be on twitter by the end of the day to debunk this "rumor."

Rodimus2006 wrote:I have been following the news on TF 5, which is scheduled to hit sometime in 2016. Could be Later if they have Casting & problems finding a new Director to replace Bay.

I understand Bay not coming back & I think he has done more than enough I think Bay wants to move on & do new things. or Work on his other Films maybe finally Bad Boys 3.

Walhberg I think only signed on to do the 1 film so I didn't expect him back in movies 5 or 6.

Optimus Prime may not even be in movie 5 considering Prime went off into Space to find his Creators which I think are the Quints just done in a new Way.

Meaning Movie 5 may not even be in the same time line or Continuation & could also even be another possible Reboot.

I am hoping Paramount Continues from where AOE leaves off from.
learning more about the Creators & hopefully & finally a 1st Time Appearance or set up for Unicron being the Creators Trump Card.

The Creators are Pissed so they send out Unicron to Destroy Planet Earth. Unicron would also be a new Deal & done in a Brand new Way to fit in Live Action Universe.

I hope some body like Roland Emmerich or Bret Ratner takes over for Bay.

While maybe Ultra Magnus, Rodimus could take over for Optimus.

I also hear the Transformers in Movie 5 could also see a New Look, this makes sense to me considering this will be a new Director.

Hopefully it wont look to Cartoony. as I like the Movie Bot Transformers & I think they should remain As Is.

So movie 5 could be in a Brand New Direction cant wait to learn more but 2016 is a long time away.

Hopefully GI Joe 3 & Star Trek 3 comes out 1st.

I hope they dont do unicron, please dont........look at how badly bay destoried the dinos.......no way. leave that up to good director and a new story line, bays movies make zero sense ........U want bret Ratner to take over for bay? dude hes even worse! have u seen his movies?! esp X-men 3!!

My biggest request for Bay and company ... please please please stop having Optimus and the Autobots say things like "we will kill you" or things of that nature. The Autobots should all be likable characters and shouldn't want to kill things. Yah, it's war. We get it. Killing and death is part of war. The good guys should have remorse for when there are casualties in war. They should always protect and cherish other life! So far, I can't really tell why anyone would really like the Autobots in Michael Bay's films. Bumblebee was alright up until AOE. Thanks to his portrayal in AOE, I really am not a fan of him either any more. There is little compassion from the Autobots in Bay's films and therefore I have little compassion for them unfortunately.

I wholehearted agree with you, but I just have no faith in this happening at this point. It's become clear that the filmmakers want to portray the Autobots as Rambo-style "heroes" rather the classic Saturday morning Superman type of heroes, whether we like it or not. Not helping the matter further is how the filmmakers also seem to want to portray the majority of the bad guys (be they Decepticons, KSI robots, etc.) as savage killing machines instead of actual characters with any real depth beyond "Smash! Kill! Destroy!", thus leaving our "heroes" have no choice but to kill them. And the filmmakers also seem to think that vicious methods of the kills are what people deem as "cool" and "mature". These films have thrived on appealing to the lowest common denominator, giving us violent Autobots fighting shallow, one-dimensional villains, and as sad as it is, they'll more than likely not want to break what they deem as not broken (since it keeps bringing in the big bucks). :-(

The greatest part of your analogy here is that when you take a look at Shia LeBoufs life and career shortly after Dark of the Moon, it totally fits with some strung out, washed up, Hollywoood crack addict.

I always figured that Whalburg would be back and to be honest, I've gotten used to Bay doing these films. Switching gears at this point would just mess up the whole flow of these things. I mean lets be real here folks, these are kids films and most of you are adult fans. Do you really have a leg to stand on when it comes to criticizing these films? No, you really don't. You are never going to get the films that you want out of the Transformer franchise. Never. Deal with it and enjoy them for what they are because different actors and different directors are not going to ever get you what you really want and everybody knows it or at least they should by now.

theres not much really kid friendly about the movies though. transformers prime is a perfect example of how a kid friendly movie should be like that adults can also enjoy. there was good mix of action, tension, and humor that anyone could watch but thats just my opinion

Uh yea my kids have really only seen the first one and are still a good ways off before I let them see the others...

I pretty much totally agree Transformers Prime was a great balance for kids and adults. Action sequences especially towards the end of the series were some of the best I have seen. While at the same time my kids loved it.

Shia on the flip side seems to be turning his life around after his last movie... Apparently he has found Jesus. >:oP

No surprise really, Wahlberg may not do sequels (despite him wanting to do the sequel to his remake of the Italian job) but a bigger pay cheque can do wonders. Would like a new writer, one that can cater to bays love for action but offer the audience that audiences can love without dividing them.

This is such a horrible idea, they need to scrap everything and start over completely!

The problem is that AOE made so much money that nothing will change. Odds are that Michael Bay will return to direct "Transformer 5: Murder Prime" and it will be the worst film out of all.

Michael Bay has run out of steam, AOE makes the 1st 3 films look like masterpieces compared to this last tragedy.

I'm feeling a little nauseous and it's not my stomach virus this time.

Who is "we?" Are you part of the pre-production or production of Paramount's Transformers franchise?

couldnt agree more..........i still dont get how Bay even got the job in the first place, the guys movies have all been terrible, i remember when he was made director, i knew exactly how these movies would play out.......hollow, all action, no substance......like each and every one of his films.........
i remember in film class, my teacher pointed out Bay as a glorfied hack.........and thats what he is....... :HEADHURTS:

My brain said "we" as in everyone at Hasbro and Paramount, more correctly I should have stated "they"!

I would not admit to working there even it was true :michaelbay:
