You might remember MGA when we were discussing Toysrus declaring bankruptcy. Isaac Larian, the CEO of MGA, wanted to purchase it, but his lowball offer didn't get accepted. Well, today we are talking about MGA again because that company decided to add Optimus Prime to their list of characters being mocked in their Hangrees line of toys. To avoid infringement, this satirical novelty toy is called Pooptimus Prime and he is part of the world's poopiest robot set with R2D2 and the Terminator. These toys come with slime making kits where you can colour the slime and have it processed by your toy so it can be crapped out. This is adding to the ongoing theme of toilet themed toys that have been pooping up in toy stores. This particular picutre comes from Toysrus in Canada but these toys can also be found at Meijer in the US.

As if there weren't enough gross-out toys that should have stayed in whatever decade they came out from...

Hey, this is no laughing matter! Optimus Prime is getting quite old by now and his structural integrity isn't what it used to be. He's an old bot and his body is failing him! Should we be laughing at an old man leaking energon from his exhaust pipe?! :-x

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnHmupiVpIs&t=2s Yeah, someone covered how it seems like there are "too many" of these kind of gross out toys these days...

Well. I so wish this surprised me. But, I work a retail store and regularly have to work in the toy department. I'm not surprised.

I hate Wolverine & Mario & they already screwed with them so that's an added bonus for me. ;)^

This one is a tough one for me

I love gag parodies, like Wacky Packages, which these all come packed with

I love Slime, and Slime based toys. always a classic

I love mighty mugs, and goofy oddball funky looking stuff like madballs etc

so this should be a total win for me...

But I hate poop jokes, and I am generally disturbed by the barrage of toys and games currently on shelves that are all about playing with your poop

If it was official, it wouldn't be in this forum. This is unlicensed but it isn't 3rd party either (not that 3rd party was ever a proper word for Chinese companies making Transforming toys that use the likeness and dont pay).

This is parody, and a Transformers reference from a 1st party channel (mass North American retail) and from an actual competitor to Hasbro no less. So consider it similar to articles pointing out transformers references in animé or marvel comics or robot chicken or whatnot.

All the characters put out in that line are spoofs on popular characters (and the food items again spoofs)

I'm just surprised an unlicensed product was front paged, that's all.

As I said, think of it more as a reference to the brand. We news that quite a bit. This should in no way be confused with what fans call 3rd party products, which would be illegal according to US law.

Since when are laws chosen by the American people?

Ah it’s parody not third party. And a royal hoot at that. Can’t take Transformers too seriously that’s why everyone either kind of loves Swerve, loves Swerve, or really loves Swerve. And dude, Prime got Swerved.

*hands a box of tissues*

Laws chosen by people? Quite a few actually, though mostly when it comes to public safety. Laws that have an economic impact? Corporations all the way, Disney and copyright laws being good examples.

Speaking of copyright laws, parodies can enjoy special exemptions. What we call Third Party figures do not, because they seek to imitate, not make fun of the characters we hold dear.

When even Optimus pushes into the game you start to wonder if there was some conspiracy in the prospective interest sector. Whoever is in charge of gauging the curve of what kids will find interesting in the coming year we want answers.
