Missing Link Ultra Magnus Fully Revealed

Posted by ScottyP Sep 7, 2025 at 10:51am CDT 42,030 views
After months of rumors and last week's teasing, the next entry into Takara Tomy's amazing Transformers Missing Link toy line has been fully revealed. The Autobot City Commander Ultra Magnus will join his fellow Autobots in March of 2026, and he's bringing along a friend or two for the ride. Not only will Ultra Magnus include a Diaclone driver figure, but this release will feature the first ever reissue (or at least sort of reissue as it appears to be all new tooling) of the Diaclone Powered Buggy mold, this time in blue and named Deer Stalker with, best we can tell, no relation to the Battle Beast of the same name.

Preorders are open for the figure now at Amazon Japan and other Japanese retailers, with many other worldwide outlets sure to follow soon.

Check out several images of the toy mirrored below, which show off the toy's added articulation, interactivity with other Missing Link and G1 toys, Deer Stalker, all of the trailer's modes and the sublime molded and painted detailing representative of the sticker designs from the original G1 Ultra Magnus toy.

Deerstalker is so named in reference to deerstalker caps, like the one famously worn by Sherlock Holmes. He's a detective.

The Battle Beast "Deer Stalker" is known better by Takara as the Beastformer "Big Serow".

So, Magnus will partsform the same way as the original G1 toy. The big head, the chest-plate, the jockstrap (two of them!) and obviously, the weapons. As long that the parts storage is clever, I don't mind.

Looks like the fists are now integrated with the trailer, at least.

Oh, I missed that part. Nice and logical. Also, it is the same with the White Prime, who may be a straight repaint of the ML Optimus.

The cab's legs must have been retooled in order to bend forward at the knee, since the legs on Missing Link Convoy can't do that:

Plus some new panel tooling:

Now this is one toy I like. As a child, I absolutely loved my G1 Ultra Magnus, despite it being, well, a brick. The extra sidekick is just the icing on the cake.

So we cannot use ML Optimus as Magnus's "rider." :-?

Anyway, Hobby Search's preorders are up for "only" 22500JPY:

I just hope it will not cost 8000JPY to ship.

Okay, I'll ask. Why are there 2 slightly dfferent jockstraps?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but... I'm pretty sure this maxtrix will never open. Even for Missing Link Ultra Magnus' darkest hour. He is doomed!

The only Matrix accessories that have ever been able to open were the large-sized MP ones. Every other Matrix accessory has been a solid single-molded piece.

I'm pretty sure one is the trailer hitch for the ML white Prime, and the other one is to hitch the G1 original as an option. :-?

I like how Deerstalker's arms stay attached to him rather than popping off and partsforming to the wheels.

But it looks like they do. I like how they kept the overall silhouette similar.

The original G1 Ultra Magnus had two cab connectors.

Right, but they were the same shape as each other. The two included with this version are shaped differently.

Image

The top one is shaped like the two that came with the original toy, while the bottom one moves the trailer hitch hole from the below the connector's "belt" up to the middle of it, looking more like the cartoon model.

I see that the peg holes of both jock-straps are not of the same diameter. So, the "toon" one won't hitch to the cab I assume? :-?

But this is Missing Link Ultra Magnus. Give him an opening matrix. Give him a fighting chance.

Edit: I don't think he can hold the Matrix accessory, anyway.

Speaking of Magnus's Matrix, I bet it store behind the partsforming chestplate.
