OK, the more I see Battletrap the more I feel like something is just slightly off on him. I can't put a finger on it though....

Or, with no expectation that a live-action TF movie ever respect a G1 gimmick, that this figure's arms-to-legs body proportion's all worng? Arms too short, legs too long?

The proportions are a bit wonky, though it may be completely accurate to the cgi model, but we'll have to wait and see on that one (or the original design was like that and the character could have been altered slightly in the one year delay)

Also, I've spotted a smilely face in battletrap's chest and now I can't unsee it

No...there's something about the length of the torso in relation to the legs and the legs themselves.

It's his arms! He can't even scratch his own codpiece because his arms are too short. On the average person, the arms come down to about mid thigh. His are at his enemy scrotum. Next to figures with normal length arms like Cheetor, it looks goofy and odd.

They completely ruined my favorite combiner team. (Terrorcons)
And they ruined my favorite Insecticon team, the 4 deluxe Insecticons. I gave up on ever getting the full team/set unless I go back & buy the crappy G1 toys.

There is really no need for me to continue collecting this franchise. I will pick up BB movie Skywarp & titan Nemesis and finish up my leader Dinobots but that's about it. I might also try to get the full set of BB movie Autobots but I'm really not motivated anymore. I lost interest with Kingdom & they're not doing a damned thing to get me interested again. Everything just keeps getting worse & worse. Maybe that new video game will be good?

I hate when that happens to me, it really screws up my vision and focus on a toy.

I can sympathize. They haven't put out anything in a LONG time that I felt I just HAD to have. I collected all the combiners from Combiner Wars, but after that it's been barely a handful of figures from the lines that followed. The fact the store shelves around here have been practically empty since POTP hasn't helped either. None of the kiddie lines or Baybot mess interest me at all, so I'm having a REALLY hard time staying interested.

I wouldn't put much hope in the game.

Vicegripx and Actar posted some new images showing the upcoming Rise of the Beasts deluxe Nightbird with her weapons properly used to create the car's spoiler. It uses the two hooks and sword. We also have more images of her bot mode and with other bots from the mainline and Studio Series to show scale. Enjoy!

Cannot wait to have her, a badass bot mode and a slick alt-mode, a fun reimagining of the character. It might just be me, but her head is reminiscent of BW Scorponok, his toy head at least.

Ok, having her weapons form a spoiler is such a cool and genius idea!

That Nightbird sure got a HUGE... upgrade compared to the original.

Not really seeing anything in the RoB lineup that makes me think, "I want to buy one". Guess it's still kind of early, but so far it seems like I'll be voting 'present' for these figures...

Oddly enough I don't hate the look of Wheel Jack, though I'd never but the bot for him I might get it if i see it on sale and call it something else entirely.

So if it's possible to give the Beewun Wheeljack head to the ROTB body, does this mean it's possible to give the ROTB head to the Beewun body? Hmmmmmm

As much as I want to like the figs in this line I just can't. More for everyone else!

The more I see of these, the easier it makes me skip this line.

Some modifications might help. The end result will be a sight to behold.

Can't really say I'm a fan of the colour. I wish they used the original grey/silver. Same concern with Wheeljack: nice figure overall, missing the classic paint scheme.

Nightbird's a pass. Quite a bit of good idea (sword as spoiler, the claws, love the headsculpt) thrown into the design, but I find the end result wanting, especially the whole of the car's front as the chest, Datsun bros-style and the top-heavy proportion that I don't like for a fembot (if Hasbro can design her chest like the recent SS Hot Rod that'd be great). But I'll look forward to how she appeared in the movie and hope for a good SS version instead.

Wheeljack, I kind of like the toy design, especially the alt mode. But this has Michael Bay's signature stereotype written all over it ("Oh we're doing Wheeljack? Bring in all the clichés to humiliate all nerds!"). I'm afraid I'll HATE the toy after seeing the movie.

Battletrap's alt mode is great. Bot came out oddly blocky looking though, and has the same top-heavy proportion problem as Nightbird in bot mode, but that's a minor complaint. Should be a get.

The Beasts are all pretty good and are the most exciting part of ROTB for me, in the movie OR the figures.

I’m never adding a movie-verse group to my collection.
The only one of these that is remotely tempting for me is Airazor.
Even though the bot face is a bit cartoonish imo, the molded detail, colors, overall form, and alt mode are all really solid.

One thing I’ll give this line is the variety.
Not just because some have beast alt modes.
But even between Arcee, Wheeljack, Nightbird, Freezer, & Battletrap; they each look unique.
Imo that’s a really good thing.

God I love all of these. I need them all!

Well, I will say Scourge looks pretty cool.

I used to LOVE this franchise (excluding Beast Machines & Animated).

Just looked at the Scourge photos in the Toy News section of this site, and man, I am going to be tempted to get that guy.
He has a Lockdown meets TLotR Nazgûl appearance, and I really dig the smaller, asymmetric details, and the dark color scheme.

This definitely has my attention, which is surprising considering the vast majority of times movie figures usually don’t get a second glance.

This feels both repulsive and appealing at the same time.

We have found a video review of deluxe Nightbird from the Rise of the Beasts toyline. This toy should be released alongside the Cheetor, Airazor and Wheeljack toy we have previously seen in the Rise of the Beasts toyline. These are not Studio Series figures. These toys are said to have a release date of March 1 though there is still no official news about them from Hasbro. While the title of this review may be nonsense, it gives an idea of the complexity of the figure for those who don't mind having the transformation spoiled. We also have the review for deluxe Cheetor below, which was posted earlier.

Looks like an Interesting figure! Though not fond of the color pallet. Most of the ROTB figures look fun, but would benefit from repaints/ retools like 07, ROTF and hunt for Decepticons toys.

I probably shouldn't add to this, but dang-it, the one TF fast food tie-in forever deep-fried into my memory is KFC Singapore's DOTM meal actually labeled "Boxmaster". In hindsight, they clearly jumped the gun by 12 years and promoted the wrong movie. To everyone complaining that the name "Terrorcons" has been nonsensically applied to this new motley crew of 'Cons, I now know what their sub-group should've been called.

And if we're hypersexualizing Nightbird, I think it might actually be a functional file cabinet...

There will be a Studio Series release of Wheeljack as well but we have not seen it as it probably is not coming out in the first wave of Studio Series toys from the Rise of the Beasts line.

I still find that Wheeljack toy to be almost perfect. My only beef is the scale of the vehicle may be too small. But that ain't a dealbreaker for me and he will be a sure purchase. I hope Toyhax will come up with a cool Reprolabels sheet to turn him into a new character. Maybe even with a beard we can clip on for the full hippie look.
