Movie Masterpiece MPM-03 Sentinel Prime
Movie Masterpiece MPM-04 Ironhide
You may recall that Leader Class Starscream was the first Movie Masterpiece, painted glamarously and un-tattooed. Battle Ops Bumblebee was the second Movie Masterpiece, painted in shiny fashion. No word on whether or not the new Leader Class Bumblebee will be released in Takara's Movie Masterpiece toy line.

It seems to me that the MP line is starting to become one of those lines where they throw anything into it that doesn't fit anywhere else.
I'll stick with the American ones like I always do.
Now if they painted Sentinel Prime black, then I'd be all over that.

With the DOTM DVD release in Japan, it might just happen. Hopefully they do it in Gold so it fits on my Classics shelf XD.

But seriously though! What the hell is up with those cannons? They look tinyyyyyy and reallllllyyy inaccurate. Also, the wheels on the inner thighs? Thats so awkward!
.. Also .. I mean i liked the faceplate on recon and deluxe ironhide, but from what I've seen of the leader / MP so far... it just doesnt work ... it looks ... weird, but I hope its optional or something like animated voyager and TF: cybertron prime's were.
I'll still get it regardless because its Ironhide ... I just hope alot of the pictures are misleading ....

It's not really part of the MP line. It's the MPM line, Movie Masterpieces, there is a difference. Kinda like the Brave Masterpiece line MPB. Three different Masterpiece lines, except that two of them deal with Transformers.

He looks so good though!

This, so this. There is no way I'm spending over twice-close to three times when you factor in shipping-for these figures for some paint. It's Henkai all over again for me.

i hope you guys don't own the reissue of predaking. .. and i hope you've never paid around $70 or $100 for a G1 figure, and i really hope none of you own any henkei figures, or plan on purchasing any of the united figures, otherwise, i'd have to call that a little bit of hypocrisy.
as an owner of MPM starscream, i can say that the $100 is WELL worth it. it's probably one of my favorite figures.,, and if you exclude the MP line, it IS my favorite figure.

Don't get me wrong, I think the toy looks awesome but he is clearly Alpha Trion.

People r starting to wake up. Keep it up people. By the way the trailer was standard for Optimus since 5 years ago before they got greedy and irresponsible with the pricing.
huh?.. greedy and irresponsible? .. outrageous prices?
prices for almost everything are higher. i mean, look at gas, it's up to $3.06 in my area and it's higher in the midwest. it costs more to make these figures, and we've come a long long way since the G1 brick (i love G1 fyi) which means it takes more work to design figures these days.
this is just the way the world works, not just hasbro and takara. I don't see how they're being greedy and irresponsible.. transformers in general cost more in japan, now add the new paint, the different packaging, and the fact that mpm is only being released overseas.. and the cost isn't all that outrageous. i mean, to import a voyager united figure is like $55 before shipping. like i said before, prices are all relative.
everyone overpays for everything everyday. if you go get a drink somewhere from a soda fountain, you're overpaying, if you buy fast food you're overpaying, if you buy a pair of jeans you're overpaying.
but you've got to remember.. you're never just paying for what you're getting, you're giving money to the people who designed the figure, the people who hired them, the paint for the figure, where the paint came from, the materials for said figure and its transportation to the factory, the distribution of that figure from the factory, the packaging materials, the transportation for the packaging materials.. etc.
plus, things are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. to me, MPM starscream is worth the $100 price tag.
and here's the beautiful thing about this.. you don't have to buy any of it. you have a choice to buy this stuff or not.

What does your constitution have do with the price of Transformers toys?

I'm not a "brown noser", i just think with the way the world works these prices are reasonable.. that doesn't mean i like paying the prices.
your second sentence doesn't make much sense to me. tell you wHere i'm going to be after what, and why?
and as professor smooth posted, what does the constitution have to do with any of this?
oh my bad.. here it is..
in article IV section 3 it states that "Takara nor hasbro should be allowed to charge an amount of money for a Transformers toy that Optimusprime58316 has not approved of first. Failure of approval will result in 5 lashings and a 2 minute name calling session.
before this gets out of hand. i'm done, you win.
anyways. it really still baffles me that they can't get his damn cannons right. i mean.. his legs look pretty good, minus the inner tires but i can look passed that, and the chest looks damn good. but man why can't they get his arm cannons right.. this should've been the EASIEST ironhide to give accurate cannons to. because of the mech tech weapon crap, it would've been so easy to just have his weapon be his accurate arm cannons.. but no.
but hey, maybe those weapons are accurate, maybe he has new ones, after all, at the end of rotf he did detach his right arm cannon while they were running from the huge air strike. i would be able to deal with them a bit better if they're accurate, but the normal ones still look the best and really gives him a more beefy badass look.
i'll probably stick to the hasbro versions too, unless the mpm figures look really good (like starscream and buster prime).

So is Buster Prime basically a "Movie Masterpiece" or do you think another will be released specifically in the MMP line? The reason I'm asking is because a Buster Prime is bidding at a reasonable price on eBay and I'm debating on whether I should just wait and see if there is a MMP Prime.

That's anybody's guess really. If Takara releases a MPM Leader Class Prime, then it would be in the high range of $100+ anyways. Depends if you want to get the figure now or wait half a year.

I guess I'll just watch the Buster Prime and if I can, get it at a good price. If not then hopefully they will release a MPM Leader Prime, but I'm not spending over $110 or so (minus shipping) on either one. Not for a repainted Leader, even if it does look really cool...
Posted by TimothyR on February 14th, 2011 @ 5:20am CST
they may release the supreme prime as an MPM, but i highly doubt it.
if you can get buster for a good price.. i'd say go for it.
