Did G1 Prime and Animated Prime have some sort of weird and wrong robot love to make this abomination?
At least the helmet is awesome.

I would buy that, but I hope they come in a slightly larger size than the ROTF Prime costume, for the more zaftig TF fan... *blushes*

all it needs is someone to hem in some boxy shoulders and it would look fine..
that is why it looks off, it has no shoulders built into the chest area..they wouldn't even have to move with the arms, just sit there and the stretchy fabric can allow arm movement..

I'm liking the helmet. Obviously a mass produced halloween costume isn't going to be great so the body is discardable but I can see modding the helmet if it is decent in person. Put blue transparent plastic over the eye areas, maybe use a different hue of blue on the helmet.

...Eww...
With the styling they handle the "blocky" parts, and Animated Optimus might have worked better.

Effort usually shows through so a custom built project that probably took hundreds of man hours should be better than a mass produced costume. The linked video shows a costume that's fine for display purposes but you can't do a lot in it. I've seen other videos of the guy plodding around and scaring people, hehe.

I found this home made costume that I think is pretty good. At least the wearer is more mobile. Unfortunately, due to average human proportions, most people who wear such a costume will look like Mighty Muggs Optimus Prime. I think with some tweaking, slim down the costume in areas like the boots, it could look less chunky. Get someone particularly tall and you'd have a pretty good Optimus Prime.

you know what guys, i thingk what we need to do is look at it as a toy. yes a toy why cuss as we know ppl sure love to fiddle with the toys and make improvements or fixes. so i say buy it and then look at it as a toy and kidbash it or make improvements so it can the the costume that you would like to have. after all we all love how some transformers turn out when they are kidbash or work on for improvements. i do love the helmet but with some improvements, this costume will be the prime.

If the helmet is as good as it looks in the promotional photo, I may get the costume just for the helmet. I don't normally have any interest in costumes/cosplay but I'm thinking that a home made costume could be a fun project. I haven't looked around but I don't recall ever seeing a Black Convoy home made costume. It could be worth a shot at attempting.

I always modify costumes that i buy. If I were to buy this, I would make the shoulders bigger and add smokestacks. Put some blue lenses in the eyes and make the feet more blocky. Depending on how the back looks, I'd add the "backpack" he has.

I can't see the what the youtube links are in this thread where I'm currently at so I don't know if that's what they're linking, but wasn't there some homemade G1 Prime costume that the dude was able to transform to alt mode in? It looked fairly straight forward to make and could have been made to look much better than this attempt...
