Cant wait for this! Im gonna ship it as soon as Perfect Effects upgrades come in. And hopefully Renderform is almost ready with the guns. I got a nice big butter tub to store all those ugly stock parts and weapons.

IMO only Mötormaster is the reason to buy this. The other Stunticons aren't worth the buck.

I'm still really pissed about Menasor's shoulders. They fall apart if you try and move the arms even a little bit. ruins it for me. Defensor has better shoulder locking.

I ended up buying 2 Motormasters because of that. First one had that problem thought it was just mine because reviews I saw didn't have that issue(my Optimus doesn't have the issue) and my second Motormaster has the the same problem. It's not a huge gripe for me because his legs and stance are a bigger issue. All in all I like menasor a lot, he's "solid" for the most part.

So it comes with two Dragstrip and two Dead End/Wildrider hand/foot/guns. That sucks but luckily I'm happy with my Hasbro version. They could've at least put in two Dragstrip and two Breakdown hand/foot/guns. That way Dragstrip and Breakdown would get the ones that are specifically designed for them and Dead End and Wildrider would each have a different one from each other and they'd both look different than Dragstrip and Breakdown because they'd be upside down from them.

I dislike it when an insignia is split in half like this. It's almost never aligned right when pieced together.

Well in the original cartoon Starscream used old broken down WWII vehicles which, once infused with the sparks of the Combaticons, changed shape into the vehicles we know.

Aren't they all but retired anyway?

They did that with Superion too. There are onl 2 different hand/feet molds but I think it is to convey a sense of uniformity.

Sling and Firefly share molds, therefore the same combiner piece, as do Skydive and Air Raid. Look at the Hasbro version of the "correct" Superion:

That makes Menasor even more puzzling.

Sure does.
Oh I have a question for you G1ers. Why are the legs flipped so that you lose a knee bend in the G1 toy as well as have the robot kibble exposed as oppose to the Jet .... forget it, I just saw this pic:

I guess it was for cartoon accuracy. But the toys came first right? So why didnt they just flip the legs for them to be more along the lines of the current Combiner Wars orientation from the get go? That would have of course lead to the cartoon having the legs flipped (since the cartoon was imitating the toy). Any reason? Because I actually find having the combiner wars orientation to be more stable for the G1 toys.

The leg bots had the bottom facing front most likely for esthetic reasons. All kibble had to be moved out of plain view i.e. moved to the back whenever possible. Funnily enough Menasor had an animation model that shows the legs facing the opposite direction (and upside down):

Interesting. I personally find the robot kibble more distracting than the alt mode kibble (well for the generations toys, not the G1s since the robot arms are not obvious at all). Also, this means that the third party combiners are greatly inaccurate in terms of G1 accuracy.

And used in the Aerialbots/Stunticons commercial.

btw, the back of the legs was still upside-down in the final model.

That was in the Japanese Generations iirc. The proto animation model sheets until they settled for the ones in the show.
Don't even get me started on Bruticu whose animation model doesn't look at all like the toy.

Those sheets do prove that the position of the legs wasn't set in stone during development, Defensor aside. Here's something funny:
Superion: bottom front
Menasor: bottom front
Defensor: bottom back
Bruticus: front (Swindle, Vortex & Blast Off) and back (Brawl)
Computron: bottom back
Abominus: bottom front
Piranacon: bottom front
Superion: bottom front
Menasor: bottom front
Defensor: bottom back
Bruticus: front (Swindle, Vortex & Blast Off) and back (Brawl)
Computron: bottom back
Abominus: bottom front
Piranacon: bottom front
