New Images of Takara Animated Jetpack Bumblebee

If it were ever released in North America, it would go by the name of Hydrodive Bumblebee. Sadly that seems to not be the case. With that Takara has taken the figure under it's wing and have called it Jetpack Bumblebee. This figure contains a brand new Bumblebee figure, about the size of a Scout Class. It's accompanied by a rather strange looking scuba gear. Bumblebee's cosplay of Animated Seaspray is complete with deco of gold paint. Thanks to Transformers insider KOToys, check out the figure below!

Wow, I'm underwhelmed by the toy. I know the main draw of the figure is the new underwater alt mode add on but now that I'm seeing more detailed photos of the figure, it just doesn't look great to me at all. If a different colour was used for the flat blue areas, I think I'd have a different impression of the figure.

Looks ok but i'd rather have it be flat yellow than that tacky gold. Also why is that carmode so deformed looking?

not crazy about the gold paint, but at least his scale has improved.

I didn't know it was an all new mold. Huh. Pretty neat.

But ya know, this really is a very odd piece of Transformer history. It's an accessory set/power up armor type thing, and you very rarely see that sort of thing associated with Transformers. Outside of Actionmasters and the Tako Tank, I don't think there are any other examples of this inside the Transformers toy line.

Hmmm... it's not as appealing as it was when I saw the first pictures of it. I do like the scale of the new BB mold, though. Looks like it would fit in with the other Animated figures better.

They should paint it blue and make it Glyph

It's Buzz Light Year !!!

Its concepts like this that probally caused the death of the animated line in the USA...

Odd, but kinda cool. If Hasbro ever gets around to releasing theirs, I might consider it, as I only have Activators Bumblebee. I really like the huge pistol/harpoon guns. The backpack looks okay in alt mode without the canopy over his head too.

It is Buzz! That's hilarious.

But on another note, this figure was never released in the U.S., and no other figures like it were either, so I hardly think it was the death of Animated.

But as I said earlier, concepts like this are very uncommon in Transformers toys, but the concept itself must have some merit. Otherwise, lines like Batman and Spider-Man would have failed LONG ago.

Besides, is this any more ludicrous than Kayak Spider-Man?

Terrible, a scout toy for the price of a Voyager and toys like Maruader Megatron will never see the light of day but this did, for shame

If it was all solid yellow it would remind me of G1 Bumblebee Cybertron mode from episode one.

I think it looks better than the deluxe but now that I get a better look at it in bigger clearer photos (with size comparisons to boot) my anticipation has dropped a bit.

The lower legs are big improvements IMO. The feet are better and the back of the legs seem more compact.

My biggest gripe is the head. There's something off about the sculpt. The deluxe and activator heads look more cartoon accurate.

I was also hoping Hydrodive BumbleBee would be a bit smaller and more of a middle ground between the deluxe and activator but his size is still an improvement. It may never be sold in the States but if it is all I'd really want changed is a more accurate head and yellow color scheme instead of the gold.

If it was going to be released by Hasbro it would have been yellow.

Hmm. I like the gold on the diver ityself, but meh. I'd wanted it more as a basis for another figure though, Tak ain't worth it for this.

Yes we all know that from the early pictures that surfaced online but that of course got canceled or at best put on hold. If Hasbro ever does decide to release it who knows if it'll be in the proper colors. They could release the mold colored differently if they haven't already produced a large run of figures but my gut tells me that it'll be in the colors I want.

Right now all we got is the Takara Tomy version to choose from.

I like it.

I wish it was in the proper yellow and not Takara gold.

I'll be happy to finally have a properly scaled BB for my Animated display.

I've been using activators BB, but his weird arms and the black "shoulders" that stick out in car mode kind of hurt his look.

I definitely feel the pain of paying for a voyager mold for a scout class guy, especially an import.

Hopefully someday Hasbro will release him. Maybe under the universe/generations title.

I feel the same way. I like Activators Bumblebee despite not being totally accurate to the cartoon and use him as my Bumblebee in my animated display.

I don't mind that the robot is a bit to short and I like the way the car scales with Ratchet, Blurr, Sentinel and some of the other vehicles. The robot even looks good with some of the Cons like Starscream since they towered over the Autobots. Its just the arms on Activators Bumblebee that hurt his appeal for me.
