I really like this figure a lot but I agree with the earlier comment-looks very simplified. Hopefully Takara will give it a "little extra" in the paint app category.

Is it just me or have the for arms also been remolded slightly?
All it needs is a hand gun and missle add on and itll be perfect

Yes, they have.

I too would like to see Takara's painted version. I would like to see a chrome bumper.

Not the first glaring typographical error on Transformers packaging, probably not the last either. I'd try to argue it's necessity for trademark purposes, but then the "Solar Storm" in the name already takes care of that. Perhaps it's a packaging test shot and the error will be fixed by it's actual release... Then again, perhaps not. I could see Hasbro letting this slide...Pretender Skywarp wrote:Hang about...

I thought I was the only one that noticed that obvious misspelling of "GRAPPLE." I wonder if this will make the toy more valuable once it hits retail.

Anyways, I always liked the red of Inferno better than the yellow of Grapple, but I never even saw one in stores, so I'll gladly pick up Grapple, especially since it looks like he's gotten a few upgrades to his mold. What's up with the name Solar Storm though? Is he supposed to have some sort of new powers or something?

Hasbro have done some nice remolding on him although his paint looks a bit too yellow if you ask me.
Either way I'm glad they finally did this repaint as I really like Classics Inferno although like everyone else I think I'll wait until I see Takara Tomy's version before I buy it.
They seem to be releasing all the figure I have no interest in in the first wave of Transformers United so hopefully by next Spring some of the most wanted guys like Jazz, Tracks and 'Grappel' will be coming.
G1 Hotspot repaint possibility?

Don't like how the color got more yellow from the preview pic at toy fair, though.

Prowl1529 wrote:Has anyone knows whitch size will Scout Windcharger be? His he at the same size of Deluxe Bumblebee?
He is a scout class figure so he should be about as big as any other scout which means he will be smaller than deluxe bumblebee.

But I missed out on Inferno so this is a must get for me. And it looks great despite the coloration so I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

Azure_Dragoon wrote:I also am not overly fond of the brightness of the yellow. I would like a more realistic yellow...
Given the amount of photoshopping that Hasbro's publicity department uses, I'm betting that this isn't the "real" shade of yellow on the fig.

i even bought the reissue even tho my original was in decent condition... i have classics inferno and to be honest it's one of my least favourites - maybe cos he didn't have a big white step ladder.
he is very g1 like in his blockiness and his transformation is quite fun (i really like voyager class tfs cos of their balance in transformation complexity and size). I Am pleased they remolded the arms on grapple and gave him a decent sized crane.. though certain details would've been nice such as the inclusion of weaponry - hand gun and er gun for a hand.
and yeah he should be more orange.. in that pic he looks more like a homage to the micromaster erector
but hey i'll be buying him anyways.

I doubt its a typo. It'll be an intentional misspelling to get the name clear legal. Just like Scattorshot was an intentional misspelling of Scattershot. The name on the slides would be before they had to design the packaging; stuff can happen like that.

I already have Inferno and Spark and I told myself I don't need another version of this mold.
But he really looks tempting.

Yep, it's the mid-line rebranding for Generations and Hunt for the Decepticons. The gimmick is the rubsign, so the actual allegiance of the character is a mystery. That also explains why there are no "Autobot" this and "Decepticon" that, instead there are silly nicknames.

Indeed, though I imagine there was a three step process here:
1) Change Grapple to Grappel to pass trademark.
2) Discover that, since "Grappel" is not phonetically distinct from "Grapple" they still can't trademark it (remember, that's why they couldn't get "Airachnid"), so amend the application to add "Solar Storm", reflecting his bright yellow paint job.
3) Either forget they had changed the spelling of his name, or decide not to risk changing it back because they were already on a tight deadline, and can't afford another rejection.
Anyway, humans screw around with the spellings of their names all the time, even within a single language, consider:
Johnathan vs. Jonathon
Kathryn vs. Catherine
And if you get into nick-names things potentially get really crazy*:
Johnathan = John, Jonny, Nathan, Nate, & Jack
William = Liam, Will, & Bill
Alexander = Xander, Alex, & Lex
Robert = Bert, Rob, & Bob
Henry = Hank
Benjamin = Ben, Benny, & Obi-Wan

Why would Cybertronians be any better about spelling their names?
[*I'm not actually looking up the etymology for the names, I'm just going by shortenings of the names individuals may/might use. If you get into etymology, stepping things through multiple languages, it potentially gets stranger.]

So Generations & HFTD are merging into a single line?

His head was also black in some episodes, just like the toy. Can't think of what episodes off hand, but yeah, most of us think of him from the "solar power tower" ep where it was yellow.
Maybe they'll tell us exactly what "solar storm" means in his bio? shrugs This toy is awesome though, I might pick it up.
As for Revealing the Shield, am I the only one who had trouble getting rub signs to work as a kid? I mean they would never change for me, unless I put hot water on them or something! Probably because I had cold hands I guess. heh.

And I still haven't gotten a Classics/Henkei Optimus Prime cuz I never found him in stock... and well, he's stupid expensive on the aftermarket (end of bitching)
Loving that he has that full crane! Hope I can find an Inferno at some point so I can have both.

It would appear so, especially with the pics of the Roddy and Cyclonus two pack.

I am very glad to see that he has numerous re-molded parts. From what I can tell: head, arms, articulated hands, alt mode side panels, and his ladder of course. Looks like he needs more paint apps, but that may be a prototype issue.
I'd like a more orange color too, but that may just be the lighting. Can't wait.
