Yeah, I think I'm going to skip out on Hoist in favor of getting Trailbreaker. I was considering getting Hoist since I got Grapple, but honestly I just think Trailbreaker looks a lot better.

Why not both? Is it a mold-collecting thing? So that means you won't be getting Inferno either, since you got Grapple?

It's not a mold collecting thing, it's just that I have to be a bit picky about where my money goes. I don't have a job (I'm too busy with college, going for mechanical engineering), so the majority of my spending money comes from the $8 I earn from doing chores every week. Hoist just doesn't grab me nearly as much as Trailbreaker does, and I'm already planning to spend a lot on transformers as it is (probably more than I'm going to be able to actually get, if I'm being honest). I may get Inferno, but it depends on how he looks and who else is coming out around the same time.

I’m really looking forward to this version of Trailbreaker. It’s a great upgrade to the Thrilling 30 and CW versions. I also like the Hoist mood, so I guess it isn’t a surprise I think ER Trailbreaker is a great figure. I’m eagerly awaiting my BBTS preorder.

For my part, I'm unsure if I'll get Trailbreaker just because I already have Hoist, and of late I've been trying to cut back on the number of mold-duplicates in my collection (with the exception of the darn Seekers)....

What is it about Seekers that's got everybody including myself so obsessed over them and willing to spend thousands on the same mold in different colors?

Is it just because they have been an established group since the original toys/cartoon? I don't see people go crazy over the Datsun-bros, Ironhide/Ratchet or Bumblebee/Cliffjumper/Hubcap/Bumper types despite also being around for a long time.

Because they look cool

You don't? From a toy aspect, I love my Datsuns as much as the F-15s. I think it probably goes to how they were presented in "fiction". I quote it because some of it was commercials.

I think the difference between the jets and the other mold sharing figures is they've always been kind of a package deal. Prowl and Bluestreak teamed up once on the show, but weren't really associated together in any meaningful way, and they didn't really do anything with them and Smokescreen either - same with Cliffjumper and Bumblebee (Hubcap and Bumper are afterthoughts).

That particular body type was used as a crowdfiller in the original cartoon, right from the very first scenes. So kids saw that design a lot. Plus, compare how many turned into land vehicles to the amount of aircraft.

Seekers are fun. Planes are inherently cooler than both tapes, camera dudes, and cars. But they're also more interesting than some of the other army builders because they can come in a wide variety of colors, unlike Sweeps. I mean, I like Sweeps, but making an army of them really is buying the exact same toy more than a few times.

Visually, I think the Seekers have a great look too.

Plus, the same mold in large amounts can look impressive.

Personally, I blame Animated for my love of Seekers, as well as Bumblebee/Cliffjumper, due to the Starscream Clones and the amount of crowd fillers with Bumblebee's body type

Yeah, I'll take all the weird and obscure colors they want to give us, even ones that don't have their own names. For Datsuns I'm hoping for a Barricade, blue Bluestreak, and Silverstreak (Bluestreak without the black stripe, it got an MP that specifically used that name instead of Streak or Bluestreak). Heck, I'd take a yellow Cliffjumper (even though it's just Hubcap with a different head), red Bumblebee, Artfire, Road Hauler, and a rainbow of Primes.

I might have a problem... :-?

Anyway, Sky Lynx arrived today from Amazon! No surprise, he's fantastic magnificent! Only tiny issue I had was his locking mechanism for combining, it took a while to get the back half to actually latch on right. But it did work after a few tries.

If anyone wants to see how he stacks up against the other Sky Lynxs:

Sky Lynxs.jpg

I was going to include Beast Hunters Sky Lynx, but when I went to pose him I realized he was missing a leg. And then when I was digging through boxes trying to find it I found Judora and he was also missing the same leg! Where the heck are my dragon legs disappearing to!?

Anyway, this has been brought up a few times and I haven't seen any pictures online so here's him with Titan Predaking:

It's not terrible, but it looks more like he's playing with a dog than fighting a rival.

All good points, I guess it helps that they were an actual group too.

Plural of Sky Lynx?
A magnificence

As for lynx vs potp predaking, he shouldn't have been a titan class but I suppose they had to fit his update somewhere

I sold my CW Devastator because he was too big and too "margarine countainer" quality for my tastes. I skipped over POTP Predaking for the same reason. A regular Combiner Wars sized Predaking will be the perfect sized against the stellar ER Skylinx. I'll have now choice but to hunt down the perfect 3P "Predaking" if I want to recreate my G1 display in a more modernised look.

So I Transformed Dirge for the first time last night and there's something that annoys me about the Coneheads transformation that I haven't seen people talk about. If you haven't noticed yet the mold has new leg panels on the shins giving them bigger knee pads which is a surprising amount of cartoon accuracy I hadn't noticed until I had them in hand. Problem is the new knee pads don't fit under the "skirt" in jet mode like they do for the original Seeker. Instead you have to leave the panel slightly open and have the pads on the outside of the skirt. They're only being held in place with friction from the pin joint and nothing else. Really feels like an oversight when designing, seems like they could have found a way for that little nub that locks the panel in place catch in both modes. It isn't a huge issue now, but I just hope we don't end up with loose pin joints that will cause that panel to constantly fall open in jet mode in the future.

In other news, my Scorponok shipped from Amazon. They're saying it'll arrive next Monday, but I think it'll be here sooner like how my Sky Lynx originally said this Friday, but showed up yesterday.

At least for me, I like the voyager seekers since I am finally filling out the main decepticon cast, the Autobot cast has pretty much been covered, as has the later Decepticons, but the main Con army members were missing, and now they are coming together. And they normally act as units, which works nicely for them as teams.

Plus, several seekers mean different important things for me, Thundercracker and Dirge in particular since I really liked them in IDW, which forms the primary basis for my "G1" collecting.

I did notice that issue Emerje, but I didn't get any of the vanilla seekers, so I don't know how the kneepads worked originally for comparison.

Having messed with Dirge and Ramjet some though, I have to say that while the jet mode is much cleaner on these compared to the tetrajet, the tetrajet mold is much better to me. The tetrajet is so much more posable and fun to mess with. These aren't bad, but the tetrajet is that much better. But i do look forward to completing the conehead trio and Sandstorm, here's hoping that some more seekers to finish the groups are on the way!!

Those are my exact words when comparing TR Tryp to T30 Metroplex.... But all that aside, Hopefully someone comes through with a scaled down PotP Predaking for that reason. I have the Taikongzahns scaled down CW Dev and it is great. UW/CW Dev is a perfect fit for Siege Omega but the scaled down Dev fits perfect with all the other combiners. I'd like to see someone do the same for PotP Predaking. Though I'll still keep my PotP one in the vein hope that someday we will get an 18 inch Titan Class Raiden... (I know, in my dreams).

You guys all take size way too seriously. Watch that episode -- Wheelie is taller than one of the Predacons, then when Predaking kicks the lynx they're almost exactly at toy proportions, then Sky Lynx is either much much taller than Predaking or alternatively the perspective is all screwy. Fans have a right to complain about every microscopic little thing but we're living in the golden age right now!

NO! I WILL NOT REST UNTIL I GET CONSTRUCTICONS WHO ARE IN THE CORRECT SCALE WITH ULTRA MAGNUS! THIS SCALE!

I'm joking of course I do understand concerns of scale and do not fault people for wanting things to be closer in scale to how they were typically depicted in the cartoon. One of the reasons I bought siege Prime is that I wanted a Prime that scales better with everyone else than my POTP Optimus and I'm still waiting for Voyager/Leader scale Dinobots (which hopefully the Studio Series 86 leaks signify us actually getting) but sometimes I think people can get a little ridiculous with it.
