At one point, Bruticus's deco switches to resemble that of BM Cerberus, which I think there might be something more to than a mere color change. As Megalligator refers to the "Spark Circuit" in (The) Bruticus's chest, perhaps that is similar to the Spark Engines of Car Robots that enabled the color-changing Power Up of the 3 Car Robo Brothers to occur. The guy's even got a flaming aura around himself when the color change happens as well.

In case you're curious, the three Transtectors Megaligator manupulates are those of Hardhead, Brainstorm and Galvatron.
Pretty clever in making Bruticus an amalgam of three of Straxus' clones.

My ConvoBat/Optimus Primal and Megalligator/Megatron just shipped from HLJ for $68.11. Much cheaper than BBTS and the other importers charging $89.99!

That's Weirdwolf, not Hardhead. I wonder if that Brainstorm Transtector is related to the one (Voyager) that appeared as a monument in the Magna Convoy comic? Maybe Straxus was trying to clone Blue Corps. Brainstorm after his death?
There's also been a theory that after the events of Unite Warriors that Galvatron II would end up here and seek a new body, a repaint of Legends Galvatron. Perhaps the Transtector showing up there is foreshadowing? And if that's the case what could that mean for Weirdwolf? Predacon Wolfang? Carnivac (Hasbro is rumored to be making one and Takara Tomy probably wont for Legends)?

Weirdwolf doesn't have a circular orb protruding from the center of his chest. Hardhead does.Emerje wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:In case you're curious, the three Transtectors Megaligator manupulates are those of Hardhead, Brainstorm and Galvatron.

You're both right, in fact we see three sets of Transtectors:
- the first set manipulated by Megs had Hardhead, Galvatron and Brainstorm
- after Bruticus going kablooey, the second set has Weirdwolf and Blurr thrown into the mix, with Brainstorm and Hardhead missing.
- during the duel, a third set has Skullcruncher (or Megaligator's), Highbrow and Chromedome.
Where does he keep getting them?

Oh yeah, I didn't even notice the second trio was different from the first trio since they both had Galvatron and didn't realize Blurr was in the second set instead of Brainstorm. So yeah, all of the regular sized Transtectors are represented here (plus Blurr and Galvatron) with Convobat using the Mindwipe body type. I wonder why the Scourge body was left out? Could a Scourge repaint be coming? I like reading too much into things.

Magna-Convoy comes with the claw-shield to complement the Convo-bat mould so it looks like the only part that is missing now is the pistol.
Speaking of Magna-Convoy that sword of his is useful for anyone wanting to add symmetry to Lio-Prime / Alpha Trio too in his Carrier/spaceship mode.
I guess they didn't want to use the same mould again so quickly after Grand-Scourge but I really would have preferred they used the United Warriors Optimus mould in blue instead. Then they could have left themselves some room to release the odd extra character too.
I'm sure eventually there will be a Fire-guts God Ginrai repaint of the Latest Japanese Optimus perhaps as an E-hobby exclusive - it's appropriate for them to do that.
I have been wondering if Hasbro might do something surprising and make that whole set as a special kind of Ultra Magnus and then sell the Apex Armour as something to use with that (as it surely will not fit on TR Optimus due to the different chest & arms).
A Delta Magnus based on God Ginrai would certainly be interesting - but perhaps they will just stick the Headmaster gimmick on a slight variation of the Generations Ultra Magnus after all (it still might be the other colours though).
I suppose Hasbro could also beg Takara for the japanese version and sell it as a Platinum set too.

They should have used the Battle Core Optimus Prime mold instead since Takara Tomy has yet to use that head sculpt.

Although, I do agree that Takara/e-HOBBY/Hero-X/whoever should use the Battle Core OP head mold for something. The Japanese ought to get at least one use out of it.

But then the Powered Convoy cab robot homage wouldn't have been as strong since the Powered convoy cab robot didn't have a Star Convoy-based head.Emerje wrote:RAR wrote:I guess they didn't want to use the same mould again so quickly after Grand-Scourge but I really would have preferred they used the United Warriors Optimus mould in blue instead. Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Nik Hero, probably this figure's biggest awaiter, we have the first English language review (by Primal Sabbath) of the e-Hobby exclusive set of LG-EX Convobat, with Megalligator's head/Titan Master and Ape-X drone - all using Titans Return base molds and figures! Check out the embedded video below, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub!

e-Hobby has released two diorama images of Combobat and his crew from the comic. We also have the entire comic to read (in english) coutesy of Powered Convoy aka Randy. One important thing to note is that the tail accessory for the Mind Wipe mold does not come with Combobat but with e-hobby's blue Classics Optimus redeco (aka Powered Convoy) instead. Combobat is out now so let us know how you find yours!

Why do you keep calling him "Combobat" when the official spelling on the packaging and comic is "Convobat"?
