Mowry has posted a few teasers of what to expect after fan-speculation of what to expect in the series was far from hitting the mark.
The series takes place before the events of the first TRANSFORMERS movie. It expands on the events from the first movie and this summer's sequel. If all goes well, it'll help expand upon the movie universe and set the stage for future stories as well.
Mowry goes onto discuss the conditions of Cybertron and some well known characters positions at the time that Defiance occurs. For more detailed information, make sure to head on over to The Full Mowry.
Mowry also mentions that Don Figueroa will be in control of art for issue #3, as we reported earlier.
A 5 page preview of Transformers ROTF: Defiance #1 has been posted at Comics Continuum, also included are the two standard covers as well as the retail incentive wraparound cover. Check out the 5 page preview by clicking here.
Transformers ROTF: Defiance #1 will be released in stores this upcoming Wednesday the 21st of January 2008. Chris Mowry is writing the series, with Dan Khanna and Andrew Griffith on art duties (with Figueroa on issue #3). Josh Burcham is on colours duty.

Great art by Dan Khanna as always. 
I like how he simplified the busy looking robot modes of the Movie style TFs. I love Starscreams cybertronian jet mode. I would love to see that made into a toy.

Does anyone else notice the face on the triangle Megatron is praying to? It looks like the face on the movie teaser poster.

Another thing . . . am I right in that Optimus is calling Megatron sir--as in he is subordinate to him? I thought they (Optimus and Megatron) shared the rule of Cybertron with OP governing social and Megs running the military. What gives?

i think they are going with an animated-esque story for prime
(bieng a low-ranking worker that is thrusted into bieng a rookie leader then leading up to the 1st movie were he's the guy we know and loves)

hope this is better than the other ROTF prequel they just did... looks like it... just skimmed the first one today... total crap... completely pointless... it's more an unnecessary and redundant epilogue to the first movie than a "prequel"... this one looks pretty good though

Actually, most of the art in the preview is Andrew Griffith's.
Oh, and correction: Josh PEREZ is coloring this series.
