My beast wars senses are tingling. It would be nice for IDW to honour beast wars with either a brand new miniseries or an ongoing

Note that they're all raptors.

Thought I'd just show some of Frank's art to get the gears oiled up.

I just realised something, isn't that rid 2001 grimlock from the land fill team there getting stepped on by animated grimlock.

Watch it turn out to be something for the much-reviled AOE Slash.

Everybody says Grimlock, but I bet this is related to BW Dinobot.

Dinosaurs! Transformers! Feathers! Hands in the right position! Too excite--
*explodes*
The raptor lineup in itself is rather interesting. Most obviously one appears to be a baby! The first two have lots of feathers, number three looks to have a shorter coat (going bald from age maybe?), while the last one doesn't seem to have feathers at all, but a rough crocodilian hide. Different breeds of raptor? A certain dinosaur park experimenting with scientific accuracy? (Blue gets a new family?) Or maybe even one Cybertronian just really liked the traditional scaly version of dinosaurs? (Me Grimlock NO GIANT CHICKEN)

There were different species of Raptors during the millions of years they existed... so the "baby" raptor is likely an adult, but just from a different species. Same rule applies to all of them really. But the last one sans feathers could be of an earlier species of Raptor, long before its species evolved feathers.

Assuming that birds evolved from Raptors and not the other way around.

Actually, it's looking like feathers (or similar features) were a basic trait of all dinosaurs, and maybe even all archosaurs -- that is: dinos/birds, pterosaurs, and crocodilians (the latter merely has the gene turned off). So a featherless raptor wouldn't be too early of a species, it'd be one that lost the feathers, akin to how penguins lost the ability to fly.
This is true. There were some tiny raptors, and some really big ones.
Though with the raptor pack trope and 3 of the 4 being the same general size, it does imply this is a family as opposed to just a random assortment. Or maybe I'm just looking too into it.

I hope this is the direction they're heading with the next live action movie. Edit: But that said, the first one does look an awful lot like BW Grimlock as drawn in Gathering/Ascending.

Y'know, instead of being four bots all with raptor altmodes, it could be one bot that transforms into a pack of raptors. (Similar to characters like Magmatron and Overlord.)
