Ya know, I really wanna go to a Dairycon. These guys seem like they have a great sense of humor, fun ideas, and fun exclusives.

Kinda jealous... and bummed it's at the same time as botcon... and in another state.

An announcement from Dairyon Regarding the current controversy involving 3rd party and other non-official TF products:

"We would like all of our dealers, fans and friends of Dairycon to know they can participate in our Show without having their items confiscated or removed. You can proceed with confidence knowing your official, 3rd party, customs, and other toys and materials are always welcome.

The Dairycon staff would also like to extend our warmest thanks to the great fans that make the convention what it is. You all help make Dairycon an incredible fan-friendly experience and we are eternally grateful.

We value all our fine dealers and friends who have attended and supported Dairycon throughout the years.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Dairycon 2012!"

Now that is what I call PR!
The TFCC could definitely take a page out of Dairycon's book.

Dairycon is a blast, I got to meet Fender Bender and everyone was real friendly the year I went. It certainly didn't feel like money was the ultimate drive of the show. The exclusives for this year are unique and will be super limited, really how often do you run across someone on ebay selling their Dairycon stuff?
Not often, those things are extreme.

Sounds like this is going to be the place to go. The best part is it is closer to us in Ohio.

Oh for crying out loud, really?

There are much more diplomatic ways to have said that, instead of mocking TFCC. I mean, come on. Hasbro's got the right to protect their property, and yes, I buy the 3rd Party stuff too but the Transfomers are all their propewrty, just as Potter is still Rowling's even though she's done with them. TFCC is a child company, they HAVE to respect Hasbro's wishes, there's no other option.

You wanna win friends, Dairycon, you should have said something more perofessional, "Yes, as an unnoffical convention not affiliated with Hasbro or TT, we do allow other items into the Vendor Hall and will continue to do so."

Well like it or not, Botcon is competition of sorts, so going out and saying "Yeah, we're not going to do like certain other guys are doing" is just standard PR, not to mention it was brought up a few times in other threads whether or not other conventions would follow suit, so it's not like the question wasn't asked.

I agree, it could have been stated better. You can't have your club name printed on official products and support 3rd parties. Fun Pub has no other choice.

I'm sure there is a bit of animosity still, with Botcon throwing out an early con and overlapping Dairycon due to Joecon and the anniversary, and those things associated. Competition is ugly. But did Botcon state no 3rd parties before pre-reg? In my opinion, it's common sense that these items wouldn't be in any ways promoted or encouraged, but to have them confiscated on any level should have been addressed before registration opened.

done splitting hairs man?

to be honest i see nothing wroung with dairycon dishing out some harmless ribbing at hasbros expense.

and if it eanrs them a few extra brownie points wiht the fan community thats good too

only stuff i buy anymore hasro wise is the comics and the dvd sets overtime but i go with third party figures all the way for my collection.

i gotta agree with you on that man

as they say it takes one to sling mud and two to fight dirty and they chose to fight dirty so they deserve some negative reaction from the fanbase and if dairycon comes out looking better its all good in my book

as they say alls fair in love and war

I am utterly ashamed to be a Transfan right now. Seriously, I haven't seen such a bunch of crybabies since I finished my Labor and Delivery rotation. DairyCon can do what they want. Fun Pub can do what they want. The third parties CAN'T. Why? Because Hasbro has decided to protect its intellectual properties in a way that we haven't seen them do before. And you know what? The LAW is on their side. Third party companies- though immensely cool in what they have accomplished- have done so with something that Hasbro and Takara have legal possession of under International Law. These companies HAD to know that this was going to happen eventually. It would be ignorant otherwise. Maybe the plan was to make as much as they could before Hasbro finally brought the hammer down...I don't know. But what they have been doing is tantamount to stealing. And they had to know that punishment was coming.

figure wise i dont eve bother with buying hasbros stuff anymore

transformers figure wise i buy all my stuff through fellow fans on the usual websites

for the most part though at least 75% of my collection is thrid party stuff

hasbro wants to protect their copyrights i got no problem with that but their nuts if they think they speak for the entire fan base on the matter or if they think they can decide the matter for any of us as collectors

their will always be fans willing to go out on a limb to pic k up the slack in providing the collectors in the fanbase with what they want figure wise when hasro/takaratomy cant or wont.

so long as thrid party groups continue to do so in a reasonable respectful manner where the law is concerned i see nothing wrong with this or that third party group providing a collector in the fanbase with a actual choice in the matter

the way hasbro acts sometimes though you would think they were upset cause someone managed to beat them to the punch on a idea over time. or because that group upstaged them in making the better figure in thier way.

only stuffi buy from hasbro are the comics and the dvd sets to be honest

I think the people calling "crybaby" are missing the big bone of contention: Confiscation.

It's one thing to be turned away, and it's quite another to have your stuff taken away. Is the law on their side when it comes to protecting IP? Sure. Is it on their side with seizing property? Doubtful.
