Some Transformers Cyberworld toys are coming in early, like the Chomp & Battle Grimlock. Chuckdawg1999 got his hands on one so we have a review for you below. It should be said though that this is a figure meant to interact with other figures, like the configuration with Optimus Prime. So since the other figures are not out, that whole aspect isn't shown.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:This is a fun figure, but I wish some of the other figures were released at the same time to really take advantage of all the features.

The chances that I buy that Grimlock are low... That is, unless it is 50% off so that I can customise it into Beast Megatron. :-?

In Demand Toys got some publicity stock photos for this line and one of them shows us our first look at Wheeljack's toy and... he's kinda bizarre, even for this line. He looks more Jazz simply colored like Wheeljack, complete with his helmet colored like Jazz's (with black painted around the ears so it looks like a Jazz/Wheeljack fusion helmet) and a front-bumper chest.

He doesn't even have a wacky new altmode that leans into the "fun" of the line like Megatron, Snarl, and others do. He's just "Wheeljack, but he's shaped like Jazz for some reason".

There are more pics in the link, but these two are the ones with Wheeljack.

I don't understand why they purposely limit the articulation on these. If they all had elbows and knees I'd probably buy most of them. But as is, they are all passes.

Why articulation are limited?

2 reasons.

First, it make transformations easier.
Second, il lower the parts count by a lot, thus reducing the price of the toys by a significant margin.

Also, this line is not meant for collectors, but for fun and quick play. This is the main point of the line. Going WOOOOSH and BAMBAMBAM, then transforming in 3 seconds for more WOOOOOSH and more BANGBAMGVANG.

That's it.

So they get to make these again in Studio Series in a few years. Hasbro always have a way to bleed your wallet dry if they didn't get you the first time.

Seriously, EarthSpark's warriors weren't bad to begin with, yet Hasbro followed up w/ Deluxes for many of them, and they were great figures. So we might have a chance to get these designs in Generations.

I know people are mostly thinking "black Optimus", but I really hope it's a big blue and white ship. G1 Scourge already looks the part of a pirate captain and has the name to match.

Transformers Cyberworld is upon us! The toys have started coming out, with a sighting of Scorponok from the UK. And now we have official images of the wave 2 figures. These Cyber Changers are 4 inch figures that have less articulation than a deluxe figure but are priced at $11.99 USD. Those that come with an extra armor/weapon, like Offroad Optimus and Chop Shop, are 15.99. These have an August rekease date on entertainment earth, which is also the source of the images.
This series blends a lot of aspects from all over. Bumblebee sport his Prime headsculpt and Reactivate alt mode while Elita 1 is based on IDW Riptide and Chop Shop is based on Beast Wars Insecticon.

Looks like hasbro has forgotten how easy it is to steal toys. Open packages with just tiny strips.
Fingernail clippers and they are all gone. Nobody would really want these but still, it's that easy.

I mean, it took them until just this year to make Studio Series boxes that can't be opened simply by pushing in on the bottom of the box, no need to cut tape or anything. They are very slow to catch on.

Meanwhile, for over a year, I saw the same SS86 Ironhide without a head on the shelves at Walmart. I kept reporting it, they kept putting it back. They have zero fawks to give.

I recently got my first Cyberworld toy with that big Grimlock. It is way, WAY better than I expected. Sure, the bot is flat, but it does look awesome. Plus the dino mode isn't bad either, once the legs are properly transformed. I didn't expect all that FLAT black paint. Usually, it's always glossy or metallic paint. To see flat "powdered" paint on a toy is a refreshing change.

The one feature I like the most about that Grimlock is the pilotable "mech" mode. I tried 3 riders:

First, the authentic "scout" one. He cannot truly sit, but it works.
20250709_160623.jpg

Then, the Classic deluxe. Nope. It doesn't.
20250709_160828.jpg

Finally, the G1 Pretender. He cannot sit at all, but the fit is PERFECT. Pretender Grimlock's feet fit snugly on the seat, and his height is tailored to him. Bonus points, his gun can be pegged on almost all ports.
20250709_161204.jpg

For around the price of a deluxe, this big Grimlock is a ton of fun!

Got my Transformers CYBERWORLD Ultimate Cyber Changers Megatron, A.K.A G1 Houndatron.

Compared to the original, he have a new head (with the mask gimmick removed) a new chest part, and 2 new accessories. I have no idea if that original Hound came with a gun of some sort.

Image

Armed up, this new Megatron looks fantastic, but I just wish he had more paint. Especially on his feet and under (where the vehicle's missile pods are) and on the vehicle's windows. I understand that it was to keep his G2 colors as close as possible to the original, but it does not excuse the lack of windows paint.

Image

Image

Despite the no-windows of the vehicle, it still look great and it rolls perfectly. The overall colors are also great. Plus, the new accessories give a basket to the vehicle so that he can carries his baby to school!

Overall, for the price of a deluxe, this new Megs is very, very worth it. ;)^

Cyberworld has arrived with not much of a bang. That wasn't entirely unforseen since the show is very much a short ad for toys that are very clearly meant for younger kids. Then again, the boxes indicate 6 and up, but after handling them and seeing reviews, the toys seem more akin to 5 year olds, like a slight step above Rescue Bots. Nothing wrong with that as a toy but they seemed marketed towards older kids. A review below compares them to Beast Wars basics, which have similar easy transformations, similar price points (when taking inflation into account) and the same target audience, and the result of that comparison isn't pretty, showcasing a major downgrade in 30 years time.

You can derive your own conclusion from the reviews. The larger toys seem to be faring better, with our own Kanrabat writing a nice review for Grimlock. You can find it after the various video reviews. Enjoy!

Balmatrix reviews Cyber Changers Snarl, Megatron, Optimus Prime and Skybyte

Finally here is Kanrabat's written review for Grimlock and the Walmart Exclusive G2 coloured Megatron:

I'm intrigued by the different takes on these characters that I've got all of them (except for Ultimate Megatron which I can't find anywhere online). Galleries are in progress but are a week or so away.

I'm far more excited about Chop Shop thanks to his connection to Beast Wars Insecticon (though this really makes me want to call Insecticon "Chop Shop" now after disliking that name usage from 29 years ago.

Thanks for the round-up, William-James. I added "toy news" category to the story.

Does anyone know where I can order Ultimate Megatron?

If yes, I bought mine at Canadian Walmart online. So logically, it will pop in an American Walmart sooner or later.

You're confusing :HASBRO: 's Cyberworld with :TAKARATOMY: 's Wild King. I don't know if Cyberworld is a Hasbro exclusive, but Wild King is Takara's, only in Japan.
