Review of Transformers Legacy Deluxe Skullgrin

Posted by william-james88 Aug 27, 2022 at 7:58pm CDT 57,146 views
As you all saw from this pas week's news, it has now been uncovered where people get toys early for reviews (it was known for a little while but now it has been brought to the surface for all to see). So, it is no surprise that we are getting more early reviews for products that were available to order on Shopee, like Skullgrin. This particular review is from Chefatron and in it we get to see all the features that Skullgrin has to offer and what he does not offer. For instance, fans were hoping there would be a robot head hiding under the monster head. Well, there is not. Also, the guns are soft plastic which is the main complaint fans are expressing right now, you'll let us know if this matters to you. Also, in terms of the range of height within a deluxe class, Skullgrin is not on the higher end, as we can see in the image below. He's about as tall as the Sharkticon.

I thought the Seibertron staff agreed that videos of potentially stolen TFs wouldn't be posted at the main news site, but only screenshots? If this has changed, I'll update the info section at the following link:

(Potentially) Stolen Transformers (& the YouTubers that Review Them)

Anyway, can the head easily be removed and is it on a ball joint? If so, I might be able to cobble together a replacement robot head instead for it.

Hi,

"it has now been uncovered where people get toys early for reviews"

Sorry, I don't think I read that article.

Could someone post the link here?

Thanks

Amazon came through again today, this time with Blitzwing.
I know others have had issues with them in the past but they have earned my trust.

Blitzwing is incredibly good imo.
The robot mode is so good. Because it’s the most important mode of pretty much every character (outside of the Sharkticons) for me, this is the definitive version for my collection.
I’ll also mention that in-hand the tank mode is better than I expected.

This really has me wishing Hastak would go in on a re-do of Astrotrain in the next year. Fingers are crossed for a new Octane.

I can understand why some still would claim previous versions of Blitzy are better; Legacy’s jet mode is really bad overall. It had potential when you consider the main area of the jet— the proportions are very good.
But this figure has such a great bot mode, that the jet doesn’t ruin for me.
In fact, because I appreciate animation accuracy, this guy is one of the best for me, & is right up there with Cyclonus, & most of the SS86 line.
Sure, the Energon fists are beyond stupid, but I’m so happy to finally have this figure in my collection!!

My hopes for a proper Pretenders-gimmick-revival continues to diminish, but I'll be damned if I don't get this guy. Core Iguanus is pretty great, so I have no doubts this guy and Bombshell will be solid figures as well. At this point I hope Bludgeon is a hit, if not I might cry.

Until the time comes when Hasbro makes Pretender armour/shells a thing, related characters will just be shoehorned into existing lines. They still need to do proper Headmaster Juniors and some other G1 characters correctly before they get around to Pretenders too...

Will posted it a few weeks to a month ago, I can't find the post. The gist of it is that it's Hasbro's problem and if they aren't doing anything to fix it like getting the channels shut down, asking us not to post the videos or, you know, stopping the leaks out of the factory, all things they're capable of doing, then why should we care?

There's no one article, it's been mentioned in a few articles, the most upfront being the previous one on Magnificus.

Guns are soft plastic? How soft are we talking here? Soft like Cybertron Vector Prime's sword?

Because that does not hold up well in the tropics. :(

I also want to add, WHY?
What's the logic behind those soft guns? I can understand melee weapons with lots of huge spikes and pointy bits, but standard cylindrical/flat guns?

Sorry, "it" being the official stance of the site. I found the post from Will, it was in the SS topic on August 15 so nearly two weeks ago.

william-james88 wrote:Oh and FYI to anyone who was wondering, official stance on PVP has been stated to staff. Anything you may think is off is for Hasbro to look into it, not us. You can report it to Hasbro and if they tell us to take something down, we will comply. Aside from that, anything news worthy will be posted and proper links and credits will be given. If anyone has issues, they can contact the site owner through the "contact us" link at the top of the site. Any talk concerning this on the boards will be seen as not relevant to the toys and subject at hand, and will be dealt with accordingly to site rules. If anyone wants to start a separate topic where they can talk about the ethics of toy reviews, they can.

That's odd, because a site staff member posted the following statement below prior to the message you showed:

Thanks for the Cliff’s Notes version of the review. Short, sweet, to the point and it saves me 12 min. Soft plastic guns are a real “WTF Hasbro?” moment. I was on the fence with this guy cuz I thought his bot mode looked cool, but the soft guns are a dealbreaker

That's 2 for 2 from Chefatron's recent unpleasant reviews for Pointblank and Burn Out. He definitely convinced me on skipping on both figures leaving more for YOU people. :-P

To bad Pointblank's 3rd Party counterpart is Masterpiece size. :VEHI:

JTPrime17 and Mr. Chaos over on TFW found the listing for the 3rd new retail Leader for next year: Prime Dreadwing.

Surprised to see him and Skyquake both at retail rather than 1 as an exclusive, hopefully that means that they both have their accurate weapon loadouts.

Really? He said the plastic on Burn Out felt 'cheap' next to Skids. Is that even credible? As far as Pointblank he MAY have a point on the plastic, which I'd need to verify myself anyway, he's on about Peacemaker that we know is how he is due to budget. How does he NOT know this?
