Roundup of Transformers X Nezha Toy Reveals

I know a lot of "interlocking building block" companies use similarly styled parts, but these pieces look like they are directly ripping off LEGO's molds And I saw on TFW2005 someone had suggested a repaint of that new figure with the pilot could be Sari Sumdac and I have to say, that'd be an awesome figure for SELECTS

I don't care for the fake Lego sets, but that Nezha is a must-buy if they are available outside of China. Also, the idea of a Sari figure from this is brilliant!

Lego lost their patent (patents?): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lego_clone

Courts around the world reduced Lego blocks to a functional tool or machine, like a nail or a car. So it's fair game!

This only applies to generic bricks. THe joint parts and fingers have only been in production since the mid-2000s from exo-force. Patents usually last around 20 years, so these parts still are protected by patent laws, unlike the original brick, filed in the 50s. Kre-o used a different joint system for its builds compared to lego, with smaller ball joints and slightly different-shaped parts and a lack of ratcheting joints. Also the fingers differ from the exo-force style fingers, with figures having pre-molded hands differing from lego designs. The usage of these specific parts are still infringing on lego's patent.

Forgot to mention, windblade's joints are even worse considering they weren't made by lego until 2014

We now have our first trailer for the new Chinese Transformers X Nezha show. Fellow Seibertronian Sabrblade breaks down the new characters we see, which come from different parts of Chinese mythology and literature including the The Return of the Condor Heroes. We should be getting a full reveal of the accompanying toyline tomorrow so stay tuned for that.

The big yellow bot is Lei Zhenzi, whom we've already seen in toy form.

The skinny green bot is Tu Xingsun, whom we've also already seen in toy form.

I have to be honest, Nezha looks rather a lot like a Chinese Sari Sumdac, which would be less of an issue if he weren't...well, a he.

It's an interesting idea, combining Transformers and classic Chinese characters, though my complete lack of knowledge of these particular individuals means I can't really comment on how well it's pulled off. Myself I'd rather have Chinese mythological characters rather than these somewhat more contemporary ones, just because mythology and Transformers mix well, Chinese mythology is rather cool, and the idea of a Chinese flavoured Go! would be neat.

With the exception of totally-not-Lego Megatron (Legotron?) and Nezha himself, the designs are kinda "eh" though. Which is a shame, because traditionally Chinese aesthetics IMO lend themselves rather well to mecha in general, especially when they draw influence from ancient armour and the geometric patterns of traditional art. I dunno, seems like a bit of a missed opportunity.

I think this looks fantastic. I love the mixing of culture and folklore into the Transformers for a fresh take on things... not to mention some views of another beautiful part of the world. (That was another reason I loved G1. That show was always popping around to new, exotic locations.)

I hope we can get access to this cartoon somehow... and the toys.

Can anyone repost the photos here in the thread? I missed the green one being revealed.

Wonder if this is actually part of the Cyberverse continuity. If it is, it looks like it takes place in between Cyberverse Season 1 and 2. Hopefully this won't be as trippy as that Chinese Gods cartoon.
