"As we teeter on the precipice between October and November, IDW squeezes out yet another Transformers comic release in a month already bursting at the seams. Issue #2 of the Beast Wars Sourcebook (character profiles series) hits stores this week (31st Oct in the US, 1st Nov in the UK), taking you through from Elephorca to Noctorro. Now here's a tester for those of you who figure you can detect a Furmanism at thirty paces: can you identify (or guess) which of the character profiles were written by me (rather than Ben Yee)? If memory serves, there are nine of them in total in issue #2. Now, if we (myself and Ben Yee) have done our jobs well, it shouldn't be easy to spot who did who, as they were done in a style, to a format, and I kind of did an editorial pass to make sure the whole thing was as seamless as possible (text-wise). But maybe you can work it out. Feel free to post your thoughts/conclusions on this thread and in a few days I'll reveal who was on the money and who missed the mark. I'll give you one for free, though, as it's a bit of a no-brainer: eight letters, begins with 'G' ends with 'K'. Click on the thumbnail below for a better butchers at the cover for Beast Wars Sourcebook #2 and don't forget to check out the IDW site for more preview pages and news of upcoming Transformers releases."

I bet it is very easy to tell the difference between Yee and Furman's work. Yee seems to like the bland stuff, Furman likes to go creative.
Torca is well deserving of the front page. Glad IDW have so far decided against going for the Canadian Beast Wars show characters on the covers.

Of course. Furman just has to have the opportunity to screw around with his favorite plaything, regardless of whether or not it's a good idea in the long run.

Come to think of it, that's pretty much the whole purpose of him being in the main title at all, isn't it?

Yes. Yes it is. Maybe it should be added to the list of "Furmanisms"

I'd have preferred front cover characters to actually be in the book. Magmatron for #1 and Torca for #2 seems completely random.

It makes me think that even Furman couldn't be bothered to feature those actually in the book. Almost like he didn't care for this particular alphabetized roster... you sure Grim's in the book

Do you really think that Furman picks the cover??? That's just plain silly to think that. The editors in charge of the sourcebook, more then likly, picks the covers. And seeing as the same pic for Magmatron was used twice I can see why they wouldn't put it on the same book he is in.
This is not to say I don't get what you are saying. I'm just saying I think it is foolish to think it was Furman's fault.

I recall hearing they were switching editors during the final stages of both 1 and 2. I hope whomever is on it now does a little better. I was also hoping the cover pics might be a different pic of a character featured in the book. Like the unshown TM form of a character (explaining the missing art).
Still, if there was a changing of the guard, we wont see its effects until book 3 right. Maybe it will meet and exceed expectations like Avatar book 3
note: i'm only gripping because i know i'll still be buying the TPB when it's out so far. Atleast i'm hearing it's not that bad though, right?
side note: awesome Matt Moylansig!
