Calling all completionists and Optimus Prime collectors. Takara will be releasing a brand new Optimus, with a unique mold. This one turns into a manju netsuke, which is an antique Japanese sculpture used as a button fastener. However, this one looks far more modern almost more akin to Tony Stark’s arc reactor.
It is a made to order item so it will be limited to how many are ordered by fans willing to pay 660000 Yen. It will be available to order in person at Transformers Expo 2024 in Tokyo from September 13th to September 29th, 2024.

Other unique products will also be made for this event including a collaboration for Transformers themed Llamas, pins, bags and jewelry. Check out all the images below.

For $4500 he better transform, be made of metal, walk around, talk, fly, be bullet proof, clean my floors, act like a star trek communicator badge, and scan for life forms for four thousand and five hundred goddamn dollars.

These colors remind me more of Optimus Primal

I could buy 3 Robosen Optimus Primes with the trailer add-on for the price of one of these things!

For the price you'd think they'd at least flip out the hands for the promo pictures. (The traditional ones are more like a stopper than a button, they're on the opposite end of a cord that's pushed up under a belt to fasten a small box or pouch.)

And Rody aren't lamas, they're horses. ;) They're riding toys for little kids to bounce on. I know I've explained them here before, I feel like this isn't their first collaboration but I can't find info on a previous one.

Easy pass. Strictly a cultural based release outside of the price point. Ouch.

Made to order or not, there's gotta be some expectation here...

It's actually less of a toy and more of a status symbol, really. Something to show off to one's rich peers, like those sports cars or noisy trucks I see on my job as a Crossing Guard, but much less obnoxious

you can get an actual car for that much. Granted, not a great car, but at least something. I know, both my kids are looking for their first car, and they have *in the neighborhood" of that much money. I told them to save a little more, hopefully they can get something that will get them to work and back, then finance a car for the first time when their first ones dies.

Just saw a snippet where it is said that the figure is made of actual silver, so I guess that helps the price tag

It’s made by famous Japanese artisan Yuki Tsuboshima.
The figure is made of silver and made-to-order, which explains the high price.
The artist has previously made other transforming netsuke píeces. Very detailed and impressive. You can check some of their works via his Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube accounts.
This “figure” is considered more like a fine hi-end handicraft item, specifically made for the Japanese market.

Just imagine people in Japan passing down an Optimus Prime figure as a family heirloom for generations to come.
