Takara Tomy Teases Transformers Display For Wonder Festival 2020

Although I am not a fan of the movies or movie toys, I do have a select few that I do like, I am more interested in the Earthrise display.

From the looks of it,it will be the first time all of Devastator's components will be together for the first time in a public show!

So stoked and ready to see a complete Devastator

I'm generally ok with the weird movie designs but there are a few I absolutely hate. Bumblebee's Gerber baby pacifier face, chicken/bug/ape Starsceam & Devastator. Devastator is so bad he looks like he is from a totally different franchise. My mind just won't allow me to see that stupid looking thing as a "Transformer".

Hopefully this means they'll be on display individually as well and we FINALLY get a look at Scrapper and Overload

Really excited for Devastator! It's going to be insane seeing it all together after all this time. Hopefully we see Overload's robot mode too!

Your imagination needs a fresh T-Cog! Transformers can be anything, with the power to surprise, they're robots in disguise!

That's the super interesting part to me as well. We've had an ok Devy in the past and some very good stand alone, non-combining movie boys but never a proper Overload. Very excited for that particular piece!

The next Masterpieces are BW Tigatron, and G1 Arcee.

Now Tigatron I could have guessed (in a wild fancy since to be cartoon accurate they'd have to change the cheetor mold) Arcee though.. Nope didn't see that one coming at all, wonder how she'll fair

It was this time last year at Wonder Festival 2019 [Winter] that Takara Tomy revealed their intentions to release repaints of MP-10 Convoy/Optimus prime based on Nike Air Max shoes designed by Japanese designer atmos. A year later we have what may be the final design for the "duck camo" version that mixes camouflage and blaze orange. Changes are fairly minor from the original prototype, the weapons are now orange instead of brown and the truck stripe is now camo. The orange is a lot paler than on the shoe so hopefully there's still some room for improvement. Images come via Dengeki Hobby.













Meanwhile at WonFes 2020 we also got to see a full Selects Seacons set on display. This is likely all final retail figures since the final set is due for release in Japan in March. Interestingly they've included Lio Convoy in the display, perhaps foreshadowing the coming of a certain other king of the ocean from his time? Photos also come via Dengeki Hobby. Interestingly the display points out quite prominently that Selects is a joint venture between Takara Tomy and Hasbro rather than the two companies doing their own things separately under the same logo as we previously thought. It seems Hasbro may have had some involvement in the Seacons' and Star Convoy's creation after all.







And finally, we little fanfare, was a display for Japan's wave 1 of Earthrise plus Omega Supreme. Comparing the displays and how little of ER will be sold at retail it would seem like Takara Tomy has much bigger plans for Studio Series in 2020. Image comes via @is42731 on Twitter.

Those MP-10 variants are getting stranger as time goes by, this could almost be repurposed as Toxitron.

Love the Seacons set, I'd really like to see God Neptune, whose colours are definitely more elegant. I wonder if the missing G1 Seacon would be included, repainted and named for the occasion.

I can't decide which is more awful looking: the shoe, or the same color scheme on Optimus.

Right there with you, D-Max. I’m also very much into the asymmetrical deco. The colors are very close to Roadbuster’s, and it works for me.

I'd be on board with atmos Convoy if two things were changed. 1) Brighter orange, it's too dull. And 2) Add some white, the shoe has a ton of it and there isn't a bit of it on the figure.

They also missed the opportunity to slap some tampographs on his feet to make it look like he's wearing the shoes. Robots have worn Nikes in Japan so why not Transformers?

Well, all I can say about that Atmos Prime is that it does match the shoes, and that head sculpt for Tigatron is Just awesome.

Well, we got two in 2019. Megatron about in first half, and Blackarachnia in late second half. Based on that, I'd imagine it would be similar this year, with Rattrap coming in at the end.

when are they gonna show the studio series blitzwing??? I expected it to show at the wonderfest

Patience my friend, there's still another Toy Fair this month I'd imagine Blitzwing would be one of the ones that Hasbro would want to keep for themselves to reveal.
