Take a better look at Nitro Series Dropkick and Blitzwing

Posted by Emerje Dec 17, 2018 at 2:37am CST 26,971 views
After Hasbro made a surprise tweet revealing the existence of Nitro Series Dropkick and Blitzwing we now have a clearer look at the pair. Coming from regular breaking news source Snakas we get to see a better view of Blitzwing in package and Dropkick in what looks to be a series of stock photos. As with other Nitros they come with Energon cores to enhance their alt modes.

Articulation is pretty minimal like the rest of the line, but is that double elbows I see on Dropkick? Sure, it's all for the transformation, but take the extra range of motion where you can get it. I mean, Nitro Bumblebee doesn't even have elbows and it's his toy line!

Obviously, that Blitzwing is no triple changer. I wonder is a triple changing SS figure is a possibility, of is the Movie design impossible to realise in toy form?

He's not a Triple Changer, just a Seeker who so happens to be a Seeker, I saw the film during the screenings on the 8'th so I can confirm this.

If there ends up being a Studio Series Blitzwing it's gonna be a normal Seeker, Bot to jet.

Whay that name tho? Like if Astrotrai was there but he could only transform into a space shuttle. Bee Blitzwing could have been called Ramjet and be a conehead or something.

Anyway, I call an easy Nitro Zeus repaint like they did for Thundercracker.

*Shrugs*

I presume a combination of things like trademark and a leftover for when this was still a prequel as a (Movie spoiler about character) Throwaway Decepticon featured in trailers to kill off, akin to Bonecrusher and Sideways

But honestly were gonna have to wait and see to learn why this particular character had that respective name.

If it makes you feel better his name isn't even mentioned in the movie. (Although it is in the credits)

Hasbro's gotta keep those trademarks warm. It wouldn't be the first time and it won't be the last. For a recent major example, AoE Hound is obviously more a Bulkhead in terms of design. But Prime was already taking care of the Bulkhead trademark while in the meantime Hound was vulnerable.

I'm pretty sure despite the similarities that Hound was always meant to be called Hound since the name exited since at least the early days of AOE filming since it was the only name announced at the time (We didn't know who Drift and Crosshairs were for sure heck when we first heard their names Crosshairs was still going by "Slingshot") and the only name of the 3 new Autobots said multiple times and the only one who's name was said by humans (Crosshairs only had one name call from Drift and voice acting is usually done at a later stage then the filming for the most part)

Just a personal theory of mine, not a true fact or anything.

Maybe the audio commentary will discuss Blitzwings name & if he gets his own mold for SS we then have a solid seeker available for repaints of all of them (as great as Nitro is).

Liking the dropkick figure, which has to be my first for the non studio series Bumblebee toys-kind of feels Battletrapish.

That make total sense. And the fact that Blitzwing's name is mentioned only in the credits and on the toy box is a nice compromise.

The Studio Series helicopter may be more realistic but I'm prefering the slightly chunkier look of Dropkick's robot form on that toy there (though he has his toes tucked in in one pic). Nicer colour scheme too.

Am I crazy or does this figure look better than the studio series one?

At least in bot mode.

You're crazy... well no cos i literally said the same sorta thing 2 minutes before you did. :P This figure's probably got worse articulation in general but yeah there's something a bit more appealing about it overall

I think it’s the fact that the arms are bulkier and that there’s more blue on it

And that they didn't have to care too much about matching scale or other things.

There's also the Igniters Power Blitzwing figure so Hasbro does consider him a Triplechanger even if he doesn't appear as one in the movie.

I like the looks of the 2 new figures! Blitzwing looks pretty dang good, even though I'm still waiting for a Studio Series version. And that helicopter Dropkick looks much better than the Studio Series one. I'm hoping hard for a muscle car Dropkick in SS though. and this Copter Dropkick could make a pretty nice Rotorstorm!

Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Barricade.it we have our first look and sighting of a new die cast 4 pack for the Bumblebee Movie from Simba Dickie. The set was found at a Leclerc-CONAD store in Teramo, Italy for €17.90. The pack features both a Hot Wheels-size Volkswagen Beetle version of Bumblebee from the movie that shares his name as well as a figure of Bee from the same movie along with a similarly styled pair of Bees based on his The Last Knight incarnation. All in a nice display box. The VW Bee appears to be the same as the one we saw in November sold on its own. It is unknown if the figures are also die cast or just the cars.

So what do you think? Like non-transforming die cast cars? Think Jada Toys does it better? Sound off in the Energon Pub!

We saw a red redeco of Nitro Speed series (aka Legion class) Bumblebee recently, but we did not get a good look at it. We couldn't even confirm that it was indeed "Cliffjumper" written on the packaging. Well now we can. Friend to the site Prismartyr gave us a nice little scoop with our best look at the figure yet. They managed to spot a Speed series Cliffjumper in the Big W at Tuggerah, New South Wales, Australia today.

We now see that there is no retooling from the yellow VW Speed series Bumblebee, it is just a redeco. While Cliffjumper does indeed share the same body as Bumblebee in the film, it is Bee's Cybertronian body he has and not the VW body. Still, the theme of having similar bodies is there and better yet this becomes a fun homage to the red Bumblebee toy released in G1.
