TFSource Posts In Hand Images of Fansproject Shadow Scyther Armor

Aww man... just saw the bot mode pictures, and as a huge fan of the Shadow Scythe concept art, I gotta say this is a HUGE letdown. First, the fingers on the fists are RED. I know I can easily paint those digits white, but for 100 bucks, why couldn't FansProject just stick to the silver that both SG Rodimus and Henkei Wildrider have - hell I would've been happy with off white. Another detail is the face... there's a choice between a red repaint of Protector's face or a silver predator looking one - a true deviation from concept art indeed. I was really looking forward to the face sculpt from the preorder artwork. And then there's the total lack of visible purple in the bot mode add on parts. I had no idea that I ordered a FAILBURGER upgrade for my SG Rodimus. Make no mistake about it, this Shadow Scyther set was made specifically for the Henkei Wildrider. I rested my hopes on the concept art for Shadow Scythe, and that was a mistake. I understand that many may not share my disappointment, and that's fair. Wow... it kills me to say it, but as a repaint kit for Shattered Glass Rodimus, to me, this add-on is FailProject.

Was expecting a tad more purple..Should be a good repaint though ..I knew ordering a extra protector would be worth it..

Looks absolutely evil with that red detailing on the front of the trailer.

I have to give FP credit, because they promised us that we would have both sets by this time, and sure enough they delivered.

For me, I personally don't find this repaint all that appealing. I know why it was made and I think it's incredibly cool of them to accommodate a very small part of the fanbase, and they kept the price low too.

Still, impressive work, all around.

I like this set much better than Protector and was waiting for it's release. I'm not disappointed.

I like the red detailing on the scythe and other bits. Unfortunately, i only have Rodimus and not the shadow version but with those red details i think the red of Rodimus poking out here and there just might work aesthetically.

Nevertheless it's a thing of beauty.

More images of Shadow Scyther have been posted, this time in robot mode. They were attached to an ebay auction for the armor set. Secondary market prices on Shadow Scyther, Shattered Glass Rodimus and Henkei Wildrider have really shot through the roof. These images show us both faces.

Oh how it pains me that not only did I miss out on Wildrider, but also Shadow Syther.

I can't help but see a cheesy smile whenever I look at the secondary faceplate.

Where does the scythe go in alt mode?

I've got to admit, I like this black repaint!

Might be able to stick the scythe pieces inside the trailer, albeit without being attached to anything.


Anyways, Loving the Silver Face for this one, compared to Rodimus'.

I saw pics of this set a couple of days ago comparing it on SG Rodimus and Wildrider, and I find it pretty neat how the colors seem to work for one or the other in slightly different ways, almost to the point where it might be a travesty to not to have both Wildrider and SG Rodimus to display with it! Since I have neither one, I guess it doesn't matter.

This is a cool set...much better paint job than the Protector armor I think...

That being said, this may be a horrible business decision on their part. This armor was designed for Shattered Glass Rodimus...however, the number of figures produced of that character is EXTREMELY small compared to the potential sales base of Rodimus (Henkei and Hasbro). They could make a serious mistake if they make as many of these armors as they do Protectors as tons of product will sit in warehouse because there simply aren't as many SG Rodimus figs as regular ones. Hope this doesn't bite them in the ass.

The set was limited to 600 pieces. 300 to TFSource, 300 to RobotKingdom.

He looks Awesome I love the fact that he has 2 faces Wish i Had the Black Rodimus then I could buy this.

Were these pics altered? Look at the red on the center of the helmet.

i thought it was a huge risk buying wildrider for this set but now seeing it i think i made the best decision, although it does also look good with sg roddy also..im just glad i didnt waste the $300 on a would be $150 dollar figure

Really bummed I missed out on this set. Yeah, i could go with white/silver hands instead of red but the red face looks amazing!

I can't believe the prices on Shattered Glass Rodimus. I saw an auction end at $612.99.

Since when do they care?

I must admit though that I also don't think too highly of the red fists, would of been nice if it came with extras so you could swap to your taste, though personally I think the left hand shouldn't be there at all

The Rodimus face does look as if he was powered up though, as if his mustache even became armour.

At least you don't have a Downshift neckline... that we know about. ;P (I keed, I keed.)

Missed out on Shadow Scyther, but was kind of daunted at the idea of getting a Shattered Glass Rodimus, too rich for my blood. Maybe if they settle down in the future or I get a startup off the ground I'll get one, but for now my Shadow Commander will only have the PerfectEffect guys to keep it company.

Offtopic I know, but I'd be quite happy if FansProject came through with an updated Shockwave to face down City Commander.

BTW, have we seen any pictures anywhere of what this looks like on Henkei Wildrider? I'm sure it looks fine in robot mode, but I'm dubious in vehicle mode.

I found these through a link on Sector 70 when I was browsing around a couple of days ago I think.

I love the kit but has FP made any comments to why SS doesn't match the comic or concept art?

I was hoping that my reaction to Scythe would change once I had it in hand. Negative, Ghostrider - the pattern is fail. Here's to hoping KO Toys has a Henkei Wildrider in the works. Why couldn't they just stick to their own comic design? Damn, FansProject... talk about a fourth quarter red zone pick six... 2011's 1st official EPIC FAIL. They could have totally made the Henkei Wildrider version an convention exclusive. To tease such awesome concept art then release something completely different is not only erroneous, but infuriating. Sorry, just had to vent the geek rage because I know there will be some kind of upgrade kit that's more fitting to the SG Rodimus. It's like I just spent 94 plus shipping from HK solely for the alt mode. Ugh... If FansProject wants to live up to the reputation of their motto, "For fans. By Fans.", they have got to make this right for the ones who bought Shadow Scythe for Botcon Roddy. Because as a fan of their projects, this release, up to this point, has me jaded. They could have at least given us some updates along the way instead of this blindsiding.
