An update directly from Hasbro and their social media team, regarding the new showing of the 1986 Transformers: The Movie from Fathom Events, taking place across the US on September 27th - as it has been expanded to 300 more locations in the US and has also crossed the border to include Canadian cinemas too!

The main website for the event hosts can be found here, to locate the closest movie theater near you, and fellow Seibertronian shajaki has also gone through the pain of noting down all of the Canadian cinema locations too, copied out below from Cineplex.

Exciting news for Transformers fans! Another 300 theatres in the U.S. have been added for the one-night theatrical screening of The Transformers, The Movie on 9/27! Plus, there will be a screening in select Canadian theatres on 9/30. Head over to FathomEvents.com for a theatre near you! #Transformers #1986[/quote

Got really excited when I saw there were more theaters added, but it still looks like the nearest showing for me is in the next state. Hopefully ticket sales will be good so this can happen, again, when I have the opportunity to travel

Wow this is so exciting! I never saw it in theaters when I was a kid. This a dream come true. Can't wait to go and see it! Or maybe not. Prefer to watch it in my mind's eye to avoid being distracted if I watched it in Ottawa.

And if it doesn’t well it proves what I have been stating new transformers fans don’t watch cartoons and don’t read comics they only like live action stuff., how many new transformer fan people will see this movie in theaters that are not part any transformer fan sites that don’t watch cartoons and read comics that will be interesting outcome

I know many people who will not see this there transformer fans people I work with they don’t watch cartoons but they like live action movies of transformers

Two states away for me (Mass). It's exceedingly rare for Fathom to bring anything worth seeing this far north so I wasn't exactly optimistic when they added screens.

The limited release of this movie has absolutely nothing to do with its being animation instead of live action. This is a Fathom event. Those are ALWAYS limited releases, no matter what movie they show. Every movie released as a Fathom event is limited, be it for one night or several. That's the very nature of Fathom event movies.

One of the local theaters show up on Fathom, but not on Atom when you go to purchase. Ugh.

A number of Seibertronians took part last night in the Fathom Events screening of the original 1986 animated Transformers: The Movie, and some have shared the poster that was being given out at some of the participating theatres!

The poster features the same Livio Ramondelli art that was seen on the latest release of the feature, with Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime taking front stage, and the rest of the cast around them, the Matrix, and Unicron in the background. Check it out below, and let us know if you took part in the screening!

To whoever at Fathom or Shout that decided that crummy two channel audio mix was acceptable - there's a saying about barns and going behind them blindfolded at dawn and it applies not literally of course, but instead to how well you did your job.

Picked mine up last night. It's a decent poster, but I was disappointed because I thought they were giving out the actual movie poster, with Magnus and everyone on it.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that was a shit job. I think it actually ruined the theater experience for me, and I actually had to cover my ears to keep them from bleeding at some parts.

Greetings My Fellow :BOT: :CON: :MAXIMAL: :PREDACON: :RUBSIGN:

Transformers The Movie was last night not only showed the movie but at the beginning there was a small feature presentation with Travis Knight on the Bumblebee movie showing practical effect interactions with the actors of the movie. That feature is on you tube at this time. Also included after that was the full scene of Charlie Watson meeting Bumblebee in the garage for the first time and how she freaks out and tries to run away as bumblebee freaks out and hides in the corner after his transformation. Their meeting was very puzzling and heart warming to both of them as she tries to figure out what or who he is. She mention that the noises he makes sounds like a bumblebee and that's what she will call him. He then points to her as she first thinks he likes metal cause she is wearing a metal band t-shirt but then figures he wants to know her name and she tells him, "I am Charlie Watson." "I am 18." "Today is my Birthday." All with such wonder and curiosity as she displays during the scene. Then it cuts to additional trailer footage which we have seen before from what was release this week. Then after the credits of Transformers the Movie there was 2 interviews with Stan Bush. Which he sang 2 electric acoustic guitar solos of "Dare" and "Touch". Very enjoyable night!!!

Enjoy, :KREMZEEK:

I wasn't able to make it last night, but I would have been more disappointed if they were giving out posters with the original movie artwork. I still have my Back to the Future poster framed from a 25th anniversary screening that uses the original 80s design. I'm not sure why companies feel compelled to create new poster/DVD art for films when they are rereleased because, in my opinion, the usually don't live up to the original.

I thought those two images looked familiar, you cad ;)

The Mrs and I had a good time. I'm not an audiophile nor cinephile, so I thought everything was great. A damn sight better than watching at home on my DVD.

The trivia before hand was too short and a bit easy, but the wrong answers were really good wrong answers.

The Bee movie extended sneak peak was unexpected and awesome, so was the Stan Bush stuff (glad we hung around after the credits). I wasn't expecting the posters so those were pure lagniappe.

Overall a great experience, glad we went and it was fun to rub elbows with fellow fans :APPLAUSE: ;)^

Greetings,

I'm having trouble trying to find online any figures on how much the movie made last night. I'd be curious to know. boxofficemojo just posted Thursday estimates, and TF:TM wasn't on there, sometimes movies are added later, but if anyone has any stat references, this would be appreciated. Just wondering if it was a profitable enough to warrant any future screenings.

I wouldn't imagine such findings would be readily (if at all) available for such small-scaled limited special event releases like this, since this release wasn't intended to make a profit like any normal film release is; rather, this was just a special commemoration event coupled with hype-building for the next major film release.

My city only had two theaters showing the film and we didn't have a showing until they added additional theaters.

The one I choose wasn't even half full.

How was the turn out elsewhere?
