Posted by El Duque Jun 20, 2011 at 11:44am CDT 47,225 views
Here's another bit of news from Full Metal Hero, Tomica will be releasing non-transforming diecast Transformers vehicles. Tomica is a line of diecast vehicles produced by Takara Tomy. The figures will be packaged on blisters and come 24 to a case. They posted the solicitation images of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee that are mirrored below. Both figures are scheduled for release in October with Oprimus Prime listed at 780 yen and Bumblebee listed at 460 yen.

So cars based on TF vehicles? Lame...Cause let's face it...A car that doesnt transform is definitely not a frickin Transformers...At least a robot with car parts can be called Transformers...

PS : Leader Optimus and Leader BB definitely looks better than that >.>...I dont care if it's diecast...For all I care even if it's RC cars with a lot of detailing and I still wouldnt give a damn...

So....are these things like the Transformers RPMs? or just dicast cars? Cause that Prime looks like the RPM Prime.

Awesome! This is exactly the sort of thing I'd like!

Hopefully they'll do Sideways and Sideswipe that look a little bit more screen-accurate than the RPMs! (I know, I know...Licensing and permissions and such...But still!)

oh give it a rest.

not everything transformers needs to transform. and transformers is a noun, not a verb.

these things are small and aren't even comparable to leader prime and bumblebee.. so i don't quite get your argument.

these things will be great for someones desk, or tv stand.. or anywhere really.

i personally think these are pretty cool. i'll definitely be getting prime. and i doubt it but, it would be even cooler if primes trailer swiveled.

wonder if we'll get any decepticons.

^ What he said!

I'm just wondering if they'll be in scale with each other...Then again it may be like the RPMs in that case...

Hmm...Barricade, Sideways & Soundwave are definite must-makes for Decepticons!

Personally I don't buy Transformers that don't transform, and think it's pretty silly to go to the trouble of creating and building a brand name based on the ability to transform, then "diversify" into toys that don't, or that barely do. That's why Pretenders and Power Core Combiners were failures. Products like these are in the same category as Transformers napkins and posters--ok for collecting royalties, but not strong enough to stand on their own.

I'd have to disagree. For someone like myself who is a big diecast, as well as hot wheel collector, this fits the bill perfectly. I can't tell you how many times i've heard people wanting 1/24 or even 1/18 scale diecast of the vehicle modes for the movie transformers. We already have a couple, (Bumble Bee and side swipe) in 1/24 scale trim. I'd love to have an Ironhide, Ratchet, Bonecrusher, etc. And if the detail was there, i'd pay top dollor. But for now, these little "Hotwheel" style diecast will do just fine. Looking forward to other releases.

Well, if you're a hot wheels collector I see the interest but as a collector of transforming Transformers this is an easy pass.

I think it's a pretty cool idea. I'm not much of a die-cast collector anymore (although I must admit that the Cars 2 die-cast toys are rather tempting to me; I just love some of the designs from those movies), but I can definitely see the appeal of models like these to both people who are Transformers and die-cast collectors and to die-cast collectors who like the vehicle modes of the Transformers but don't want to get the actual figures.

If I wanted non-transforming cars and trucks, I'd buy Matchbox and Hot Wheels, not these.

They are the size of hot wheels BTW, so they make for great toy cars ... in tf form

Non-transforming transformers kinda miss the point...

So how can these tiny non-transforming low detail cars be cool, but highly detailed and articulated model kits of the robot-modes can't?
With the robot-mode models I can at least do something, since you know they have playability and articulation and actual detailing, while these, these just gather dust and roll their crappy little wheels.
